Title: FIRE Speaker recommendations sought for Midlands event
Post by: twistedfirestarter on July 04, 2018, 07:58:37 AM
There is a thriving Skeptics in the pub chapter near me and I’d love to suggest a someone from the financial independence sphere for an upcoming talk.

www.skepticsinthepub.org

We’ve had some great speakers so far and I think it’d be a great forum for this taboo topic.

There is a whip round at the end to gather cash for speaker expenses so frugal travel would almost certainly be covered. I’m not one of the organisers so don’t know details, just asking for advice on who in the UK FIRE scene to put forward as a suggestion.

The only UK based FIRE ‘guru’ I can think of is The Mad FIentist but him being based in Scotland makes this unlikely.

Hello,
Check out Barney, The Escape Artist: https://theescapeartist.me/. He's got a tv appearance under his belt, not too mention several guest podcast interviews. I don't know how busy he is, being a bit of a FI celebrity ;-)

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the delay, I’ve only just noticed it, thought I got a notification?

I hope, if this happens, that it gets a mention here too...would love to attend a little talk on some expert methodology.

I follow SITP on Twitter but have yet to manage attending my most local one due to other commitments...I really must make an effort though as it is the sort of thing that is right up my street.
