My June Goals:

1. Run 3-4x week, goal of 15 miles a week by end of June (continuation from May)
2. Bike 2x week
3. Continue to add to list of local day-trip ideas with hubby (may add some ventures to neighboring states)
4. Stain 2nd half of deck
5. Be gracious to coworkers, look for opportunities to make areas better for them, give recommendations (this is my final month of working)
6. Hand write thank you cards for certain coworkers to thank them for their support over the years
7. Minimal Alcohol Month (I have one day set-aside to celebrate with my family on June 6, but other than that, may be alcohol free)
8. Try two new recipes

Yay - June thread!

Below is my list. I have quite a few lofty (non-SMART) goals this month. But as reno is still not finished, I just need to go with the flow and see what I can do.

Please note I use a color scheme that differs a bit form most in this thread.
Blue = good progress
Orange = at risk
Red = did not happen
Green = completed

  • Focus goal: Clean apartment after reno is finished, including decluttering and putting things back in their proper place, vaccuming, mopping the floor, wiping all surfaces, window cleaning, touching up paint on the hallway walls etc.
  • Focus goal: Eat better. It has been horrible in May, and I have nothing to blame. I have gained several kilos, I eat a lot of sugar. This has to stop. No plan yet, but need to do much better.
  • Once reno is finished and apartment is clean so I have space for it: get back into yoga in the mornings habit.
  • Once reno is finished and apartment is clean so I have space for it: get back into strength exercises.
  • Sort out rest of summer. Make decisions and arrangements. Plan single-day activities.
  • Decide w/kids about their rooms and then swap them.
  • Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards. Current layout is driving me nuts, but I know it can be really good.
  • Finish the will. I know what to do, I just need to fill in the online form, then get it printed and witnessed.
  • Somehow get a new bikini that fits me. I have a difficult size and there is now way I can order that online.
  • Walk 240 000 steps. First few days really low, but I think I can carch up pretty easily.
  • Get paper clutter and other important information in order. I have a plan but need to add some time and effort.
  • Make sure I spend lots of time outdoors w/the kids.
  • Declutter and clean the apartment and set up a routine for this going forward. Use Flylady and the Tody app. This will be once I have cleaned up after the bathroom is completed.
  • Set up finances for the future and a renovation plan. Plan 2021 in Trello and calendar (timings, kids, exercise, eating, friends and relatives, work, events, money, travel, apartment plans).
  • Maybe try to start running...

I have no progress in June so far. Kid has been home sick, work has been hectic.
However, there is some progress w/reno, and I can start some of the "clean up the apartment" tomorrow. And kids are going to their dad tomorrow so I can: sleep better, eat better and walk a lot more. I need this :-D.

Week 2 update.  I may need to back off some of these, and definitely plan next month to be easier, as I'm having some symptoms of burnout - maybe not so surprising with the home repairs, moving, and sale all happening so fast.  It's been a stressful few months, and especially the last 6 weeks or so.

General:
1. Read
  a. At least 4 books total - 7/4
  b. 1 Nonfiction book - 1/1
  c. 1 Philosophy/Spirituality book - 1/1
  d. 2 from TBR list - 1/2
2. Keep House Tidy (target 25/30) - 4/11, I will officially miss my goal, but will still try to improve as the month goes on
3. Exercise or Walk Outside (target 20/30) - 7/11

Moving/Unpacking:
4. Move! (bit of a freebie, scheduled for the 1st) - Done!
5. Start new Donate box - Done!
6. Unpack
  a. Kitchen - Done
  b. Library - 90% done
  c. Bathroom - Done
  d. Bedroom - 80% done, remainder mostly DH's
  e. Dining Room - Backed this up, since some things were moved from the kitchen to dining room due to space.
  f. Hang Pictures - Not started
  g. Organize Storage - Barely started
7. Mail Forwarding - Done
8. Change Address on Accounts - One left, that I've been putting off.  Really need to finish that.

