Now that I hit 1 million, I am tempted to move into more conservative investments.
...
It is 70 % equities / 30 % fixed income.
This is counting some company stock which has a fixed price and pays 5% dividends as fixed income

That's fairly conservative already, presuming your equities are diversified in broad index funds (e.g. VTSAX).

Hopefully you don't have too large an exposure to a single company's stock, your employer at that.  You wouldn't want the double whammy of losing your job and a major asset in your portfolio tanking.

Your age and how close you are to retirement are also considerations for how to measure your portfolio on the conservative vs aggressive scale.

I'm a conservative guy myself, and my allocation is pretty much 70/30.

July update:

Our Stash (NW):
1/2018 - $565,049
2/2018 - $560,628
3/2018 - $573,526
5/2018 - $601,628
6/2018 - $624,739
7/2018 - $641,020

As anticipated, summer camps and home repairs are slowing down debt pay down.  But, hey, the kids and house are living their best life now!

Hi Everyone,

I've just graduated from the 250-500k thread as of yesterday we are at £510k. We've typically added £100k a year through savings and investment growth, which seems insane to me if you said 5 years ago thats where we'd be!

I'm currently contracting in IT in London, so day rates are good and am saving every penny we can. Plan is to keep building the stash until it gets to around £600k and then rent the house and go travelling for a year.

After that, who knows?

Historical chart below:

Jan 2017 - £346,854
Feb 2017 - £388,581 (+£41,727)
Mar 2017 - £396,119 (+£7,538)
Apr 2017 - £401,345 (+£5,226)
May 2017 - £399,619 (-£1,726)
Jun 2017 - £411,132 (+£11,513)
Jul 2017 - £409,299 (-£1,833)
Aug 2017 - £413,486 (+£4,187)
Sep 2017 - £415,586 (+£2,100)
Oct 2017 - £434,692 (+£19,000)
Nov 2017 - £438,434 (+£3,742)
Dec 2017 - £452,034 (+£13,600)
Jan 2018 - £456,088 (+£4,054)
Feb 2018 - £467,243 (+£11,155)
Mar 2018 - £463,199 (-£4,044)
Apr 2018 - £453,874 (-£9,325)
May 2018 - £475,489 (+£21,615)
Jun 2018 - £489,292 (+£13,802)
July 2018 - £499,919 (+£10,267)

July 25th 2018 - £510,626 (+£10,707)

Has anyone worked out the average time from 500k to 1MM?  I think someone had done it on the 250-500 thread.

Started the Zero Day Challenge with my wife at the end of June to try and bring a new level of mindfulness to our spending, and as a result was able to be a bit more aggressive in adding new capital to investments. Still holding a chunk of cash not accounted for here that I am still evaluating whether I want to put it into investments or pay off our mortgage, and if I decide to invest it will put us in striking distance of $1MM in our investment accounts.

Missed a couple monthly updates due to summer travels.  My goal at the beginning of the year was to hit 750k, so looks like we should be able to surpass that at this rate.

Well, it's not been the best year, but I realized I haven't checked in here in awhile.

Current status:
Stash $891k
TNW $1.543M

Probably not going to cross the 1M mark for the stash this year, but at least we're finally back to a new high for the stash, which was $890k at the end of January. I looked back and saw that I originally thought we'd hit 1M for the stash by the end of 2019. Probably still doable depending on the market.

Estimates of NW over the years with more concrete values currently
2011: $40k  Real estate sucked (I'm a realtor and own rentals), income was low and equity was non existent.  Tough times!
2012: $55k
2013: $75k
2014: $160k  Being a realtor and also having a large portion of NW in real estate helped income and value go up drastically. (income $155k) plus asset appreciation
2015: $295k  (income $210k) plus asset appreciation
2016: $505k (income $242k) plus asset appreciation
Started using Mint for tracking in 2017
2017: March $515
         April $500 spent money... :(
         May $521
         June $573
         July $588
         Aug $605k
         Sep $647k
         Oct $650k
         Dec $684K
2018
         Jan $725k
         July $780k

Almost forgot about this thread.  Spent the last few months rehabbing and flipping a house so that took a lot of free time.  Should close on that sale in a few weeks.

