Apr-17   255,873
May-17  263,835
Jun-17   268,100
Jul-17    273,100

I won't see a check this month so I expect my August number to be a bit low. Still plan on making it to 300K by the end of the year. Happy that my net worth has increased by 17K in the last four months.

Visited family in Idaho and managed to fuel up only 4 times (I'm in CA) for a cost of $120. Gas is super cheap once you remove yourself from the CA Bay Area. Found out later I could have probably flown Allegiant for $200 and then done away with the hotel rooms. Curses!

1/17 - $352,398
5/17 - $378,770
6/17 - $401,823
7/17 - $425,070

Such exciting growth, although it makes me want to quit my job.  Have five more years though...

Tempting fate by posting before market close Monday, but I think we'll close out July at about $480k. My income drops back to normal levels for the rest of the year, so I'm targeting $500k by Sept 30th. Looking forward to the underwhelming feeling that people seem to report when hitting big milestones.

Nov 15: $255k
Dec 15: $256k
Jan 16: $241k
Feb 16: $255k
Mar 16: $277k
Apr 16: $290k
May 16: $294k
Jun 16: $305k
Jul 16: $330k
Aug 16: $336k
Sept 16: $345k
Oct 16: $351k
Nov 16: $363k
Dec 16: $376k
Jan 17: $387k
Feb 17: $404k
Mar 17: $408k
Apr 17: $421k
May 17: $431k
Jun 17: $450k
Jul 17: $480k

July-17     $496,327.00 (+50,322) ........ so...... close....... one .... more ....month ......

Added news, we just had a Baby Girl!!! Healthy, fat, and happy.

Wife is threatening to return to work full time after her 3 months are up.  This is good for us financially as she would be more satisfied professionally and escape "Mommy Fog" as well as make a great FT income (with wonderful benefits) and accelerate our retirement staching, but this would occur at the cost of increased stress at work and home for both of us as we do the Dual Income with Kids daily juggling act. We will see...

JGS

Aug-17 $508,958.72 (+12,631.72)

Race Over! It's been 19 months since I started.  Avg monthly NW gain was around $13,200/month.

Off to the next race. Thanks for all the support folks! The encouragement and viewpoints on MMM Forum as well as this thread have been invaluable. Most importantly for this thread is that it keeps me focused on achievable step-by-step goals, as opposed to on some mythical goal 6-10 years in my future.

Jan 2017  $275k
Feb 2017  $287k $???
Mar 2017 $276k
Apr 2017 $282k
May 2017 $287k
Jun 2017 $290k

Jul 2017 $304k

I'm surprised at the jump. A windfall was about half that. I'm thinking investment gains were the rest as the last month has been a wash with increased spending offsetting normal monthly savings account.

May 1: 282,665
June 1: 284,827
July 1: 292,037

August 1: 293,168

Decided to use the original purchase price instead of the Zillow estimate for home value, so this brought me down about a month's progress (or my previous totals were falsely inflated). My investments went up about 5k, and the paycheck I received this morning helped put me over last month's total.

Baby is here! We have high deductible insurance so plenty of doctors bills to pay, and wife was off unpaid for 12 weeks, and went back yesterday, so obviously some slow growth. August should be a nice bump if the market cooperates. Wife back to work, hit our OOP max so no more medical bills, and mid-year bonus comes in August. Home prices on our block suggest that I'm undervaluing the house, but I want to remain conservative there.

+$96k this year! Aiming, for just under 100k in any given year of savings. Though, I am really only tracking worth gains, not savings directly. (So it includes gains/losses in the market) Given 5 month(s) left, and (4k) more to go, I should hit this goal!

401k and both IRAs all maxed.

Jan 1:  $170,881  (start of tracking)
Feb 1:  $183,768
Mar 1:  $197,020
Apr 1:  $202,363
May 1: $223,229
Jun 1:  $244,355
Jul 1:   $249,532
Aug 1:  $262,500

Looks like we are freshly-minted 1/4 millionaires!

