The first number is retirement related investments, the second is total NW including real estate, cash savings, and other investments. I'm only counting retirement related investments for this race!

Thank you @ontheheel! It's hard for me to believe how far I've come. Though actually, a big reason for my progress is that I did start maxing out all my tax-advantaged accounts (401k, IRA, HSA) in 2017, even though I still had $200k in student loans then -- so I've enjoyed a lot of market gains for the last few years while continuing to pay down my debt (I still have $80k to go!). I'd be done with my debt by now if I hadn't prioritized investing, but my net worth would also be a lot lower, so that decision has paid off for sure.

Yeah, that’s awesome, mckayla : )

Welcome, @Virtus3 and @Roks!  Congratulations, @grantmeaname, @SeattleStache, and @nkt0! And congrats on zero debt, @ardrum

It's just amazing to me how well the year went.  I was able to contribute 47K, and the market gave me another 60K, so a 107K increase since December 2020 (off a starting balance of 218K, no less, so up 49%).  Unreal.

Happy new year and best wishes to all : )

Made it to >$500K! This was way earlier than expected and will dip back down in January when a car repair and housing contractor expenses will both hit, but it's crazy to land here right as the year closed out.

My goal to hit 300k by Q4 2021 was met(ish)!
Current NW is: $302,355.90, I haven't received my January paycheck due to the holiday but the markets have been relatively favorable and my spending has been mostly reigned in, all things considered. I still have a lot of room to improve there but am getting back to where I was around this time last year.

I'm going to keep posting just cash accounts because appreciation/equity is not worth keeping up with especially as I hope to hold these at least 5-10 years depending on maintenance and appreciation.  Maybe if it tips me into the next race I'll factor it in then, but that is at least 3 years away.

Talk about wrong in all the right ways?  This time last year I had just put ~50K into a rental property, and was about to close on a second.  In the four months that followed each property appreciated astronomically, at almost 100K each, or over 40% of purchase price.  It is remarkable.  So, I guess I graduated?  I probably crossed the line in June.  I can't even massage the numbers to make it below 500k taking into account closing costs and capital gains.

May2021 — $249275
Jun2021 — $252084

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.  I reversed the November downward and enjoyed the December.  I had to readjust my goals HOFer a few times this year and I’m happy to say I made the goals I was shooting for.

Original goal this year was to hit $230k for the TSP account and $130k for the spouses. Then it was $250k.

2022 goals:
TSP: close out with $320k
Spouse: close out with $171k

Obviously I am hoping for a few extra bumps rather than a 6% annual return (which is what I have these numbers set at.

My target is to graduate in 4 1/2 years by mid 2025 when liquid assets cross $500k.
DateLiquid AssetsFixed AssetsTotal Assets
11/30/20 $278,000 $92,000 $360,000
12/31/20 $293,094 $96,705 $380,799
06/30/21 $358,037 $150,000 $508,037
09/30/21 $370,028 $150,000 $520,028
12/31/21 $410,300 $183,300 $593,600

In the last quarter, I contributed ~$11k including the employer match to the liquid assets consisting of 401k's and IRAs. The rest are market gains, and mortgage payoff, and price appreciation on houses.

In 2021, contributions from me and my employer are $30k and $10k respectively. Market gains are $87k. Some of the properties I own appreciated considerably. I am still using conservative numbers on house prices. I paid off $17k in mortgage debt.  The increase in the total net worth is $213k. Overall, an awesome year.

Based on the gains in 2021, my revised target is to graduate in 3 1/2 years by mid-2024.

Note: The fixed assets are an approximate number. I use Zillow to estimate the value of my properties.

I know I only recently updated, but now that January paycheck has hit, I want to make sure I update.
It's so weird, I am almost already to my goal for Q1 and will definitely hit it next month, a month early.
There are some major upcoming changes in my life that may result in this gravy-train job coming to a halt, but I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can choose happiness over money. My hope is to continue this job in a slightly different capacity (and remote), but it's not guaranteed, so I'm just saving what I can for as long as I can. The change (either to remote or to another job) will likely happen at the end of February, so I still have at least one more month of substantial growth.

TSP took a massive hit. That's the reality sometimes when you invest in all equities. I remind myself that I'm still young and have alot more time until I'll actually need to dip into the tax deferred investments so I'm just trying not to look at my account every day and enjoy the ride.

Markets are way down, it hurts to reconcile my finances after a month and see some of my investment accounts down as much as $13,000.00. Most of them are down $3,000.00-$5,000.00. It's just a minor dip, and I'm still in the green for the month. Stocks are on sale, I'm front-loading my 401(k) for the year, and the rest is all just a buying opportunity.

NW this month is $314,353.10 (-$10,307.05). I made a decent paycheck and have been investing heavily, so it will bounce back. The only reason for the drop is the markets, and they will return eventually. Barring continued losses (which are ultimately temporary), I'm on track to hit my Q1 goal on time.

