Graph of everyone's progress in one messy line chart:

So is that RWD that is second in the badassity graph? Thanks for the graph, it's very enjoyable to grog.

Who's first (is that Baby Stache or the Turtle?)

My "differentiation of various tones of blue ability" is a bit limited, but I think I'm 7th or 8th from the left. I think this is a good thing.

JGS

The colors are hard to distinguish. The blue line that shoots straight up is Libertea. The first green line is CashFlowTurtle. The orange line that crosses over Libertea a couple times is bkmnky72. The grey line that takes a sudden nose dive and then jump again to break $500k is onlykelsey. There are a few lines there that are sort of overlapped: mint green line is boarder42, blue line hidden behind that is jorjor, orange line to the left of that is our topic creator BBub, and the yellow line is skcook. The pale green line ending around $400k to the left of that is Replicated.

JustGettingStarted1980, I think you are correct. The dark blue line that crosses the grey line (onlykelsey) at the end and stops just short of a dark orange line.

The current fastest user is MickeyMoustache, at $22k/month (five month sample size). Dark blue line that shoots up past $500k in the middle of the graph. That line would likely be further to the left if all the data was available starting at $250k (since I assumed $10k/month for my offset).

Is the graph from the spreadsheet? I've been forgetting to update it. Can someone post the link again?

Taking a look at my progress, I think I might reduce my "number."  I was planning on $1.2, but I'm pretty sure we can have an extravagant lifestyle on $950k, which I can hit in six years or maybe even sooner.

Damn, what a badass group!
Everyone is a winner in this race.

Agreed!

Is the graph from the spreadsheet? I've been forgetting to update it. Can someone post the link again?

I made my own spreadsheet by going through all 12 pages of posts. I didn't notice a group spreadsheet, though I might have missed it.

A slight slower month for us this month, but more importantly we broke through the £400k barrier!
  • Jan 2017 - £346,854
  • Feb 2017 - £388,581
  • Mar 2017 - £396,119
  • Apr 2017 - £401,345
I've been tracking the figures in google docs for a couple of years now so have attached a graph here.

Update:

Apr 2017 - $441k
Mar 2017 - $435k
Feb 2017 - $433k
Jan 2017 - $410k
Oct 2016 - $370k
Sep 2016 - $330k

Feeling more sanguine about our ability to reach the $500k mark sooner than later (stretch goal is later this year if the market cooperates) - I only have 3 weeks left to go with my maternity leave, and we have managed to get through this time without much trouble, thanks to freelance work and decreased spending.

I'm new to MMM and have only just added up my numbers. I'm in complete shock to realise I'm already in this range. I'm also slightly annoyed that I didn't find this earlier because I reckon I could have already retired :/. So many mistakes.

Anyway my numbers are (me, hubby, 2 kids in primary school):

Jan 2017 $368k
Feb 2017 $390k includes 20k windfall from an inheritance.
Mar 2017 $396k
Apr 2017 $398k

I kind of felt like we had nothing as very little if that is accessible.
Super 70k not accessible until age 60
Home equity 202k
Rental property equity 95k. Will be sold soon and proceeds used to reduce mortgage and make a contribution to super to reduce the tax on the capital gain.
The rest is in a mortgage offset account for emergencies. This is much higher than normal as we have paid the maximum of our mortgage allowed without penalty until the end of next year.

Well done everyone on some awesome numbers. You are all very inspiring. Thank you.

Last April is when my wife and I really got on the same page financially and started writing down goals, got aggressive paying off debt, and much more intentional with our budgeting. We're doing Dave Ramsey plan with a few exceptions.  We still contribute 14-15% to retirement, we still carry 2 credit cards that we rarely use, but both have substantial miles/points on them (We had a baby last year and haven't been able to use the airline miles/hotel points.)  and I'd give us a 7 out of 10 on the intensity scale.  We still get food from restaurants a few times a week and don't have as minimalist of a life as a lot of people on here.

We got our rental unit paid off last year, the car paid off last month, and my wife's grad school will be paid off this year.  That will only leave the mortgage.

Date  Net Worth                               Change
5-16   $324,500
6-16   $332,000                              $7,500
7-16   $339,500                              $7,500
8-16   $356,500                              $17,000
9-16   $360,000                              $3,500 (paid about $6k in baby related medical this month)
10-16 $371,300                              $11,300
11-16 $380,000                              $8,700
12-16 $400,000                              $20,000
1-17   $414,500                              $14,500
2-17   $427,000                              $12,500
3-17   $449,400                              $22,400
4-17   $457,500                              $8,100

1/17 - $352,398
5/17 - $378,770

Yes, I fudged a little on the date, but I put in numbers when I can (I mean to do it quarterly).  I'm also still trying to figure out how to quote something more than a page back.  Oh well...onward and upward!

