First number is retirement savings & other long term investments, second is total NW including cash emergency savings and real estate equity. I'm focused on retirement only for this challenge rather than total NW.

September 2019: $261,238 (total NW $387,863)
October 2019: $260,934 (total NW $381,797)
November 2019: $280,569 (total NW $405,660)
December 2019: $292,062 (total NW $423, 991)
January 2020: $299,351 (total NW $430,390)
February 2020: $281,810 (total NW $412,616) ouch!
March 2020: $249,818 (total NW $390,340) double ouch!
April 2020: $273,408 (total NW $426,464)
May 2020: $300,289 (total NW $453,672)
June 2020: $313,013 (total NW $456,056)
July 2020: $330,819 (total NW $473,215)
August 2020 $351,475 (total NW $498,660)

SEPTEMBER UPDATE

08/01/20: $253,789
09/01/20: $257,810
10/01/20: $256,193

This summer has felt like a grind trying to save money. Fortunately I am coming into the busy season at work, so hoping to see some nice progress for the remainder of the year.

Greetings all, looks like I will be hanging out here for a while since I survived last month's dip in the market and finished above 250k!

10/1/20 NW: $250,496

Going to go ahead and set my stretch graduation goal date here as 12/31/2022. That will be just about an average increase of $125k/year. I was able to do better than $75k/year going from 100k - 250k NW. Bonus - getting married next August and should add an immediate 50-75k to the joint NW. That along with the fiance's contributions will certainly help reach that.

Thanks achv! Good to be here :)

We're living with family right now - we paid to break our NYC lease in August when it became clear we weren't going back to the office for a year or more - which probably saves us $30k/yr between rent, NYC income tax, and misc household costs. But even before that we were almost on track to live off my wife's salary and save my whole (higher) salary and bonus after tax.

We hit our all-time this month even with market tanking this week. $450K is still a very real goal for end of 2020 with potential graduation from this thread come spring/summer 2021. We already have money allocated toward funding our Roth IRAs come January, so I like feeling ahead of the game there.

Down $3,134 to $442,927. Three paycheck month wasn't enough to override the whims of the market.

Nov. 2017: $108496.07
Nov. 2018: $165575.77
Nov. 2019: $235584.90
Nov. 2020: $311056.94

We've been cooking right along for the past four years. It'll probably be another year and a half to two years to reach 500k. We'll get a boost in investments once my student loans are paid off, which will increase investments by about 25% each month.

If my own experience plays out for you, I predict a much greater than 25% return to your psyche when those bad boys get paid off. :)

Oct. 31 2016 was the first time I totaled up our retirement numbers. We've gained $353,832 since then. We've ramped up savings each year, going from about $40,000 per year in 2017 to about $64,000 now (not including going from about $1000 per year in 2016 in one HSA to maxing out two individual HSAs). Hoping we can continue to increase savings in 2021, but to be honest at this point I'm just happy we are both employed and healthy!

I'm pleased! Before we started funneling it to retirement, we had been funneling money hardcore into student loan repayment. While I am happy we no longer have student loan debt, I wish we'd had focused a bit more on retirement earlier. Luckily we've always lived within our means after college, bought a reasonable (for us!) house in a nice if not flashy neighborhood. Bought dependable, long running, not expensive car... at least we made some good choices along the way (all the student loans not withstanding).

Despite being a 3-check month, the market dipped so much we didn’t increase our investment totals. The rise in NW here is based on an updated home value. Prices have gotten so high in this area recently.

(IRA/401K/taxable accounts/conservative equity in rental properties/conservative equity in side business):
2/1/2020 $333,916.40
3/1/2020 $386,416.81 (put cash into new rental property)
4/1/2020 $386,032.10
5/1/2020 $404,443.66
6/1/2020 $450,581.83 ($30k of the bump is from an increase in rental property equity based on refinance appraisal)
7/1/2020 $455,164.98
8/1/2020 $465,701.07
9/1/2020 $480,888.70
10/1/2020 $483,691.22 (closed on first business - closing costs ate into some of the monthly gains).  Barring anything major, I hope to graduate by EOY.
11/1/2020 $506,667.23 (found a chunk of cash that I did not realize was being withheld from my paycheck for a retirement account contribution that gets made at the end of the year.  Because it is my money, I am including it and retiring from this race today - might see you back here next month depending on how the market reacts to the election).  Good luck all!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