I have been gone more than a year.  Don't feel like going through and verifying all the interim months' numbers, but will reproduce based on personal capital.

As a reminder mostly to myself, in this thread I am tracking personal assets (not shared or soon-to-be kid's college savings) using personalcapital.

December 2013: 142K
March 2014: 178K
June 2014: 191K
September 2014: 205K
December 2014: 231K
March 2015: 232K (I self financed half a wedding this quarter, and began subsidizing now husband)
June 2015: 249K
September 2015: 272K (a new~30K in debt showed in this quarter from the first half of a 60K roof assessment I didn't have cash on hand for)
December 2015: 326K
March 2016: 342K
June 2016: 389K
September 2016: 457K (began booking a 4540K "liability" that I would incur if I wanted to liquidate my condo, which I include in this NW total)
December 2016: 511K (+185K year on year)
March 2017: 599K (I am guessing on numbers for the end of the month, but should be +/- 2K, +142K year on year)

I am towards the end of maternity leave.  I am sure the saving/investing pace won't keep up when I start paying daycare (and maybe working a 70 or 80% schedule for a couple months), but not too bad for being off work!
June 2017: 603K
September 2017: 639K
December 2017: 698K
March 2018: 667K (drop is due to someone having conducted a fire sale of their condo in our very small building during a divorce)
June 2018: 689K
July 2018: 723K  I guess I shouldn't be surprised given my husband's income struggles and how expensive daycare + health insurance is, but at least I'm making progress.  I just switched back to 100% hours so started getting a small bump.  I need to kick my husband's a$$ in to gear on the earning side and buckle down on the restaurants, I think.

12/17/17  $739,821
01/16/18  $774,717

That jump seems crazy to me.

08/02/18  $873,766

Took a break from constantly checking my net worth for a while.

No kidding, the market continues to go crazy...

Another annual update:

April 2016: $500k -----> saved $54.8k (~75% of income), 90/10 allocation
April 2017: $651k -----> saved $53.4k (~73% income), 60/40 allocation
April 2018: $777k

My investment risk tolerance has shifted over past couple years with political situation, and resulting lower returns last year. Now at 80/20 allocation.

Aug 1 2018: 838k

A 61k increase in 3 months is almost my annual post-tax salary, and seems totally unsustainable.

Oct 2017: 527k
Jan 2018: 554k
Mar 2018: 666k (updated value of rental property)
Apr 2018: 682k
May 2018: 694k
Jun 2018: 711k

Yay! Surpassed 700k. Next goal is to hit 727k, which is 200k more than when I joined this thread. Hope to reach that by August or September.

Aug 2018: 770k (updated value of rental property)

Next goal: Get to an even 800k by the end of this year.

You are all doing great.  I am going to have some very expensive car repairs this month, which will flatten out our progress a bit.  C'est la vie.

I first hit the double comma club on July 10th.  Then it dipped the next day.  :(  But then the markets recovered, and I have been a club member in good standing for almost a month.  I know it could disappear at any time, but I am enjoying it for now.  The timing was particularly nice, as I became a millionaire just 10 days after my official retirement date.  :D

Here's what my progress has looked like since the Fall of 2013, just a few months after I discovered MMM and started paying attention to my finances:

722k here. My last post was too many pages back to find.

We've been going gangbusters. It's going to hurt when the market corrects.

I have a prediction based on contributions and an estimated rate of return and we keep flying past it.

I've been thinking that as well, especially as I contemplate downshifting my career...

I know, right? Like a lot of you, I'm bracing for a market dip, but I think we all understand that if it goes down, it'll come up again. Trying to stress less and just have faith in the system!

Yes!  Officially hit $1M yesterday.  Super excited to have come so far.  I was checking daily since August 1st because I was so close and my birthday is this month.  I really wanted to hit it before I turned 40.  So I did it!  And the today realized that I don’t turn 40 until next year.  Lol!  I’m ridiculous, sometimes.

No real estate, about $90K is the kids 529s, everything else is cash & investments.

Thanks!  And... it was gone two days later.  Thankfully, I wasn’t expecting it to stick right away, so it’s fine, no surprise.
