Hey @UnleashHell I just wanted to give you props for working through what I'm sure was a difficult transition in your life. That's an awesome result! Good luck with whatever gardening leave is!

@Nick_Miller Thanks - its been interesting!
Gardening leave is the English term for being paid not to work! I'm fully paid between now and the beginning of July when I officially end work and get my severance.
Its enabled me to spend nearly a month in England to assist my father with my mother who has dementia. from the frying pan....

Glad to end the month in the green! Had a few additional expenses including some weekend Airbnb rentals now that we’re allowed to travel locally. Have written off any international travel this year, going to spend time and effort declutterng the house and doing home improvements so we can rent it out next year to help fund our slow travel plans.

Not increased the value of my property this qtr as its just getting crazy now and I dont trust if I use my usual sources that its actually not going to come down again so will re-visit in Q3 and split the difference probably just to keep on the side of caution.

It seems weird to think I'm closer to 1 million than I am to half a million.  I finally got to take a trip home this month to see family since we're all vaccinated and it was great to see them after such a long wait.

No real gains this month due to several expenses to include tax bill and some home repairs/upgrades. (ETA: my original calculations left out a new investment; adding it in and suddenly the month looks a lot better)!

So exciting to read all the graduates (CONGRATS!) and new folks (Welcome!) in the race this morning!

Investments only as always. I'm feeing like we are in a bit of a savings rut. But I'm not sure it's a bad thing. Most of the savings is automated as is much of our spending TBH. We just keep on keeping on. Watching the money (hopefully) continue to grow.

Pretty flat this month due to a pretty hefty tax payment. Doing quarterly estimated payments this year to hopefully avoid that on the 2021 taxes!

Paid off my solar loan!

When I started tracking NW, my goal was 600k by 40yo and that seemed reasonable, with 1 mil as a seemingly-impossible potential stretch goal. I'm spitting distance from it at 37, so maybe $1 mil by 40 isn't that impossible after all!

I haven't updated this thread since Feb since I was blissfully unaware of finances and enjoying maternity leave with my new LO.  Investments went a little bonkers while I wasn't paying attention.  My household also went from DINKs to OIOK (DH is now a SAHD) so savings rate is going to go down now that our income is about half what is was.  Worth it though :)

Pretty spendy month due to a large tax payment combined with other extravagant spending. That being said, I upped our real estate equity by 25k and we are now Networth Millionaires! Still lagging the Zestimate by ~20%, slowly adding equity chunk by chunk as real estate continues to skyrocket. Current projections have us graduating this thread in invested assets in December this year, assuming a 7% average annual return.

This month I saved $214,988 and my net worth went up by $259,121. It's hard to celebrate those numbers as ~200k was life insurance payouts from my dad's estate. We'd been dealing with his fight with cancer for over 2 years and he passed last month. I'm grateful he got to meet my first child and learn that we're due for another in October, but devastated to lose him.

This graduates us early and pays for all of my kid's university, which he was very happy he could do for them due to his circumstance.

It appears I'll be leaving the race nearly a year earlier than estimated due to market returns and inheritance. I was here for a total of 10 months (knock on wood).

-25,000 -> 100,000 was done in 10 months
100,000 -> 250,000 was done in 15 months
250,000 -> 500,000 was done in 16 months
500,000 -> 1,000,000 was done in 10 months

It's been a pleasure and privilege tracking with you all and I'll see you in the next one soon!

Only tracking personal liquid stash and do not include my wife's savings or any Real Estate equity at this point

I cannot believe the changes in both equities and Investment RE rents/values this year so far.  I am almost at my 2022 target NW already.  Hopeful when the market has a significant correction and/or goes bear for some years that rents will remain strong.  Inflation is real this year, I am seeing it everywhere.

Net worth progress (includes home equity; does not include roughly $40k in cash; does not include 529s for 2 kids)

10/1/18 $502K

01/1/19 $480K
04/1/19 $546K
07/1/19 $579K
10/1/19 $586K

1/1/20 $650K
4/1/20 $678K
7/1/20 $689K
10/1/20 $751K

1/1/21 $880K

Anticipated graduation for net worth: January 2022 mid-2022 (holy heck -- huge market returns in 2020 have this milestone really, really close...)

Investments-only progress (excludes home equity, cash, and 529s)

8/1/20 $508K
10/1/20 $537K

1/1/21 $663K

Anticipated graduation for invested assets: January 2024

Haven't been watching things super-closely as we had a baby in March, but lo: I'm dropping by to announce a graduation!