I'll play! I'm 31, if you include the future value of my pension I am just over 250. I made some adjustments to how I calculate my liquid NW a little under a year ago so my numbers don't look to far back but they are now more accurate and precise.

          2021              2022
JAN     N/A               $251,327
FEB     $213,392
MAR    $222,443
APR     $225,864
MAY    $231,841
JUN     $240,641
JUL     $230,023
AUG    $229,620
SEP     $233,285
OCT    $232,914
NOV    $230,646
DEC    $240,387

There were quite a few fluctuations in 2021 due to having a kid, paying down some debts, and investing some into my son's 529.

For context: I'm 32 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93 (1 year tracking)
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to the 100-250k thread)
3/20: $118,287.76 (2 years tracking)
3/21: $206,593.43 (3 years tracking)
11/21: $254,300,88 (graduated to this thread)
12/21: $258,452.24 (+$4,151.36, +1.63%)
1/22: $266,408.54 (+$7,956.30, +3.08%)
2/22: $249,470.14 (-$16,938.40, -6.36%)

Ouch. Spending and investing was normal this month, so the decrease is all due to the market. I'm not going to kick myself out of the thread, with the assumption that I'll be back over the threshold again soon (fingers crossed!).

Been a little while... May or something...  Any who, I guessed I'd see 470k eoy, met it early and then guessed ~530,000 at eoy...  Knowing there was no way in dixieland it was gonna happen....  Guess that's what I get for "knowing" something...  Though, given the months drop...  I wasn't there for long, and may not be in the next thread for long...   Cest La Via.

Guess for eoy: 590 - 600k.   If I meet that early this year, I'll guess again.   Cya all in the next thread or back here next time I post.... whatever happens first.

Squeaked out a small increase on the last day. Investments were down quite a bit but luckily lots of overtime and quarterly ESP contributions outpaced my loses.

As the rest of you have said.. ouch. Luckily, I was able to max out my backdoor roth and add my normal contributions lessening the hurt this month. At this point, while we're accumulating, I wouldn't mind some further dips, even though they're painful to see.

Well, that wasn't too surprising. I personally wouldn't mind if the correction continued for a little while, but we'll see. Unfortunately, things are not so good on the spending side -- I had to shell out for stopgap roof repairs after a leak last month, and I'll probably need to replace my roof entirely this spring. I also had/have a couple of big bills last month and this month for some masonry work and mold remediation in my basement. (My relationship with water is pretty tenuous right now.) Home ownership!

And I'm back! What a rough start to the year.

The first number is retirement related investments, the second is total NW including real estate, cash savings, and other investments. I'm only counting retirement related investments for this race!

December 2019: $292,062 (total NW $423,991)
December 2020: $398,408 (total NW $572,704)
December 2021: $506,167 (total NW $665,639) Graduated for now, hope it holds!
January 2022: $487,694 (total NW $652,192) Didn't hold!

Hi All! I followed last year but it's time I joined the conversation.

Net Worth History:
2014    -$52,755.00
2015    -$39,704.87
2016    $1,415.16
2017    $30,515.21
2018    $47,088.58
2019    $69,448.18
2020    $209,969.70
2021    $305,669.00

January started off with a gut punch to the accounts. We had a late December roof replacements and then the market dip. We have about $21K left in debt that will get paid off this year. I am hoping to hit at least a 1/3 of the goal this year.

Jan Net Worth: $280,013
Jan Retirement: $301,963

Net worth consists of equity portfolio, two rental properties, and cash (checking/savings). Liabilities are month-to-month credit card (PIF every month), two mortgages on rental properties, and what’s left of my wife’s student loans.

Despite heavy spending this month, I managed to make it well into the green over last month, I think the markets bounced back a bit. Hit my Q1 goal for 2022 with plenty of room to spare. I bought a lot of home goods for my new apartment (approximately $2,100.00 to furnish it) and also paid off a pretty hefty medical bill ($1,495.00 negotiated down from $3,400.00!) along with my first month's rent and security deposit for the new place ($2,800.00 total).

Big paycheck this month and the 3% match for my 401(k) helped offset this, along with the markets somewhat improving, and getting my tax refund back (~$9k, withholding was insane). I have a few more big expenses next month, including a cross-country uHaul and another medical bill that needs my attention, but I'm starting to finally feel secure in my job and am saving at a rate I am comfortable with.

NW this month is $339,824.96 (+$25,471.86).

For context: I'm 32 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93 (1 year tracking)
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to the 100-250k thread)
3/20: $118,287.76 (2 years tracking)
3/21: $206,593.43 (3 years tracking)
11/21: $254,300,88 (graduated to this thread)
12/21: $258,452.24 (+$4,151.36, +1.63%)
1/22: $266,408.54 (+$7,956.30, +3.08%)
2/22: $249,470.14 (-$16,938.40, -6.36%)
3/22: $251,915.95 (+$2,445.81, +0.98%)

Well, I'm back over the threshold. My investments are basically 100% VTSAX right now, so it's a ride.
