Why can't the market just go down :(

Just found out I'm moving pretty soon so I pushed the whole house down payment savings pile into the market today. (It's in the net worth number all along, so not causing an unusual gain.)

As I'm living and getting payed in the Netherlands, all my numbers are in EUR.
Only counting my "Early Retirement stash". So this does not include my emergency-fund, pension capital, or payed-off residence. These are the "end of the month" numbers:
Month      Early Retirement Stash   (growth=diff with prev. month deposits=money added)

Oct 2021  € 418 718.56   (growth: €15 358.91 deposits: € 2 000.00)

Market rebounded, that offset a lower savings rate due to some spendy behaviour.

Farm loan paydown of $60,000 has contributed to our huge $75,000 net worth increase this month!
Nov 1 2021:  $562,597.23

So with that, we will be graduating from this thread and joining the race to $1,000,000.  I can't believe we're over $500,000!  After 2020 being a long slog to get nowhere, the farm paying off some loans this year is a huge boost.  See y'all over there!

Net worth consists of equity portfolio, two rental properties, and cash (checking/savings). Liabilities are month-to-month credit card (PIF every month), two mortgages on rental properties, and what’s left of my wife’s student loans.

March $152 (Market crash and start of recovery)
April $172
May $187
June $187 (Bought a 2012 Toyota Sienna for $8,200)

2021
January $241
February $246
March $255
April $267
May $290
June $303
July $325
August $333
September $328

October 342k

October was much better than September, for sure.

We did buy a new washing machine for the first time ever, which was our biggest unusual expense. We've typically gotten them off Craigslist and just throw parts at them over the years to keep them running. Our old one was wearing holes in our clothes, and I'm tired of repairing things all the time. Also, I'm deploying next year, and would like some more reliable stuff around the house for my wife while I'm gone for 6-8 months.

Found an $850 LG top-loader that was well-reviewed on sale as a floor model for $650. I asked for another 10% off and got it, so we walked away at $585 for a brand new machine with a good warranty, and that will save us on electricity, natural gas, and water for years to come. Most of the machines I saw on craigslist were $350-500, and new machines often passed the $1,000 mark, so I think we got decent value.

I fell off the map for awhile because we were moving across the country and as a result finances were a bit in flux.  Back on the train now, though.

Past couple months have been tough and probably a few more tough ones on the horizon.  SO has been out of work for the past 1.5 months and we are about halfway through a complete home renovation.  Between the two, NW is certainly taking a hit.  Home renovation will only last couple more months and then hopefully get back on track.

Thank you @grantmeaname! I still have a large amount of student debt (~$85k) but have been fortunate to be able to max out my retirement accounts and start the compounding train, even while paying down debt. It is hard to believe how different my financial situation is now than just 4 years ago, for sure.

Not much to report - looks like this month wasn't too shabby. The rest of this year will likely be a bit flat since we won't be contributing much beyond our pre-tax accounts. Really hoping to accelerate things much more so next year.

Somehow, when I wasn't looking, we hit 401K in liquid assets. That was March. This morning, it's at $440,000. I'm off contract for the summer, getting some part-time pay, but not my regular salary or benefits, so I'm predicting October for graduation.

$482K on my liquid spreadsheet this afternoon. So, likely December graduation instead. I'll take it.

Why can't the market just go down :(

Just found out I'm moving pretty soon so I pushed the whole house down payment savings pile into the market today. (It's in the net worth number all along, so not causing an unusual gain.)

Investments Only

Sept 1, 2021:   $260,000
Oct  5, 2021:    $256,000
Nov 4, 2021:    $279,000 (net worth around $529k)

Hard to really grasp the money moving that much over 1 month... But that is very exciting. I know not to expect that much movement every month, but finally being to an amount like this where we do see some real movement is awesome.

I am only showing investments, but with our home equity, we have also crossed over $500k net worth! Feel that is a bit artificially inflated with the crazy housing market, and my wife has a hard time counting net worth as a real number, rather than investments. But I find it exciting none the less. But I will keep with investments only for these numbers but pop in some of the big net worth milestones just to make me feel better at time ;) .

@oneday it’s Monopoly money! Household gross is just barely past 100k so the numbers don’t feel like real numbers

Nov 20, 2019 -- $113,800
January 15, 2020 -- $120,900
February 15, 2020 -- $136,916
March 17, 2020 -- $65,556
April 15, 2020 -- $97,329
May 15, 2020 -- $106,497
June 15, 2020 -- $144,753
July 16, 2020 -- $168,424
August 15, 2020 -- $176,358
September 15, 2020 -- $212,832
October 15, 2020 -- $199,625
November 15, 2020 -- $225,026
December 15, 2020 -- $248,842
January 15, 2021 -- $302,111
February 15, 2021 -- $307,205
March 15, 2021 -- $327,076
April 15, 2021 -- $335,420
May 24, 2021 -- $282,215
August 19, 2021 -- $374,060
September 19, 2021 -- $364,746
October 15, 2021 -- $375,995 *Corrected for a flipped sign*
November 15, 2021 -- $373,345

On the one hand, my numbers are down, mostly because I spent a lot and didn't work much. On the other hand, my financial situation is a lot cleaner as I've gotten rid of a house and repaid a lot of debt. I've always had many irons in the fire, and I'm looking forward to the simplified system. I'm working reduced hours in order to pick up another degree, so I will have little control over the numbers for a bit. Hopefully I can close out the year positively. Either way, I'm extremely pleased with growth so far.

My target is to graduate in 4 1/2 years by mid 2025 when liquid assets cross $500k.
DateLiquid AssetsFixed AssetsTotal Assets
11/30/20 $278,000 $92,000 $360,000
12/31/20 $293,094 $96,705 $380,799
06/30/21 $358,037 $150,000 $508,037
09/30/21 $370,028 $150,000 $520,028

I contributed ~$11.5k including the employer match to the liquid assets consisting of 401k's and IRAs. Market gains are negligible last quarter.

Note: The fixed assets are an approximate number. I use Zillow to estimate the value of my properties and my equity in the properties.

We were briefly millionaires* for a few days in the middle of the month before we dropped back down to $485k to finish the month after the recent bit of sell off. Wish it would sell off more!

It looks like the stock market foiled my goal - I was at $302K before I updated my portfolio numbers which brought me down to $296K. I got paid early for December, and there's still time for market fluctuations before the end of the year.

Even with a dip in the market, I am up $12,692.91, or 4.5%. My net worth is up $157K this year alone, which is mind-boggling.

I put $2K into crypto this month just for fun. First was $100.00 into each of the top 10 coins per CoinMarketCap, and I bought $500.00 more of both ETH and BTC since they seem to be the most stable long-term. We'll see. It's a fun experiment more than anything. Ideally, I'd like to get to 1 ETH and .1 BTC, but I'm not sure if I want to throw that much money into super risky investments just yet.

I will probably edit my final numbers for December toward the end of the month, just to see where I am at the end of this year. I'm going to keep my head down and keep grinding for now, and being mindful of my health complications that have arisen.