Since discovering MMM less than a year ago our NW has grown at a good clip.  We have been saving more than we ever had in the past (many years of zero or negative saving) and we've also done some non-mustachian investing in single stocks.  Fortunately the stock picks have done exceedingly well and have powered most of our NW growth.  Yes we are due some facepunches but it seems that up to now we've been winning the stock-picking lottery (see the "Oops, I stock picked" thread in Investor Alley if interested).

In any event, we're glad to be making such progress and are happy to join this thread.

                    Investments/Cash/Assets     House*    House Appreciation    Total
August 2014              30k                        100k              0k                      130k
August 2015               ???                        100k             ???                  More than 130k
August 2016               65k                       120k           ~60k                      245k
August 2017              250k                      130k           ~338k                    718k

Just looking at investments, math tells we will hit the 500k mark in ~3 years. We are working on uping our savings rate to speed that up.

We may have some big life changes coming up (moving from a VHCOL city to a MCOL city), which will liquidate some of that stupid housing money. (Or the bubble is bursting and we will LOSE IT ALL. Any guesses what city i'm living in :D)

Liquid net worth hit $330,000 today.  Don't know why, but that feels kind of awesome.

Once we hit $350,000 we'll have more in liquid savings (and retirement accounts) than we owe on our mortgage.  That will be an awesome day when it happens.

Reasonable month. No investment gains logged in off months, but lowest pet costs in a while, got paid back for electronics I sold to a family member. Had to refill my escrow for insurance after changing providers, but still overall a healthy month. Looking forward to $400k!

We are still neck and neck my friend!

  • March 1st: $298,326.11
  • April 1st: $307,087.83
  • May 1st: $321,801.45
  • June 1st: $315,121.88

Slight recovery in investments but mostly additional savings. Also, changed the reporting to the end of the month, I should have been doing that all along.

We also had large expenses over the past couple of months.  Mostly it just sucked up our cashflow during that time.  Net worth still went up, in spite of that.  Crazy!

Yeah, darn. You only saved ~$5k last month. And $100k+ over the last year. Looks like good progress to me.

I want to join this race but I'm nervous about posting my numbers on the internet.

Did anyone else feel this way? How did you convince yourself?

Did you give off any identifying information in this thread or your sign up? I really don't know how someone could attack you by just knowing a NW and having zero way of knowing whether that is tied to specific assets or accounts. I would be way more concerned with using google docs, excel or mint to track my networth as account information is posted.

Jun 2017: $251k

July 2017: $256k

August 2017: $261k. Woohoo!

Getting closer. Our $150k increase in the last year just seems unreal.

Spouse and I both made moves to increase future income this month. She negotiated a 10% raise that starts Sept 1 and I picked up an online course that will bring in $15-$20k per year. Once I get my lectures recorded, the course will run mostly passively, so that's exciting.

Nov 15: $255k
Dec 15: $256k
Jan 16: $241k
Feb 16: $255k
Mar 16: $277k
Apr 16: $290k
May 16: $294k
Jun 16: $305k
Jul 16: $330k
Aug 16: $336k
Sept 16: $345k
Oct 16: $351k
Nov 16: $363k
Dec 16: $376k
Jan 17: $387k
Feb 17: $404k
Mar 17: $408k
Apr 17: $421k
May 17: $431k
Jun 17: $450k

Jun-17   268,100
Jul-17    273,100

Rough not seeing a check for one month, but I have plenty of cash on hand. I actually did ok. And I saw a raise.

I'm now setting aside around $5900 per month.

I certainly can't complain about a 3.1% jump in NW in a month.  We could have done (much) better with our savings rate but overall we did well.

We are just shy of being $100k up for the year.  Incredible.

It's really hard to believe we're up $36k YTD. We really focused on saving last year until it hurt. This year hasn't been as extreme due to focus on other life events, but it's really nice to know the habits developed over the last few years continue, even though it feels like we're spending "way way more," when in reality it's still not "that much."
