Transferring from HL to Vanguard
« on: October 25, 2019, 09:12:39 AM »
Has anyone done this recently? I have consolidated all of my funds into LifeStrategy and plan to leave HL to join Vanguard, as the platform fee is 0.15% instead of 0.44%

All the exit fees etc are gone now, right?

I’d like to do this with a SIPP, but they don’t seem to offer one, despite indicators that they would start, for some time.

I haven’t done this from Hargreaves but their charges and fees page seems to suggest transfers out and account closures are free.

I would contact them if you really want to be sure.

Not recently, but I did do this exact HL to Vanguard with an ISA a year or so ago. I don't remember being charged any exit fees. They are quite responsive if you send them a secure message via the platform, though, if you want to double check.

I tried to do it a year ago, and as you say no exit charges. Unfortunately Mrs londonstache works for a big financial firm who are FCA regulated, and this firm has not put Vanguard on their "approved" list, so I can't transfer investments to them (although I'm allowed to hold Vanguard funds - my guess it that they are a competitor). Given SIPP and ISAs are all in Lifestrategy funds, this is more than a bit annoying, so I'm still with HL

But to your original question, you should be fine.
