So save weight, and the environment, Tesla fans had to have their sense of humor surgically removed.
I'm not a very big Tesla fan (as can be seen in other threads), and in 100% agree with those saying that EV's saving the environment is a red herring;
personal vehicles are just plain sh*t for the environment, full stop. So even if EV's are amazing relative to other cars (they are), they are fighting a losing battle environmentally.
With that, I miss the self congratulatory humor IMO because most of it is wrong. In reality the Cybertruck is less of a "cheeto carrying bro" vehicle than the insane pickups being released these days. The hood and site lines are lower and most 1/2 ton trucks. The efficiency is incredible. The body material has actual utility. It's lighter than the F150-lightning and Rivian R1T. I have yet to see an R1T on the road actually using the bed (or most modern trucks for that matter that aren't contractors), so complaining about it not being completely utilitarian is falling on deaf ears. It would fit a 4x8 with tailgate down exactly the same as an R1T or Tacoma or any of the other short bed vehicles
The Hummer EV is a much bigger bastion of excess; it would easily win the "pointless vehicle" category when compared to a Cybertruck. The cybertruck is an incredible practice in engineering on it's own and Tesla have some crazy innovation going on with it. Vehicle companies have a lot of catching up to do to.
I just don't really get it; I get criticizing EVs and personal vehicles, but the Cybertruck is pretty awesome as a standalone piece.
If only companies like Tesla could use their norm disrupting, free spirited minds to invention something truly impactful like accessible nuclear power or public transit rather than just an evolution of personal vehicle consumption.
