Very excited to see someone make this threshold.  Congrats on making it!  I am sure 2 comma club will come quickly for you.  I still believe that $100,000 - $250,000 was hardest for me, but this one still isn't easy.  I am not as frugal as I should be.  I am hoping to join you by end of 2025, but that might be a stretch.  Currently just a little north of $450k.

When I started my MMM journey in September 2016 I was at -$78k.  That's over $300k swing in less than 8 years.

On to $500k!  Thinking (optimistically) we can get there in less than 4 years...

Well done!  That is some really impressive growth.  Was that starting at $0-50k?  if so, really impressive!  I felt like breaking $250k was the hardest as it is more than a doubling.  I would have to look back at when I started this stage, but I think I have been in it for a minute.  I sorta have already beat the $500k, but won't move out until the IRA balance alone is there.  I wish I was more frugal.  I will achieve FI and technically FIRE a few years ahead of normal retirement (68).  Earliest would be 56-57, but likely 60.  Of course, I was late to the game in not knowing about MMM until circa 2011.

In Dec 2023, at the age of 39, our net worth was $217k, and as of the end of March, 2024, we're at $268k net worth.

So, it's actually a $346k net worth swing (-$78 to $268) in 90 months.

You answered perfectly.  I was re-reading and was really excited to see your starting place.  Way to go!!!  All the more impressive.  I have at least one of my children better down the savings path.  He should make the $250k before 30, but he still isn't to the insane savings rate yet.  Another one is much younger and will either make it (FIRE) easily by 30 or fail spectacularly.  He is much more aggressive earner and riskier investor.

We were hit with a nearly $4k car repair this month.  It's a 2014 that's been paid off for years and only has 60k miles on it.  So, if $4k can keep it going for another few years, it's worth it to not buy anything else at this point.

The other big impact was our 2023 taxes.  We owe a bit over $4k.

Of course, the market didn't help much.  We lost $5.2k to market decreases.

Overall, we got hit with $4k unexpected, $4k expected, and lost $5.2k in the market.  But overall Net Worth only decreased by $7k.  This is partially due to our investment contributions, but also the value of our home went up again compared to last month.

@CanadianTeacher - I don't know your savings rate, but I hope you reach your $500k goal by end of year with a low savings rate.  That would equate to at 25ish% market gain from now until the end of the year which would benefit us all.  (assuming you invest in the market).  Well done never the less, those are impressive numbers!!! Six-seven years to half a million.  I have never even approached that kind of progress, but love to see when people do it.  Count me a fan of your progress.

Thanks! Don't have a low savings rate, but I'm heavily invested in equity ETFs and funds. The market boosts are always helpful. If I keep to my budget, I can save 71% of my full time job's income (about $5,000 after taxes). The commuted value of my pension also grows by about $1000 each month and I count that in my net worth, while others wouldn't (I don't plan on working until I'm 55 and I may very well take the commuted value.)

I have a low cost living arraignment right now, but will eventually be buying a condo once I save another 100K or so - granted housing prices don't balloon a ton.   I'm also blessed with a side gig that's pretty passive. Last year I made $40,000 (pre-tax) from it. Things have slowed down this year but it still brings in $1k+ (pre-tax) per month.