House Sale:
9. Clean House - Done
10. Yard Clean Up - Done
11. Deliver Keys to Realtor - Done
12. Schedule Photographer - Done
13. Complete Disclosure Form - In progress, need to look up some details

Bonus:
14. Can or Bake Something Fun - Done!  Made strawberry preserves, and a strawberry rhubarb crisp

June Goals Mid-Month Update:

1. Run 3-4x week, goal of 15 miles a week by end of June - Frequency is going great! But work is still limiting mileage during week.
2. Bike 2x week - On Pace to meet this goal!
3. Continue to add to list of local day-trip ideas with hubby (may add some ventures to neighboring states) - Have a couple more added to list, but our first day trip date was a fail. Instead of 35% passing showers, it rained all day. We decided to stick closer to home. Still hiked in the rain, but it wasn't the day I envisioned. Will try again in a couple weeks.
4. Stain 2nd half of deck - Not done yet (need to pick up another gallon of stain first)
5. Be gracious to coworkers, look for opportunities to make areas better for them, give recommendations (this is my final month of working) - Doing well but losing interest quickly as I only have three weeks left and starting to really NGAF!
6. Hand write thank you cards for certain coworkers to thank them for their support over the years - List written out, will try to do 2 or 3 a week for rest of June
7. Minimal Alcohol Month (I have one day set-aside to celebrate with my family on June 6, but other than that, may be alcohol free) - Mixed Results. I've had one mixed drink, one beer, and two glasses of wine (about one cheat day a week)
8. Try two new recipes - Tried a new one last night.

So my June kind of started this weekend, w/regards to the below list. I have been busy and really tired. Thursday - Friday was kind of hectic with work & private stuff, but I managed to do a few really good things. Friday evening I was sooo tired, and I was clever enough to go to bed early. So Saturday I woke up early with lots of good energy. Managed to get a lot done in the apartment, both cleaning and moving furniture.

Please note I use a color scheme that differs a bit form most in this thread.
Blue = good progress
Orange = at risk
Red = did not happen
Green = completed

  • Focus goal: Clean apartment after reno is finished, including decluttering and putting things back in their proper place, vaccuming, mopping the floor, wiping all surfaces, window cleaning, touching up paint on the hallway walls etc. Amazing progress. Still a lot to do, but I am super happy.
  • Focus goal: Eat better. It has been horrible in May, and I have nothing to blame. I have gained several kilos, I eat a lot of sugar. This has to stop. No plan yet, but need to do much better. Not really any progress, had some "social eating". This weekend has been somewhat better.
We have all agreed about the plan. The decided on rooms, I have decided on furniture placement. This weekend I have taken put all their stuff in a third room, and moved around furniture. Found exactly the Ikea shelf I wanted on Craigslist, new in box, 2/3 of price and closer than the nearest Ikea. I am picking up tomorrow. When the kids come in a few days, we will go sort out all their stuff.
  • Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards. Current layout is driving me nuts, but I know it can be really good. Small win - decluttered some food stuff. Mentally preparing to do the big thing - looking forward to it.
  • Finish the will. I know what to do, I just need to fill in the online form, then get it printed and witnessed. I hope to do this during work hours coming week.
  • Somehow get a new bikini that fits me. I have a difficult [bra] size and there is now way I can order that online. I bought some t-shirts online for the kids. They had black bikini bottoms in the womens' department at a good price so I just risked it and when they arrived they fitted me really well. So happy. I may be able to get to a store to get a bra.
  • Walk 240 000 steps. Today was the first really good day. I am still behind but not worried.
  • Get paper clutter and other important information in order. I have a plan but need to add some time and effort. Not sure this will happen in June, but I have a three day weekend end of June w/no plans so I still hope so.
  • Make sure I spend lots of time outdoors w/the kids. Yes, going really well. They have also been out a lot by themselves and made a couple of new friends (with really nice parents, so I also have some new friends - yay!)
  • Declutter and clean the apartment and set up a routine for this going forward. Use Flylady and the Tody app. This will be once I have cleaned up after the bathroom is completed. Yep, started to use the Tody app again.
  • Set up finances for the future and a renovation plan. Plan 2021 in Trello and calendar (timings, kids, exercise, eating, friends and relatives, work, events, money, travel, apartment plans).
  • Maybe try to start running...

Oooh you should really be kind to yourself! Moving is tough. I moved in October, and I am finally kind of settling, but there is still a lot more to do. Take care!

Crunch Time.

Write Thesis: 1 / 1

This was not fun. Academic standards for papers seem atrociously low, most work went into compiling multiple sources with incomplete setup descriptions into guestimates of "what probably happened" to build some sort of a basis for comparison. Or conclude that given the shabby state, it's not possible to reproduce authors findings.

Hope i can just get my stupid piece of paper and walk away from this clown circle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sCbuOO7YqY

Tinker, I am sorry you feel this way, you seem sort of ... disappointed? I experienced something similar a long time ago, me and friend did a "sort-of-thesis"-project at the university, spent rather much time and effort, and had comments that we had totally done too much...

