Sept. 2018 $252,544.08
Nov.  2018 $248,197.15
Dec.  2018 $256,394.61
Jan. 2019 $252,481.67

(I skipped Oct, as we went from middle-of-the month reporting in Sept to first-of-the-month accounting for Nov)

Well...we're basically right back to Sept, and it would have been worse had we not kept plowing $ into investments all fall.

Never joined this group, but last year I kept track of our accounts every month for the first time. I didn't realize just how brutal December was until this morning. But seeing some other people with similar numbers was really helpful in October and November when their net worth fell about the same, so I figured I'd post mine.

Will go ahead and back fill all my numbers:

12/2014: $97,686
12/2015: $129,157
12/2016: $206,179
12/2017: $317,990

1/2018: $341,983
2/2018: $333,875
3/2018: $328,485
4/2018: $338,787
5/2018: $353,747
6/2018: $361,028
7/2018: $381,336
8/2018: $402,486
9/2018: $408,560
10/2018: $383,538
11/2018: $397,907
12/2018: $366,214

I think the part that stings the most is we actually had more than $50k in contributions but ended up with less than that at the end of the year. Oh well, it'll just make the bounce back better.

Hello, stock market volatility. Paid off a small student loan with a variable interest rate since rates were set to increase on 12/31/18. Happy to buy some more shares with our final paycheck deductions of 2018. And I guess glad that I didn't slip back into the race to $250k thread - although maybe that'll happen next month :/

Yeah, I was disappointed at first that my net worth is actually lower this year vs last, despite maxing HSA, IRA, 401k, and selling my house and putting $75k into additional taxable investments right at the market peak. Then I remembered that I'm still relatively early in my contribution phase, and buying on sale is far more beneficial to me now than it will be in 5 years!

Thanks! He is, but it's a work in progress getting his blood pressure under control.

Down -$525.42 to $282,014.86. Spinnin' wheels. Could be worse. A Happy New Year to everyone!

Glad to hear that :)

My net worth fell by 5.1% or $13,061.67 to $242,205.85 last month. International holdings, which performed well in 2017, did the opposite last year. It's good to have stocks on sale at this stage of the FIRE journey :)

Happy New Year!

August 2017 - $295k
September 2017 - $310k
October 2017 - $314k
November 2017 - $319k
December 2017 - $328k
January 2018 - $336k
February 2018 - $331k
March 2018 - $341k
April 2018 - $345k
May 2018 - $353k
June 2018 - $376k
July 2018 - $379k
August 2018 - $379k
September 2018 - $377k
October 2018 - $369k

November 2018 - $382k
1/5/2019 - $374k

Decided to engage in some market timing and reallocated my entire IRA to cash yesterday.  If market moves up in the next few weeks, I'll do the same with my 401k too.  Set future 401k contributions to aggressive growth funds and will be looking to slowly get back in on the dips.

June 1, 2017:    $349,328
July 1, 2017:     $362,675
Aug. 1, 2017:    $373,748
Sept. 1, 2017:   $378,549
Oct. 1, 2017:     $389,829
Nov. 1, 2017:    $396,444
Dec. 1, 2017:    $407,245
Jan. 1, 2018:     $412,626
Feb. 1, 2018:     $433,521
March 1, 2018:  $418,873
April 1, 2018:    $410,875
May 1, 2018:     $439,719
June 1, 2018:    $446,814
July 1, 2018:     $451,330

Dec. 1, 2018:    $473,869
Jan. 1, 2019:     $436,390
Got hit with some unexpected emergency expenses last month and my (admittedly aggressive) index/mutual fund mix got hammered.  Glad stocks are on sale and hope they stay down until April when I should be able to dump in my 401k match/bonus.

Been missing a while. New job - although one year old now is all consuming. Made progress for the year and have a few numbers -

If I believe zestimate i am currently at $ 573,507 in personal capital
If you believe my conservative spreadsheet I am at $520,223 (I keep my house price on the low side)

I has been a great year financially but I think at a cost of personal happiness and well-being. My fundamental question has become how much is enough, when is it enough and how to I get where I want to go but not sacrifice.

July 2016 - $257,306
August 2016 - $264,625
September 2016 - $270,695
October 2016 - $283528
November 2016 - $291396
December 2016 - $295603
January 2017 - $303,195
March 2017 - $333,323
April 2017 - $340,884
May 2017 - $346,568
June 2017 - $357,230
July 2017 - $365,912
August 2017 - $370,689
September 2017 - $380,412
October 2017 - $390,025
November 2017 - $400,070
December 2017 - $404,188
January 2018 - $419426
February 2018 - $423744
April 2018 - $436203
December 2018 - $523,330

It was looking better until stocks went on sale. I think I hit $500,000 in September.  I cannot believe that we increased by a quarter of a million (sounds good) in 2 years.

