Attention: Chase Sapphire Reserve Card holders
« on: November 23, 2020, 05:52:15 PM »
I know a lot of members have the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.  If you call in and tell them you are thinking about canceling due to covid and the high annual fee they will transfer you to a retention specialist.  That person will then go over the benefits of the card just tell them you are still thinking about canceling the card.  They will either offer you $150 or $250 statement credit after looking at your account.  The annual fee is supposed to stay at $450 next year.  I got a $150 statement credit earlier and I was on the phone with them less than 5 minutes.  My annual fee doesn't post till March and they still gave me the credit.  I was actually really thinking about cashing in my stash of 500k UR points and churning the card as I'll finally be past the 48 month black out period very soon, but with the $150 statement credit I will come out money ahead by keeping the card.  Annual fee is $450 -150 statement credit -300 travel credit -60 door dash credit puts it in the black not counting the lyft credits ect and other benefits.

Do you have a citation for this? I remember reading that they were charging $450 for renewals through the end of 2020, but last I read it was going back up to $550 on January 1st.

The retention specialist told me it would stay $450.  I asked again and she assured me that chase had put out an internal memo for customer service reps to let customers know that the annual fee would stay at $450.

I think mine just recharged @ $450 in October. :( I doubt they'll help me.

Call them.  I spent 5 minutes on the phone and they gave me $150.
