Almost ended up back in here this month.

See ya after the next market crash, suckas!

Hey don't come back, you are not welcome here. We will see you on the other side.

Lots of new folks in thread this month. Congrats and welcome y'all!

I'm ok if 2b1s stays in the next thread up. if the markets crashes to bring him back here it may be bad enough to drop me down a thread and I do NOT want that. Not that they aren't pleasant people in that thread but I'd rather move up if thats ok.

@hudsoncat I'm also stretching to hit $400k by the end of this year, but obviously depends on market activity :)

Congrats @FIPurpose ! It's funny how every milestone seems daunting until you get there. I remember saving $100 per paycheck in grad school to get my first $1000 for a Vanguard starter fund, then thinking it would take forever until I had $3k to buy VTSMX, then being so excited when I finally had $10k to buy an admiral fund. These days, it feels pretty banal to watch my net worth go up by $10k in a single month.

7/2019: $483,830

Feels like that number would have looked a lot better had we checked yesterday. I guess $12k in a month is still a ridiculous change though.

Also, it's pretty amazing how closely turketron's numbers mirror ours.

Jun-29-19: $322k with $197k invested and $125k home equity.

Feels a bit like cheating but talked to the wifey yesterday and she was sort of surprised I wasn't considering 100% of home equity in our planning. With the extra equity I guess we are at about $447k.

She is already retired and our plan is to live mostly off of her retirement for the first 5 years or so and let the stashe grow considerably at that time if it means we can expedite the timeline a lot. She is significantly older than me which makes for an odd dynamic.

Aug-19: $204485 invested + $250k equity = $454k

Welcome new people!

I didn't make much headway last month with market headwinds, and some sizeable auto and veterinary expenses. Oh well!
Up $1,155.87 to $307,238.45.

Including IRAs, 401(k), HSAs, and Investment Account.

Feb 1, 2019 - $253,172
Mar 1, 2019 - $265,289
Apr 1, 2019 - $275,052
May 1, 2019 - $288,722
June 1, 2019 - $274,536
July 1, 2019 - $294,229
Aug 1, 2019 - $299,759

Bumbling along hoping to hit that elusive $300K! I stopped contributing to the Investment Account as we are sending our cash to a high yield savings account for our move abroad. Once overseas, will only see market gains as I have no plans to contribute to my accounts...as of now. So it will be a long time before I see $500K for my accounts. But Freedom of my time is more important :)

   Date (2019)       Liquid NW            Gain
   Jan 1       $212,860
   Feb 1       $230,743
   Mar 1       $244,321
   Apr 1       $252,750
   May 1       $263,658
   June 1       $252,691
   July 1       $287,493
   August 1       $299,427 (+11,934)

Lots of savings and the market hurt the total the last few days here so I'm happy with the gain (happy isn't a strong enough word).

I don't count my house equity, so this is just investments minus loans (I invest instead of paying off my low interest loans).

Whoops, instead of copying and editing last months post, I just revised it all instead of creating a new post.. Here we go..

Tracking liquid net worth only: Cash/Savings/Investments

Feb 1, 2016 - $90k
Apr 1, 2016 - $100k
Jan 1, 2017 - $177k
(Took 7 month sabbatical between Jan 1st 2017 and December 1st 2017)
Dec 1, 2017 - $187k
Jan 1, 2018 - $196k
Feb 1, 2018 - $214,462
Mar 1, 2018 - $225,651
Apr 1, 2018 - $238,764
May 1, 2018 - $251,725
June 1, 2018 - $265,145
July 1, 2018 - $272,423
Aug 1, 2018 - $277,896
Sep 1, 2018 - $298,543
Oct 1, 2018 - $296,603
Nov 1, 2018 - $288,618
Dec 1, 2018 - $304,127
Jan 1, 2019 - $294,621
Feb 1, 2019 - $326,081
Mar 1, 2019 - $354,771
Apr 1, 2019 - $384,308
May 1, 2019 - $407,770
June 1, 2019 - $404,625
July 1, 2019 - $420,082
Aug 1, 2019 - $441,976

Pretty decent month. My actual savings was a bit over $19k, then a bit of stock market growth. We sold our camping trailer for $4150 which helped offset the cost of last months new trailer purchase a little bit.

August is a 3 pay check month so we should be looking at around $23k-$25k in savings depending on a few things. I hit the max social security contributions at the end of July, so that should bump our take home a bit. My wife started dog sitting during the day (lady drops her dog off in the morning and picks her up in the afternoon) and that gets us about $500/mo extra.