June 1 2018:  $256,005.82
July 1 2018:  $259,624.40

December 1 2018:  $278,858.64

Jan 1 2019:  $272,446.08   Aaaaaand back down.  I forgot I track our income one month behind, so the December bonuses won't show up until the Feb 1 post.  Our NW went up about $50,000 in 2018, so that's nice!  I'm looking forward to when it goes up as much as our net pay, then gross pay, then multiples of that!

Dates   Net
Jan-18   $146,942.28
Feb-18   $150,841.13
Mar-18   $156,742.55
Apr-18   $172,756.36
May-18   $201,801.96
Jun-18   $214,786.28
Jul-18   $231,769.16 - finished paying off wife's student loans
Aug-18      $249,123.47 - graduated 100k-250k thread
Sep-18      $258,395.09
Oct-18      $248,179.75
Nov-18     $257,003.34

Dec-18     $242,073.48

Seriously tired of waffling around this number. Since the end of August when I first hit $250k, I've shoveled in $41,296.34 of net worth outside of market activity and managed to drop 8k. 50k evaporated. Looking up so far this month, though. Long term, long term.

Been chugging along in the 100K-250K thinking these are all just retirement accounts.

So here I am.  A newbie that is not a newbie.

                    Retirement  +  Non-Retirement Non-College   +  Property, Net  +  Car        =   Net Worth
20190101:      $  150.4                         $   54.4                        $   236.2        $20.0           $   461.0

Behind what?

The quick rise.

13k between the end of December and mid January? The market went up and we received pay from professional salaries.  If you’re talking about the December rise, about 45% of my annual compensation comes in the form of a year end bonus. As a result, December looks odd.

I'm going to have to drop out of this thread.  After the divorce 2 months ago, I'm left with about $100k in my savings so I'll be heading back over to the "Race from 100k to 250k".  Taking a hit like this wouldn't be so bad, but alimony here in CO is pretty brutal, it's really going to eliminate my ability to recover over the next decade or so.

Thanks.  I wish I had more tax deferred options for retirement accounts. I bleed taxable income and qualify for like no tax deductions.

Hello! I'm joining this thread already having made it a good portion of the way to $500k. I'm looking to save $130k this year and am hoping to finish the race by Dec 31st. We'll see. My numbers are my total net worth. Good luck everyone!

Dec 1, 2018 - $304,127
Jan 1, 2019 - $294,621
Feb 1, 2019 - $326,081

Good month of returns. Spending was within budget and savings was good as well. I took a week off over Christmas (unpaid) and that was a bit of a setback on this months check.

February my $6500 tax return should hit and March is a 3 paycheck month. Should have approximately $40k-$45k savings between those two months.

If I have no major hiccups this year in work, spending, or the market, hitting the $500k club could be a very realistic goal. I’m more driven than ever right now.

I'm joining! We had crossed over above $250k briefly back in Nov, took the Dec hit and dropped below, and now we're back above the line! I was lucky enough that our combined NW was just about $0 when we got married, and I've been tracking monthly since just after that. (The numbers are for the beginning of each month).

2015:
(Jun, ~$0)
Oct- 19.9
Nov- 28.9
Dec- 32.0
2016:
Jan- 19.7
Feb- 24.7
Mar- 38.9
Apr- 53.0
May- 57.6
Jun- 59.8
Jul- 62.5
Aug- 73.1
Sep- 95.1
Oct- 96.2
Nov- 101.9 <---- $0 to $100k, ~16 months
Dec- 108.3
2017:
Jan- 113.4
Feb- 111.2
Mar- 117.1
Apr- 119.9
May- 123.9
Jun- 126.7
Jul- 129.9
Aug- 136.0
Sep- 132.5
Oct- 163.5
Nov- 165.5
Dec- 179.1
2018:
Jan- 185.9
Feb- 193.0
Mar- 190.6
Apr- 193.9
May- 184.8
Jun- 190.8
Jul- 210.3
Aug- 212.1
Sep- 224.3
Oct- 244.7
Nov- 225.7
Dec- 258.4 <--- $100k to $250k 26 months
2019:
Jan-  240.0
Feb- 262.7

I wonder if we can get to $500k in less time than it took to get from $100k to $250k?
