Between 1996 and 2016, the number of listed, publically-traded companies fell by half, to 3,600, down from 7,300.

Given that Vanguard index funds are made up of these companies, and the traditional Mustachian approach is to concentrate on them, do you find this shrinkage worrying?

What are the implications for the economy and those using publically traded corporations as their main investments?
