Title: 'Crowd Sourced' Financial Literacy Course - Suggested Topics
Post by: Ottawa on June 02, 2014, 06:46:05 AM
I thought I'd throw this up as a launching point for discussion.  Do you think the 10 topics in this blog post would constitute an appropriate course for students?  Adults?

Although it's not directly related to Financial Literacy, I'd add Pareto's Principle (80/20) Rule (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80/20_rule)..

I'd make FI/Retirement a separate topic.  He has it listed under "Investment Basics" - "Stocks, bonds, ETF, mutual funds, seg funds, Retirement, RRSP, TFSA, RESP, CPP, OAS"

That's a BROAD topic, I'd separate retirement planning from Investment Basics, personally.

I'd also cut and condense/combine a few (9 and 10, for example seem like they could combine fine to me).

But overall a pretty solid list.