I do hope you can appreciate that it is done anyway!

We are all sick...Boring summer cold. Nothing gets done. Weather is gorgeous and we cannot go swimming or doing anything fun. No walks for me...
At least I got some stuff done last week, so I have something to update.

Please note I use a color scheme that differs a bit form most in this thread.
Blue = good progress
Orange = at risk
Red = did not happen
Green = completed

Good progress! Got back on MFP app, and following the goals and boundaries. It's tough, but not too bad. Lost some weight, and more important, have a plan I can follow. I will do a couple of very strict weeks, and then relax a bit.
  • Once reno is finished and apartment is clean so I have space for it: get back into yoga in the mornings habit. I should be able to but sick now so it will have to wait. My back needs this though.
  • Once reno is finished and apartment is clean so I have space for it: get back into strength exercises. Should start as soon as I feel well again.
  • Sort out rest of summer. Make decisions and arrangements. Plan single-day activities. I paln to do this during coming weekend when kids are not here.
  • Decide w/kids about their rooms and then swap them. I got the shelf and assembled it. Great fun. Kids are here and we have started sorting through the stuff. Slowly getting there.
  • Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards. Current layout is driving me nuts, but I know it can be really good. I hope I will feel well coming three day weekend, if so I can get it done.
• Walk 240 000 steps. No progress as we are all sick, I am so behind. Hope I can catch up during coming weekend.

I will do a really quick check in as I have been going to bed very late lately, and it is almost midnight also tonight...
This is really for end of last week, two days late, but I assume end of month will also be late

Please note I use a color scheme that differs a bit form most in this thread.
Blue = good progress
Orange = at risk
Red = did not happen
Green = completed

Good Even better progress!
Did not happen, sick, tired, busy, lazy.
  • Once reno is finished and apartment is clean so I have space for it: get back into strength exercises. Did not happen, sick, tired, busy, lazy.
  • Sort out rest of summer. Make decisions and arrangements. Plan single-day activities. Nothing done and just a couple of weeks until holiday time. Need to prioritise this!
  • Decide w/kids about their rooms and then swap them. Furniture moved, stuff is sorted (some decluttered), some more work to do, but that will be bit by bit when we have more of a feel for it.
  • Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards. Current layout is driving me nuts, but I know it can be really good. It will not happen in June, but I have done some food decluttering.
  • Finish the will. I know what to do, I just need to fill in the online form, then get it printed and witnessed. I hope to do this during work hours tomorrow.
  • Somehow get a new bikini that fits me. I have a difficult [bra] size and there is now way I can order that online. I got black bikini pants online and decided to not buy a new bikini bra. Hope I can lose some weight so the ones I have can fit me.
  • Walk 240 000 steps. I have been sick and will not make it, but I did a long walk/hike today so I will be close.
  • Get paper clutter and other important information in order. I have a plan but need to add some time and effort. Wil not happen in June.
  • Make sure I spend lots of time outdoors w/the kids. Went really well. They have also been out a lot by themselves and made a couple of new friends (with really nice parents, so I also have some new friends - yay!)

  • Maybe try to start running... I surprised myself - was out for a short run yesterday!

June Goals End of Month Update:

1. Run 3-4x week, goal of 15 miles a week by end of June - Yes!!! Met goal. Did 16 miles on each of the last two weeks. So happy about this.
2. Bike 2x week - Yes!! Met Goal. Did 2 (or 3x) every week of June.
3. Continue to add to list of local day-trip ideas with hubby (may add some ventures to neighboring states) - Have a couple more added to list
4. Stain 2nd half of deck - Not done yet (need to pick up another gallon of stain first) But did just power wash to clean it up this morning so it's ready to go!
5. Be gracious to coworkers, look for opportunities to make areas better for them, give recommendations (this is my final month of working) - I think I gave all I could with respect to this considering the circumstances.
6. Hand write thank you cards for certain coworkers to thank them for their support over the years - Only three done, need to knock out the rest this holiday weekend.
7. Minimal Alcohol Month (I have one day set-aside to celebrate with my family on June 6, but other than that, may be alcohol free) - Mixed Results. I've had one mixed drink, one beer, and two glasses of wine (about one cheat day a week). This was probably not a good goal the last month of work, but overall I did better than expected.
8. Try two new recipes - yes. We tried at least five new recipes this month.
