Quarterly update:

10/1/2017 - 502k
1/1/2018 - 544k
4/1/2018 - 559k
7/1/2018 - 604k
10/1/2018 - 640k
1/1/2019 - 608k

My wife's retirement contributions for December had some hiccups and it took until today for me to get the final share prices. Net worth drop correlates with the stock market, as expected. Though we are already back up to ~640k since the first so it's hard to complain (too much).

2018 AUG:620k
2018 DEC:580k

Here is to a great 2019! We project saving much more due to my DW getting a huge promotion!
Looks like we increased our lead on you guys by about $8k last quarter. But with that promotion you could start catching back up. The race continues!

December 2013: 142K
December 2014: 231K (+89K year on year, although numbers back this far are a bit fuzzy because my old student loan providers have wonky websites)
December 2015: 326K (+185K year on year, including self-financed wedding and 60K assessment paid mostly in cash)
December 2016: 511K (+185K year on year)
December 2017: 698K (+187K year on year)
March 2018: 667K
June 2018: 689K
July 2018: 723K
September 2018: 765K
December 2018: 766K (+68K year on year).  Doesn't look bad, but I put 60K in the market this month, so it's not great. I paid that 8K divorce retainer, though!
January 2019: 808K  Good but not great given the cash I've plowed in.  Oh, well.  On the horizon are potential home sale and relocation so it probably won't be a great six months.  I've been booking 50K in "home sale costs" which hopefully be roughly accurate.

I'm also going to take a probably significant pay cut, which will really slow my progress.  I'm trying to remind myself that the POINT of saving was to be able to down shift!

Still in this race ;) Logging Q4 investment value changes puts me "back 4 months" but I own a lot more shares than I did back then, so I'm feeling OK about it!

No investment changes logged - that would make a big difference, but I do that quarterly. Had to make my last estimated quarterly tax payment as a contractor. Now I'm full-time - less pay. Things will be on a smaller scale, and growth will be a little slower. But overall everything will be a little smoother.

Now at $754k all invested in stocks, it should be 1.5 years to $1M assuming %0 market return. I've only been working for 3 years, so it could be worse.

I think $1M is my number for quitting FT work; after that I'll try to reach $1.5M eventually by other means (lower spending, occasional work but no pressure/rush to get ahead, maybe business, completely different jobs, etc.).

I also recently made it to $1m NW. Around $1007k currently.

Fairly accurate prediction, congrats! If you're also quitting FT work, double congrats!!

Well, it took me awhile to dig up my history here. 2018 sucked bad. Our stash numbers are in spite of adding $62,500 to our 401k's in 2018 between our maxed contributions (husband is 51 and gets catch up), company match. Oh well, we are staying the course, I just haven't been looking as often. Maybe 2019 will be the year, but it really depends on the market. We won't be adding anything more than 401k contributions and match this year because we start paying for college for kid #1 in the fall...

New to the thread.  Unexpected inheritance is what pushed total Net Worth up the past 6 months. It's currently sitting in the cash/stash, will be moving into VSTAX.

Not counting value of house:

I guess it's time for me to join the club. I just crossed the 500k mark in Jan and am now enough above it that day to day fluctuations stay above 500k. Overall from 250k-500k I was able to cross it in 24months with an average increase of $10,300/month, my goal for 500k to 1M uses a similar rate to reach 1M in 46months. This would put my deadline at Dec 2022. When I first started on the MMM journey my goal was to have 1M by 35, this new timeline would mean I would hit my goal at 31 due to some good luck with compensation and OT as well as minimizing expenses.

I realize this is a slower rate when compounding is considered however with starting a family, DW dropping below fulltime and myself choosing to drop OT to spend more time with family I think it is still a lofty goal.

Date          NW
Dec-16     $243k
Jun-17     $308k
Dec-17      $388k
Jun-18      $445k
Dec-18      $479k
Jan-19      $501k

I look forward to joining you all in the race! Any others here just starting out or with an end of 2022 timeline to race against?

Thanks for the props, @talltexan  @JGS1980 @winkleweizen !!

When I started participating on this thread, we were just plugging away for a while.  Then we set our goal to be $1M in assets - hit that 11/22/17.  Next up was this recent milestone of $1M net worth (2/19/19).  So, next up -- hitting $1M in investments.  So, here's the tracking data to get us started on that path.

date         NW        Investments
4/3/14     $430k         $225k
9/19/14    $500k         $275k
11/6/14    $550k         $300K
5/9/15     $600k         $341k
4/13/16    $650k         $375k
9/7/16     $700k         $410k
5/6/17     $750k         $674k (*I think I lost history on one of our accounts prior to this)
9/9/17     $800k         $717k
11/22/17   Assets hit $1M
12/15/17   $850k         $770K
3/10/18    $900k         $770k (refinanced house, put $ in and moved from 30 to 15 yrs)
6/16/18    $950k         $818k
12/26/18   $900k         $750k
1/10/19    $950k         $803k
2/19/19    $1M !!!       $856k

Alright, I'm joining the group.

My net worth has been over 500k for a while, but only if you count the cash out value of my and my wife's pensions.  This is the first month we are worth a half million even without the pensions.  My wife(34) and I(35) are are both teachers, 55% ish savings rate.  Pensions will start paying out when we are 48, so the plan is to teach till then.  Fifteen year mortgage will be paid off when we are 47.  And whatever the stache is at that point, well than that's just what it is.  Here's the numbers:

February Net Worth Update

  • Stache went over 300k for the first time.
  • Net Worth not including the pension went over a half million for the first time...this is the one I'm most pumped about!
  • Net worth is just 6k away from reaching 700k.  If the market just stays flat I'll reach it next month.

Roth IRA     $111,858
Trad IRA     $188,680
Stache Total    $300,538
Pensions    $193,294
Life Insurance    $15,472
House Equity    $150,375
Cars    $7,700
Cash    $26,843

Net Worth    $694,222
Net Worth Without Pension    $500,928

% of NW
Stache   43.3
Pension   27.8
House Equity   21.7
Cash   3.9
Life Insurance   2.2
Car Value   1.1
Total   100

Increase     $19,810

December 2013: 142K
December 2014: 231K (+89K year on year, although numbers back this far are a bit fuzzy because my old student loan providers have wonky websites)
December 2015: 326K (+185K year on year, including self-financed wedding and 60K assessment paid mostly in cash)
December 2016: 511K (+185K year on year)
December 2017: 698K (+187K year on year)
December 2018: 766K (+68K year on year).
February 2019: 821K (+13K this month)  Hoping the separation agreement will be final and I will have relocated in the next 60-90 days.  I'm sure I'll be hemorrhaging cash for a while, but hopefully worth it long term.

I have not run any rough numbers on taxes, but assume I will be in the hole this year as a dual income coastal HCOL professional.

No investment changes logged - that would make a big difference, but I do that quarterly. Had to make my last estimated quarterly tax payment as a contractor. Now I'm full-time - less pay. Things will be on a smaller scale, and growth will be a little slower. But overall everything will be a little smoother.

Slow crawl for the moment. It'll get better, I swear.

That being said, this was my singular best month as far as pushing into new territory at $38,000!

Nice work! It looks like we're "only" up ~$26k (tentative numbers) last month.