I am slightly concerned regarding our taxes as I claim married and 2, when we don’t have children. I did the same last year, but I also switched jobs in the summer so I wayyyy over contributed to S.S., so I got a huge chunk back there and it mostly balanced out. I know that the “smart” thing to do would be to not care and if I have to pay in, I pay in.. I have more than enough cash in my emergency fund to not think twice about, but I feel like if I have to pay in $10k, it’ll mentally annoy me a bit. Maybe what I could do is instead of considering it in my “spending” for next year in the month I pay it, I could actually just take it out of my 2019 total earnings.

Few things to think about.. Still on track to hit 500k by October or November if the market stays level. This would put me going from $250k to $500k over 17-18 months.. Pretty wild to think about.

Anyway, glad to be here. My first goal is just to stay here, not get demoted back to the previous pond.

First of all, congrats and welcome to all the new members to the boring middle known as "life"! My numbers are net worth and include primary home.

January 1, 2019 - $417,324        -$1,684
February 1, 2019 - $424,732      +$7,408
March 1, 2019 - $431,780          +$7,049
April 1, 2019 - $442,293            +$10,512
May 1, 2019 - $449,638             +$7,345
June 1, 2019 - $437,156            -$12,482
July 1, 2019 - $444,733             +$7,576
August 1, 2019 - $453,785        +$9,051

I got a confirmed 10% raise starting yesterday, and working on an executive opportunity in a connected organization that would likely be greater than another 25% raise. I'm absolutely amazed that with a little attention and focus (and don't discount luck), how quickly these numbers can grow. My family never had money and still don't have much. 5 years ago $500,000 never seemed possible never mind millionaire status. 5 years and 3 months since I paid off student debt and I was worth $0. Next update may still be down due to a little stock market turmoil and some more tuition payments coming.

August 15: Have hit 310.  WOOO.  Next month probably won't be a huge increase, as September is the most expensive month of the year with the rentree and I want to just pay the kids' school tuition(*) and activities in a lump sum instead of being nibbled to death by ducks (THE DUCKS ARE PAYMENTS) all freaking school year, which is what literally everybody else does.

(*)Not much of this is actually tuition--it's mostly the yearly lunch fees.  The choices here are either pay the lunch fees or bring your kids home for lunch, and there's no way the timing works out on the latter option, which really only works if you live within a block or two of school.

Goal is to hit 410 by the end of the year.  Maybe too aggressive, we'll see.

Hello all,

First post here, happy to have found a community to share my goals !
Current net worth at 273k euros (yes I'm in Europe) at age 32 (not counting home equity), goal is 300 before year end, then at least +100k a year to achieve 1M before the age of 40.
After this I don't know what I'll do :D

Thanks for all your inspiring posts !

Welcome Natha!

You're well on track for your age and goals here. Does the +100k / year count market gains? If all goes according to plan (history, subject to change, etc) your last few years will probably way outstrip that if you keep it up. At least I'm hoping mine do..

Thanks!
I'm counting only on savings, I d like to keep them around 120k /year, with a baby growing up it might not be easy.
I don't want to "bet" on market gains, and my asset allocation is probably not as aggressive as many US investors.

Up $6,815 to $359,180.
Up $84,737 yoy.

Lower income this month as I've continued to take off an extra day/wk to spend with my mom. That will continue. I've asked to be changed to a PT schedule, but so far they seem reluctant. Expenses weren't as bad as I thought they'd be, but they will be next month for sure. Still, pretty good month all considered. Was able to save about $3,500. Rest was market.

Aug-19: $204485 invested + $250k equity = $454k

Sep-19: $204404 invested + $250k equity = $454k so ultimately a flat month.

Should see a decent bump in equity come Sept though, bonus will go towards our 2nd mortgage.

Updated home equity after appraisal. Refinanced our mortgage - extra cash flow for investing! Looking at a small home improvement project this fall, then buying a rental property shortly thereafter. Crossing my fingers for a couple small pay raises that could materialize soon.

Goal is to hit 410 by the end of the year.  Maybe too aggressive, we'll see.

September 1:  Have hit 343,890.  Can't get an answer from the school on paying in a lump sum because reasons, so no school-related hit yet, but will definitely pay for dance class in lump sum and that should be this month.

Investments only; household combined.  If my spreadsheet assumptions hold true, we will cross $500K sometime in first half of 2022 2021

07/31/19 - $330,406
08/31/19 - $437,870 (large windfall that went into TFSA + quarterly RRSP cont; without these, would have been slightly down for month)

Sept 1, 2019 - $296,607 - that market is a killer.... but one day, I will reach and stay above $300k :)
