1000 work days to go...
« on: October 27, 2016, 04:05:45 PM »
...until my earliest feasible retirement date. At least according to my master Excel spreadsheet of countdown metrics.

Earliest, most bad-ass date: 1000 work days
Think I can last that long date: 1861 work days
Outer limit date: 2314 work days

Not sure if it is entirely psychologically health to fixate so much. But also not sure I can stop...

Thanks for letting me vent...

Now you made me calculate mine.......about 1300 left for me, less time than some people pay for a stupid car loan!  Actually, I don't like this exercise, as it is teaching me to wish 1300 days of my life away!  That said, my job is actually alright, but I will admit that with a solid plan, not a day goes by where I don't think about retirement!

I'm right there with you... Just under 1000 days

With a plannned FIRE sometime in July, 2019.  I think if you are under 1000 days, then obsessing and counting down is completely legit!  :)

I have a  spreadsheet that I open many days at work. As of today it shows 732 calendar days to go but 407 working days, after annual leave, public holidays and weekends etc. It helps to keep shit in perspective!

Yeah, with 1000 work days to go, I have 1655 calendar days. Plus I have 105 sick days banked, and I earn 13 more every year.

It does help to keep things in perspective, but I am sensitive to the dysfunction of rooting for my life to pass...and I do savor the days when I am free to do the things I want to do. It is just that my job has never been my passion.

I'm at about 1350 work days, but with only around 200 working days per calendar year, it's going to go slower than it sounds.

I put that in my signature because Excel told me to but I know something will happen. Still a nice thought.

Hmm, interesting calculation. I came up with 1,276 work days until my expected FI date, with trying to account for vacation days. 1,943 actual days...

I think I'm under 700 work days for my corporate world exit. 2 years 11 months, less leave, public holidays and what not.

Time flies

Today: 169 calendar - 96 actual working days to earliest retirement date! Likely to happen at end October.

App on my phone that tracks my FIRE date and the date that I am fully vested in my pension at work and had to stop checking it everyday as it seemed to make time go slower.

Calendar days till I can FIRE

1,552,996 minutes
Or
25,882 hours
Or
1078 Days
Or
154 weeks
Or
35 Months
Or
2 years 11 months

Calendar days until I am 100% vested in my retirement at work and can walk if I am not happy

1,027,360 minutes
Or
17,122 Hours
Or
713 Days
Or
101 weeks
Or
23 months
Or 1 year 11 months

I will have to play with removing weekends, vacation days, holidays and sick days and see how that changes things.

Ok so I work 4x10 so 3 days off a week

713 days total - 303 weekend days = 404 working days

404 working days - 10 holidays = 394 working days

394 working days - 30 vacation days = 364 working days

Currently have ~150 sick hours so I am sure that will knock a few days off as well between now and then.

Wow 364 that is not so bad after all :)

2000 work days?? UGH!
What's worse is contemplating the 3500 work days I've already spent and knowing that ~2700 of them resulted in a $0 net worth.

I assume that these calculations are approximate, with some ROR on investments?  I certainly am dependent upon reasonable growth of my stash to retire by my notional FIRE date.  A big crash a year beforehand would delay things.  All in all, a preferable scenario to a big crash right after FIRE, but I'm definitely too far off (sadly) to start counting down the days.

Best estimate:  somewhere around 2,100 actual days.
That's 300 weeks.
That would equate to about 1,500 work days, not counting holidays and vacations.

Well, my most aggressive calculator, the run away and join the circus one, is 155 weeks. With holidays and vacation days subtracted that is about 650 days actually at work. Add 200 weeks to get to the more responsible date. Of course, responsibility is highly overrated.
