Anybody have any cheap flight tips for booking 7 days out?
« on: April 20, 2016, 09:21:24 PM »
Finding myself in quite a bind and need a flight for the kiddos and me next Thursday. How on earth do I do this for a reasonable price....

Flying from Costa Rica to Orlando.

Appreciate any ideas you have!

In my experience, your best bet is the use both comparison sites and carrier sites (Kayak, Orbitz, Cheapoair, etc. vs. Delta, Virgin, Southwest directly). I would also try to be flexible around your departure times and how many layovers you can tolerate with your kids. You might get lucky and score a good deal.

When you do search, I would absolutely make sure that you're browsing in Incognito/Private Mode. Travel websites check your history/cookies and will begin to inflate prices (ever so slightly) the more you search/the more websites you visit.

Google.com/flights is pretty helpful too. If you're flying out of San Jose, there are flights from $122-$147 in the next week, which doesn't seem too bad.

Although I have heard that the customer service and hidden fess can be a hassle, Spirit Airlines has a lot of last minute type promotions/coupon codes.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
