why not try doing 250 to 500 in quicker time than you did 100 to 250?
Ha.  Ok, sounds good to me.  That will be quite the challenge.

16 months is my goal then.  $500k by Feb 2017.  That's $15,625/mo. I don't see how this will happen, but here goes!

Done!  Didn't hit the 16 month challenge marty threw down, but I managed to pull it off in 19 months. Not too shabby.

May 2017: $502k

Ok, well, I guess we're off to $1M now... and beyond!

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Starting 10/2016 - $310,000 (rough estimate since we still have a few accounts left to be merged)
11/2016 - $328k
12/2016- $347k
1/2017 $358.7k
3/2017 - $367.2

5/2017 - $382.2

Seems like we're really starting to pick up steam. We've gotten our savings rate back up to where we want it - doing a 60 day frugal 'detox' really helped with this. We took 60 days where we really watched our spending, didn't go out to eat at all etc and I've noticed our habits lately are just much better again. If we keep this up we might see $410k before our first anniversary which would be +100k gain in our first year of marriage, I'd be super happy with that =D

Thanks JGS!  All is well with the little one.  He's fat & happy at 4 months.  And thanks to all for the congrats on $500k (although I'll certainly be back in the $400's after today's market results!).  But the momentum is in the right direction & a downturn will just allow me DCA in at lower prices.  Milestones are fun, but they kind of just come & go... until the big one, I suspect.  Not to burst anyone's bubble, but by the time you claw your way past $100, 200, etc, getting to $500 doesn't create any new sensation (if it's not your FI #). Maybe that's not true for all... It may just coincide with where you are on your journey.  I remember being more impacted by $100, then $250 & even $300.  $500 just seemed kind of inevitable.  But don't get me wrong, I do look forward to getting to $750 then $1M & beyond.  Those are still important goals.  But I've stepped back from obsessive tracking & tried to focus more on enjoying life.  After all, they really are just numbers in a computer.  Once the money is basically automated there's no need to lose out on experiencing life while tracking the numbers constantly!  That's just a little window into my current mindset, anyway.

Jan 1: 236,254
Feb 1: 250,055
Mar 1: 262,196
April 1: 269,959
May 1: 282,665
June 1: 284,827

$5,500 went to fund hubby's Roth IRA, so my savings rate is nowhere near as bad as it looks. I am tracking his assets separately for the purpose of this "race". Both Roths are now fully funded and my last teaching paycheck went into taxable Vanguard. My income will be about $2000/month less during the summer (unless I work overtime, which I don't really want to do) but I am still hoping to have positive change in net worth.

I'll join the party.  I'll track both Invested and Total NW.  Part of invested is from public school retirement.  It only shows our contributions to it and not the matching portion.

April 24, 2017  Invested --$146,357   NW--$263,556

Plan is to update the 1st of every month now.

May 1, 2017  Invested --$147,575     NW --$267,242
June 1, 2017 Invested --$152,388     NW---$272,257

Just noticed that I broke the $500K mark for cash/stocks/bonds last week. This is not counting property value or my sweetie's stash. Yay!

Good job, everyone. Keep it going!

+$68k this year! Aiming, for just under 100k in any given year of savings. Though, I am really only tracking worth gains, not savings directly. (So it includes gains/losses in the market) Given 7 month(s) left, and (32k) more to go, I should hit this goal!

My 401k and both IRAs all maxed.

Wife's 401k needs to be maxed over a 12m period. HSA set to max as well by years end.

NOTE: Smallest gain this year yet, but we spent a week and a half in Tokyo UNPAID! Worth it! Another week off in June now!

Starting 10/2016 - $310,000 (rough estimate since we still have a few accounts left to be merged)
11/2016 - $328k
12/2016- $347k
1/2017 $358.7k
3/2017 - $367.2
5/2017 - $382.2

6/2017-$395.0k
Trying to get better at updating this monthly again. Last time I mentioned I'd like to see $410 by October since that would represent a $100k gain in our first year of marriage - we'll get there with our savings rate by September so pending no market crash we'll hit it :)

Setting a stretch goal to hit $500k one year from today, so 6/2018.....that's crazy to even think about and I'm super excited!! If you would have told me 5 years ago when I was just graduating from college that I'd be a year away from having a net worth of a half million dollars (or even a quarter of a million since my stache includes my DH assets) I would have laughed in your face and pointed to my student loans. Proof that the mustachian lifestyle works :)

So you guys include all net worth? ( I see some are and some aren't, but for those of you who are including all assets)  How will you decide when you can quit working for "the man"?  We are up to a little over 700K total net worth (2 rentals, 401K and IRAs)  None of which we can "eat", if you will....and we can't really pull money out of ( i know about the 72t but I wouldn't feel we have enough money to start pulling that out this early as we are in mid 40's)

See the sticky thread about Roth conversion ladders; I think it is under "taxes". Rental income is different (provided you are going to keep the units): instead of a 4% SWR, you figure out your yearly income after expenses and subtract from the amount of investment income you need

Do you mean June 1st is ~$322k? Your post from last month said May 1st was ~$312k.

That's why pensions are not really very good for our situation, they are difficult / impossible to access at a young age.  Most people work on investments outside pensions and use that for their income pre actual state retirement age.  I still have a pension but its more of a backup plan tbh.  I think if you FIRE at a young age, say 40, then any unspent income would be well invested in a pension, esp in UK where I am due to tax advantage.  but pre FIRE not maybe the best solution.

I did look at that and I"m still struggling to understand it better to get clear if it's even a real possibility, which I don't think its, but also, to understand where we are tax planning wise.  I wish there was someone I could sit down with....that wasn't trying to sell me something!  ha  I may ask my tax lady that does our taxes (whom I should probably fire and save the money!)

Just found this thread.
Will "count" investments/cash rather than net worth, since the only difference is my home equity (which I don't plan to cash in upon achieving FIRE):
June 1, 2017: $349,328

I haven't updated in a few months.  Life has gotten a bit crazy.  My dh has had a job change and we have moved.  So we will be in a mortgage for a couple of years again.  But it has the house and land that we love.

Post annual bonus:

Jan 2017: $305,000
Mar 2017: $340,000

June 2017: $368,000

I survived a layoff scare recently by transferring to a different part of the company, so we continue the steady march forward.

I have a feeling its not going to be a good month for me.  Had a quick early peek at the numbers last night and its not looking great.  Ah well, there is always next month.

UK economy seems to be on a go slow at the moment..
