+$110k this year! Aiming, for just under 100k in any given year of savings. Though, I am really only tracking worth gains, not savings directly. (So it includes gains/losses in the market) Given 4 month(s) left, and (-10k) more to go, I hit this goal!

401k and both IRAs all maxed.

PS. In June I started getting paid once a month, at the end of the month, so in general I am counting a day or two into the next month so I get to include my paycheck (or doing an educated guess), otherwise, directly on the last day of the month it would look pretty sad!

WOOOO! HAPPY DANCE ON THE GOAL CROSS!

Woohoo, made it!

Sep 2017 - $538k
Aug 2017 - $497k
July 2017 - $483k
Jun 2017 - $479k
May 2017 - $454k
Apr 2017 - $448k
Mar 2017 - $435k
Feb 2017 - $433k
Jan 2017 - $410k
Oct 2016 - $370k
Sep 2016 - $330k

35k of the jump is adjusting upwards for home value, but even without it we'd have made it to $500k. Unbelievable to have made $200k of progress in a year, even if $100k is just pretend money (real estate in our neighborhood is just silly right now, my conservative estimate of home value increase isn't even close to what the internet/Zillow thinks it should be). Good luck to everyone here, and onward and upward we go to the next thread!

I'm at $215 including an IRA.  Husband has around $50k in his own account.  So I guess we also belong in this thread.  Do I get to count the IRA?  What about home equity?

Husband has the $50k just sitting in a bank account not earning decent interest but that is for another thread.

You can count whatever you like. Some people, like myself, are doing household net worth. Others are only counting invested assets. Some people are only counting assets that are in their own name and excluding their spouse. I'm sure there are some other reporting nuances as well.

Looking like I'm going to finish up the year at approx. $332k. Savings rate was approx. 43% after I dropped a bunch of money on hobby stuff this year. It ought to be back in the realm of normal next year.

So,

Dec. 2015 = ~$288k (corrected, pension money was being misallocated and fixed in Feb.)
Dec. 2016 = ~$332k

For a net of +$44k this year.

Broke $400k NW yesterday! Currently averaging $5k/month savings this year. BAM!

Alright, I think I've spent enough time creeping in the background that I have to officially join!

Date          NW
Apr-16    $155,162
May-16    $157,463
Jun-16    $163,173
Jul-16    $165,471
Aug-16    $176,840
Sep-16    $184,298
Oct-16    $193,597
Nov-16    $209,710
Dec-16    $243,325
Jan-17    $252,675
Feb-17    $270,123
Mar-17    $273,511
Apr-17    $295,594
May-17    $300,987
Jun-17    $308,234
Jul-17    $316,951
Aug-17    $321,753

Had great progression over the last year with +145k in NW. About 100k of this is house equity with the remainder being tax sheltered accounts (RRSP,TFSA,Etc). Current projections put us at 500k ~Mar 2019 which will mean it will be a total of 28 months to get from 250k-500k.

Here's to hoping that happens!

I've been a longtime lurker and have been inspired by all of you over the past several years—especially all of the encouragement that takes place in the gauntlet threads. My wife and I listened to Dave Ramsey on a cross-country road trip together before we got married (we just celebrated 3 years of marriage), which put a fire under us and encouraged us to get out of debt. Neither of us made more than $40k per year at the time, but we tightened our belts, made games of coming up with inexpensive recipes, had the time of our lives doing inexpensive hobbies (a lot of national forest camping and hiking), and managed to pay off $58,000 of our combined student loans in less than 12 months. We've never been able to brag about it to anyone, despite it being our proudest financial achievement, and it still feels funny to type it out.

We've since gotten married, purchased our first home, flipped and sold our first home, and purchased our dream ranch in the middle of the Rocky Mountains (an old 1800's cabin that we purchased for $80k less than we sold our first home for). We now have a baby joining our homestead in December, and the stories and accomplishments of the Mustachians here have inspired us to keep the fire going in order to eventually FIRE. It's very humbling to be part of a community where folks are so determined and relentless in the pursuit of their goals.

We started tracking our net worth last year, so I thought I would post our numbers here to keep track of them. Our businesses produce more income in the summer months vs winter, making consistency a challenge but we're trying to focus on yearly improvement.

Oh hey, I should have posted this past month since stuff happened.

