3 year update
« on: January 26, 2020, 09:02:42 PM »
Something we have wanted for a long time. We are
Efficient on one income. This will effect FIRE, but from
Just a quick update on what this community
Has helped our family do...
3 years ago we couldn’t pay our bills on 2 incomes.
We were complainy pants that needed face punches.

Today I quit my job to stay home with my kids which isA macro perspective, I’m just so proud of how far we’ve
Come. Slaying debt, saving a lot, investing, and now I
Get to be where I want to be and take care of my family.

We tried DR and the baby steps, but until someone points
Out that your problems are your own fault, it doesn’t do
Any good. We fixed ourselves, and even though we won’t
Retire as early as many if you, in our head we’ve met our
Goal already getting me back where we feel I need to be—-
In the home. Feels good. Can’t wait to see what three more
Years brings. Maybe breaking into the 100K savings club?

Welcome!

Very good news about your steps toward freedom!  I'm finding everyone is on their own path toward FI with slightly different approaches and circumstances.  Having a family complicates the path for sure, but I'm imagining attaining FI with the extra challenges being that much more rewarding.

I don't plan to retire much before 62 with a downshift at about 58, so the RE part of FIRE isn't necessarily in my future either.  I'll definitely be relying some on SSA to build my "3-legged stool".  9 more years to complete independence.  Looking forward to the ride!

Congratulations!  FIRE is first and foremost about having choices and space to make those choices!