Net worth progress (includes home equity; does not include roughly $40k in cash; does not include 529s for 2 kids)

10/1/18 $502K

01/1/19 $480K
04/1/19 $546K
07/1/19 $579K
10/1/19 $586K

1/1/20 $650K

10/1/20 $751K

1/1/21 $880K
4/1/21 $945K
6/1/21 $1,012K

Too early (and too close to the mark) to feel confident this will stick, but I think we'll buy a bottle of champagne for fun anyway! Really, really satisfying to see those two commas. More satisfying than I thought it would be, actually.

Investments-only progress (excludes home equity, cash, and 529s)

8/1/20 $508K
10/1/20 $537K

1/1/21 $663K
4/1/21 $726K
6/1/21 $790K

Anticipated graduation for invested assets: January 2024 Mid-2023

Pending 0 market fluctuations I will hit $1MM in August. While I would say that becoming a millionaire will be one of my largest achieved goals (at 33 no less), after 2.5 years of trying to get pregnant, our first baby is also due July/August.

I never would have imagined anything in my life making the millionaire goal seem so inconsequential, but that’s only because I never had a chance to experience the excitement of becoming a parent.

That aside, it’ll still feel pretty dang good to hit $1MM lol.

Congrats to @use2betrix @afuera @Lucky Recardito with babies just arrived and babies on the way -- we've got LO #2 set to arrive late July, so like @afuera I'm looking at (another) lowering of savings rate as DW was pandemic furloughed/laid off 8/20 and larger house was rented 12/20 and with 2 LOs, DW won't be working for the foreseeable future....so glad to have gotten serious w MMM in 2016 and have gotten enough of a snowball rolling that hopefully it'll roll over two commas relatively soon with steady investments returns despite the savings firehose of the DINK days slowing to a 401k'n'side hustle trickle.....

1 year ago my invested assets were 575K.  Today they are over 800K.  What?!  How did that even happen?  It's just insane. I mean yeah we saved like 50K I guess, maybe more, but dang, that's a lot of money.  Every buck you spend is not just a dollar--it's many dollars down the road bc of the cumulative effect of compounding.  Really, it's astonishing.

I'm so close to becoming a millionaire, I can taste it.  No I won't live any differently, but before I found MMM about 3 yrs ago we had 350K in my 401K and 30K in cc debt. I just cant thank you all enough!!

It's pretty exciting! I just keep remembering, so as to keep myself in check, how it felt in 2008 when I saw my 403b plummet 50%, so am keeping that in mind while doing little party dances each 1st of the month :)

August 2016: $280k
November 2017: $380k
July 2018: $490k
April 2019: $541k
May 2019: $575k

Have now doubled our NW since finding MMM 2.75 years ago!

January 2020: 625k
August 2020: 711k

December 2020: 830k

Almost triple NW since finding MMM 4.25 years ago

March 2021: 939k

June 2021: 962K

If I used the zestimate for our house value we'd be at 1.04 million, but not sure how accurate it is.  Invested assets are at 754k.

Good looking numbers, looks like we've been running similar numbers the past few years.  Great Job!

I'm in (not currently pulling out monthly numbers, but just tracking milestones...100k, 50k increments).

Investments Only:
2021/01 - first time to hit $500k
2021/04 -$550k
2021/06 - Currently ~$585k

Riding this bull as far as we can.

Today, I became a millionaire!

Of course, this weeks market growth got me there. 99% chance I’ll bounce above and below for a few months or longer.

What’s the policy on jumping to the next race? Do I wait til I’m more solidified or is it a “once you’re there, you’re there!” Kinda thing?

Never thought I’d make it so soon.

Congrats @use2betrix !!! You've had the most epic run of anyone just straight saving and investing (not in real estate).

Excited for everyone with their new kiddos arriving soon! Thinking back to being poor and non-MMM when my kids were born... I think I'd have been a happier mom if I was less stressed at the time. Enjoy those moments while they're tiny and immobile.

Holy shit, my initial barebones FI goal has been achieved (assuming of course that I sold my house and invested the proceeds, then lived super cheap - but still!) 2.5 years ahead of the plan :)

My seemingly impossible stretch goal was $1 mil by 40, which may be more reasonable than I had expected. We shall see!

Down significantly this month as we finally purchased my cousin's half of the family farm-the vacant land is probably "worth" a lot more than my estimate, but as the intention is to keep it in the family, I'm adding a "NW" column just for accuracy, but my race will continue as investments only.  This means I'll be hanging out in this race a whole lot longer, but well worth it to know my father can spend his golden years on his front porch looking up at the fields and the mountains rather than the backside of some awful McMansion....