Cash & invested / including home equity:
Nov 15: $165k / $236k
Dec 15: $162k / $257k
Jan 16: $152k / $259k
Feb 16: $166k / $275k
Mar 16: $185k / $295k
Apr 16: $192k / $305k
May 16: $201k/ $315k
Jun 16: $204k / $320k
Jul 16: $221k / $339k
Aug 16: $227k / $347k
Sep 16: $230k / $352k
Oct 16: $234k / $357k
Nov 16: $242k / $367k
Dec 16: $276k / $403k
Jan 17: $289k / $419k
Feb 17: $317k / $448k
Mar 17: $328k / $460k
Apr 17: $334k / $470k
May 17: $346k / $483k
Jun 17: $343k / $482k
Jul 17: $353k / $493k
Aug 17: $373k / $516k

Bonus month, hence the big jump.

Things are going to stay slow though. With the new baby, wife has decided she is either staying at home entirely or going part-time 1-2 days a week, so less income will mean slower savings for at least the next couple of years. Will have a dip here too soon because we have some house work still to get done (new heating, 1-2 other high-ish ticket items) but barring a big drop in home value or the market should stay above $500k total NW counting house value.

Amazing Progress by many on here. Motivates me all the more. I've only been tracking since the end of January 2016, but here is what our breakdown looks like:

Investments/ Inv with Home Equity + Cars (I depreciate these every 6 months) + HSAs + 529s

Feb. 16: $187.8/$315
Mar. 16: $206.6/$341 (Bonus)
Apr. 16: $208.7/$346.1
May 16: $211.8/$348.9
Jun. 16: $215.6/$355.4
Jul. 16: $223.8/$364.2
Aug. 16: $221.5/ $362.2
Sep. 16: $225.7/$366.3
Oct. 16: $222.3/$363.7
Nov. 16: $232.3/ $374.6
Dec. 16: $244.9/$388.1
Jan. 17: $249.5/ $387.3
Feb. 17: $263.9/$402.2
Mar. 17: $273.8/ $426.2 (Bonus)
Apr. 17: $282.9/ $438.1
May 17: $285.4/$441.2
Jun. 17: $295.9/ $452.5
Jul. 17: $307.2/$464.4
Aug. 17: $309.6/$467.3

For FI purposes I only look at the # on the left.

Thanks for the kind words! As of 2016, our expenses were at $52k per year, but we've cut that down to $36k per year in 2017, with plans to get it down to $32k per year in 2018. We hope to be mortgage-free about the same time we become FI, which would put our annual expenses at $19k.

Always thought myself a decen saver, found mmm in late 2016 and cut expenses to ramp up savings. Bought a 14 year old car in order to sell 4 year old car in January 2017 and saved the proceeds.

Hi there,
Thought I'd add our Net Worth values to the race :)

As of September we've broken the New Zealand $500k, but in terms of USD we've got another year or so to go!
Projected that we'll achieve this goal around Dec 2018 - let's see if we can get there sooner!

Only one number as we have no home equity - we're renters!  Number includes retirement fund NZ equivalent, cash savings, bonds and diversified investments.

June 2013 : $65,047 -- Found out about MMM and start tracking investments
Sept 2014 : $146,306
Sept 2015 : $202,719
Sept 2016 : $265,945
Sept 2017 : $371,018

+$126k this year! Aiming, for just under 100k in any given year of savings. Though, I am really only tracking worth gains, not savings directly. (So it includes gains/losses in the market) Given 3 month(s) left, and (-26k) more to go, I hit this goal!

As long as the market stays flat or slightly up I will be crossing the finish line at the end of OCT!!! Let's GOOO!

Hi folks,

I am just joining the $250k club this month with a five year plan to retirement (2017 is year one). I started saving in earnest last January and have a high savings rate (75%+) as my employment includes housing, utilities, cell phone etc. Below is my progress since January. Figures include 401K, IRA and savings and are for the first of the month. The market has been good to us this year.

October 2016    $138,000 (started new job, maxed out 401k + IRA)
January 2017    171,752
February           184,041
March               194,983
April                 202,197
May                  216,467
June                 224,537
July                  230,519
August              239,299
September        245,636
October             255,013

May 2017: CHF 231'000

As I paid CHF 2'700 in taxes and the mortgage (CHF 1'380) for the last three months was due I'm satisfied.

July 2017: CHF 243'000 (that was a good month)
August 2017: CHF 247000
September 2017: CHF 256000

I can start the next race.

October we are moving to a Lower COL, which means liquidating the house equity, yay cash monies!

It's kind of impressive how fast things go when the market is nice...

Have added $90+ net worth compared to last year at this time. Almost all of that is investments, which includes 401k/403b/IRA maxes but still, a good chunk of growth.
