Great month for contributions and market gains. My original goal was $355,000 at year end, which right now  seems easily attainable baring a market correction.

Hi all!

Making the jump up from the 100K to 250K thread.

I've broken out the numbers into individual and joint (with DW) net worth. We do not own a house (yet), so numbers reflect cash/equivalents and retirement accounts. Our only debt is whatever is currently on our credit cards, which gets paid off each month. Below are our numbers, dating back to when we first joined the last thread. Initially it was my own journey, but at this stage in my marriage it made sense to report the joint numbers which I had already been tracking.

                  Solo NW      Joint NW
4/30/2020 -       101,897        203,198
5/31/2020 -       109,544        218,023
6/30/2020 -       114,288        227,585
7/31/2020 -       117,338        236,196
8/31/2020 -       128,213        251,254
9/30/2020 -       125,543        246,779
10/31/2020 -     130,200        251,727
11/30/2020 -     141,260        266,097
12/31/2020 -     147,153        271,221
1/31/2020 -       155,099       282,090
2/28/2020 -       163,308       285,823
3/31/2020 -       183,745       319,533
4/30/2021 -    186,824      320,220

Meh month. Spending needs to be reined in, its definitely gotten out of hand.

Welcome @Psyche @Bayou Dweller @35andFI @bloodaxe @clynn @LurkerStache @ASW @afah0447

Congrats @Mrs. D. @PassMMM  @Morning Glory (hope your NW sticks) @tjrssibelle

And there are a good number of people about to graduate...woo hoo!!!

everything from here is lifestyle inflation for luxuries like healthcare

lol (sob)

Sometimes I wonder, what number will I really feel excited to celebrate? Or will I always be chasing the bigger number?

What's really exciting is when the exact numbers no longer matter.

@ontheheel my sympathies on your loss and also the mess with the estate.

@Steeze you won't be with us much longer...thrilling!

Another happy month!

And it looks like I may reach 500k earlier than my prediction. If current market trends continue I might even hit it before the end of the year.

Jan 2020: $203245
Jan 2021: $315465

If all goes well, I might hit $500k by Jan 2023?

Checking in. Markets have been wild. I negotiated for a raise in February.
May 2021: $373997

Happy Birthday to me!

Been a while since I posted.

Oct 2017 : $251K

I should be able to cross the line by time of my 41st bday in May.

Hopefully it doesn’t take another 4 years to double again.

Mid month update - promo bonus and a raise hitting this coming Friday, which should make things hopefully move a little quicker. Also realized that an account was missed /not previously included in our totals (with another ~$9,000 in it), all of which feels like it has barely moved the needle thanks to the market gyrations:

1/01/21 - $400,149
2/14/21 - $427,486 (+$27,337)
3/01/21 - $443,490 (+$43,341)
3/19/21 - $451,670 (+$51,521)
3/31/21 - $458,005 (+$57,856)
4/15/21 - $470,187 (+$70,038)
4/30/21 - $475,833 (+$75,684)
5/15/21 - $486,446 (+$86,297)

Projected out, need to do $13,354 by October ($3,012 per month) to hit the initial goal - but still really hoping to graduate sometime in June.

Also want to join!

Investments/Cash Only:
05/23 - $413k

Hope to hit $500k sometime next summer or fall. May take a bit longer as I will be going back to school and will pay tuition out of pocket for about $12k.

"A rising tide lifts all ships." It was a pretty awesome feeling to surpass the $400k in investments but the feeling only last for a day or two then it was right back to reality. Sometimes I wonder, what number will I really feel excited to celebrate? Or will I always be chasing the bigger number?

May 21      $417
Gonna take the family to Tokyo Disney for the weekend. In the past, vacations never felt so grand as I'd be constantly thinking about how the experience would hurt our finances. This time around it'll be much different, at least for me. I'm going to enjoy this time with them as much as possible knowing that our finances are finally in order. Our money is working for us. I'm looking forward to celebrating through my children's smiles and laughter and building memories with them.

You all inspire me to do more with my finances. Keep up the great work everybody!!

If I look at cash and securities only (not counting rental equity or primary residence equity) I belong on this thread

1/2016  $137K
1/2017  $154K
9/2017  $244K  (cash out refinance of primary residence)
3/2018   $208K  includes 0% credit card debt.
6/2018  $213K    ditto but without 0% CC balance and including pension balance, $328K.
12/2018   $250K   ditto but without 0% CC balance and including pension balance, $353K
12/2019  $328K  but without 0% CC balance and including pension balance, $425K
6/2020  $343K, but without 0% CC balance and including pension balance. $448K

cash out refi for one of our rentals

12/2020  $428K but without 0% CC balance and including pension balance. $530K  yay!  even with 0% CC balance we're over $500K!

Projection to be fully over $500K in liquid investments in early 2022, perhaps sooner.

Well, sooner it is! Fully over $500K for the first time in Feb 2021!
All because of a single stock in my Roth IRA that's been going nuts. It's PACB Pacific Biosciences has given me over 10X return in the past year. I'm one of their happy customers.

2/10/21  $502K  including 0%CC balance, which should be paid off this year. After that and including pension balance, $606K

Tentatively graduating from this thread. Might be back, but wa-hoo!!

Back already,

2/28/21  $487K

should only be another month or two until over 500K sticks.

Indeed, went back above and again back below. But taking us back below, we paid for a new roof and a paint job for one of our rental properties.  Now the cash-out from the refi is spent.

5/28/21 $496K

I'm guessing about two more months here until we'll truly advance to the next level?
We have plans for a big paydown of the 0% CC debt in the fall, so we'll certainly have a good cushion to be over 500K liquid by then.

Graduated! Just waiting for my son to go to sleep so I can run the numbers and make it official!!

Edit:

MPP - wife fell asleep and I can’t get into her 401k to check the balances, thus postponing my graduation from 500k race. Spreadsheet remains partially updated.

06/2020: 225K
07/2020: 236k
08/2020: 252k
09/2020: 264k
10/2020: 262k
11/2020: 271k

03/2021: 328k
04/2021: 338k
05/2021: 354k

Just some footnotes, this is the month in which we tipped over half a million in assets between our retirement accounts, investments, cash, and home value. My retirement alone is also now roughly the same value as our house.

I've missed a few months updating. This year continues to be on the ridiculous side - I've almost hit my low-end goal for the year already in terms of net worth increase, and I'm about 60% of the way there on savings added to the 'stash. Can't help but think this is gonna backslide at some point, but that doesn't really change the plan

Somehow, when I wasn't looking, we hit 401K in liquid assets. That was March. This morning, it's at $440,000. I'm off contract for the summer, getting some part-time pay, but not my regular salary or benefits, so I'm predicting October for graduation.
