I screwed this up a little, by misunderstanding my insurance benefits and underestimating how quickly providers will deliver bills. We have care from the first week of January, that hasn't even made it through determination of benefits, let alone provider billing. Combine that lag with the general uncertainty in medical billing, and my effort to maximize the benefit missed.

This was a calculated gamble, and so far we've only blown past the max by $60, but I have a little FSAStore regret :)

I wish I could get internet glasses.  Or even Costco glasses.  What do you mean you don't stock my -14.5 prescription???

BTW, if employees don't use the money, the company gets to keep it. I'm betting they come out ahead most years.
wow you are the first person I know who has a worse prescription than me!

By your question - am I a jerk - you know it's a personal ethics question

In my view,  the FSA funds are like a loan, which I pay back throughout the year,  so it's not cool to knowingly max and renege

Everyone's different though

I've seen people do this with lasik - max an FSA, then quit very early in a year.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