I haven't updated in a while but as of 1/1/17 I am up to 354,045.50.  About 31K is investment gains, 8K employee match, and 37 contributions

updating balance. up to $386,704 invested. Had our tax return and a work bonus in the first quarter. We ended up getting a pretty big tax return, so we have changed our withholding, and that allowed us to change our 401(k)/429(b) to go up to 15% each.

I'll join the party.  I'll track both Invested and Total NW.  Part of invested is from public school retirement.  It only shows our contributions to it and not the matching portion.

Moving over from the 100--250K thread.

Savings rate is appx. 80%. Net worth includes my pension contributions that can be rolled over to an IRA at separation from employment. I'm making max contributions to a 403(b), 457(b), and a Roth IRA. Will be opening an HSA once I switch plans at work. No home equity.

Hoping things pick up a little at this point. My goal is to get to 300K by the end of the year, and 500K in 3 more years (or less).

2017 FEB:403k(+21k)
2017 MAR:416k(+13k)
2017 APR:427k(+11k)

+$59k this year! Aiming, for just under 100k in any given year of savings. Though, I am really only tracking worth gains, not savings directly. (So it includes gains/losses in the market) Given 8 month(s) left, and (41k) more to go, I should hit this goal!

My 401k and both IRAs all maxed.

Wife's 401k needs to be maxed over a 12m period. HSA set to max as well by years end.

Apr 2017 $282k

Despite a $1k state tax bill and an expensive April, still pleased to see such an increase.

@boarder42 congrats!

Jumping in - we track investments over NW b/c our debt is minimal at at 0% interest.  Today, we're at $342k invested. We're aiming to hit 500k by June of 2019 and are tracking a bit ahead of schedule due to a lump sum severance that has allowed us to seriously bump up our contributions for this first part of 2017, but also means we're down one income for awhile.

We are sitting at 252k as of today. I am sure we will go down before 250k before hopefully hitting 300k by the end of the year if we have a good year.

I guess it is time to update. As of this morning, I am at 286k. Hope to hit 325k by the end of the year and 500k by the end of 2019. Onward and upward.

April 1: 269,959

May 1: 282,665

$5643 of my gain was money I already had, just wasn't tracking. It was in an old CD that finally reached the maturity date, so I can make it get to work. Even without it, I am well on track to meet my goal of 300 by the end of the year. Everyone here is making remarkable progress.

1/1/16 = £288,240
1/1/17 = £374,668
1/2/17 = £388,289
1/3/17 = £386,895
1/4/17 = £400,066
1/5/17 = £411,208

Pushing as hard as I can at the moment.  Had a few extra costs this month which did not help.
Next month Q2 property price update should help the numbers.

A flat line month this month, despite regular contributions our pensions and ISAs all took a dip. Hopefully back over £400k next month!

You're actually up 2.7% compared to last month in USD, thanks to the change in exchange rate.

9/1/16: $217,000
10/1/16: $220,000
11/1/16: $232,000
12/1/16: $234,500

3/1/17: $254,000
4/1/17: $252,000
5/7/17: $262,000

I'm still spending a *ton* of money on furnishing and renovating the new house and on bachelorettes/weddings (all temporary expenses), so I'm pretty shocked to see that I'm still making progress. It seems like after you reach 250k money just magically keeps appearing lol

I've noticed this too!  I can save (myself) about $35k per year.   I also have a stache of $310k.  So if if the market goes up 10% annually, that's $31k that it adds all by itself.  That's almost more than I can contributed even with aggressive savings!

Of course, when you add those 2 together (savings plus gains), that's when things really amp up.

Including primary residence home investment property equity from now on, as I'm a bit confused on whether it's best (for my mindset and FIRE calcs) to keep track of equity in rental properties, but this'll do.

why not try doing 250 to 500 in quicker time than you did 100 to 250?
Ha.  Ok, sounds good to me.  That will be quite the challenge.

16 months is my goal then.  $500k by Feb 2017.  That's $15,625/mo. I don't see how this will happen, but here goes!

Done!  Didn't hit the 16 month challenge marty threw down, but I managed to pull it off in 19 months. Not too shabby.

May 2017: $502k

Ok, well, I guess we're off to $1M now... and beyond!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
