Yuppies no longer

My husband and I are going to ditch our yuppie ways. No more overpaying for convenience and outsourcing everything. This year I will retire and my husband will join me in five years. We will live off of 35% of our income by actually doing things OURSELVES.

Raise kids. Check. (Ba-bye nanny)
Lawn mowing. Check. (Ba- bye landscaper)
House cleaning. Check. (Ba-bye cleaning ladies)
Minor repairs. Check.  (Ba- bye Mr. Handyman)
Alterations and laundry. Check. (Ba-bye dry cleaners)
Cooking and shopping. Check (Ba-bye blue apron, door to door organics and Hello fresh)

I just had a look at your blog.  Even with all your education, your own family is more important.  Your kids will not forget that you were there for them.  My girls are 12 and 9 years, it pains me to see that they are growing so fast.  I just wish I could turn back time a couple of years and stop the clock.   They will never be so little again.   

Yeah.. your expenses were pretty high.

Oops Mandalay I didn't know. The blog is actually part and parcel of my gauntlet which is why I included it. I won't do it again.

Seriously though I am so excited to start this path. For sure my husband and I need to hone our DIY skills. Looking forward to picking up tips on badassity on the forums.

Now that your wrist has been properly slapped, I gotta say I dig your story. I can't think of anyone in a better position to RE than a family of two doctors. And those monthly expenses! Ah!
