We have had a string of months with really high unexpected/emergency expenses (funeral, family issues) so we haven't saved anything outside of normal 401K/HSA contributions.  Looking forward to putting the emotional and financial turmoil behind us.

Smooth sailing so far. I am a little excited. Apparently even numbers mean more to me than odd numbers, and seeing a number cross 400k is fun, even if I need to count the house to get there. Third year anniversary of NW tracking!

Up $4,329 to $363,509. Up $85,723 yoy. Higher expenses, no overtime. Steady progress though. The bigger news however, is that I was approved to go PT, starting this pay period. Yes! I'll be working a 5 days on/9 off schedule. I'll continue to invest, but at a much lower rate of course. Will probably be tarnishing this thread for quite some time. :)

Congrats! That sounds like a great schedule :)

Investments only, sans home equity:

01/1/18 $244K
04/1/18 $259K
07/1/18 $282K
10/1/18 $314K

01/1/19 $289K - this was all market drop; savings were normal during this time
04/1/19 $351K
07/1/19 $380K
10/1/19 $384K - pulled a chunk out of our HSA to pay for childbirth costs incurred earlier in the year; also started daycare; husband took 2 months unpaid paternity leave... savings rate currently in the toilet

Does not include roughly $30K in cash.

Anticipated graduation: early 2021

I'm including home equity, but go with my personal NW (50% of the house, 50% of the mortgage). I've just paid off debt so I'm really at the start of investing in liquid assets (behold my puny liquid stache).

end-2018: circa £287,177
Mar-2019: £313,570
Apr-2019: £322,726
May-2019: £330,583
Jun-2019: £339,992
Jul-2019: £349,062
Aug-2019: £354,036
Sep-2019: £362,238
Oct-2019: £370,063 (so far)

This breaks down into:
50% of the mortgage: -£45,650
50% of home equity: £232,079
Personal pension: c£178,000
Gilts: £250
Vanguard: £500
ISA: £4,587.85
Savings account: £296.30

(not counting cash in debit account because I still have costs going out before the month is over - but I'm hoping to put another £500 into Vanguard.)

Would love to hit £375k before the year is up.

PT sounds wonderful. All the best!

Thanks guys! Last week was my first week mostly off. I took my blood pressure....96/73. Lower than I can ever remember. :)

September 1:  343,890
September 21:  352,721.  I should be able to save more than this.
October 25:  ~$421,000.  This will go down a bit this month due to need to pay husband's rent/set him up in apartment.  But next month is another month.  I need to WORK HARDER ON NOT SPENDING to minimize the 2nd-rent hit.

Crossed the $500k mark Saturday. Felt like a pretty surreal weekend. We’ll see if the market holds out through Friday as to whether or not I can join the next club in November!

Get out of here, with your fancy money and your fancy accounts and whatnot! The rest of us here will keep working in the coal mines and stuffing pennies behind the baseboards.

I actually had a decent month but decided to subtract out the cost of selling the house moving forward. I also refinanced my mortgage, which I think will end up being a net negative, and bought a car.

We made it, and by a pretty substantial amount. Unless we get a >2% drop in November, we'll hopefully be permanently vacating this thread.

Good luck everyone! It goes fast.

I mean, you do you, but why would you come back to this thread if you dipped below $500k? You did it. You achieved $500k. Whether you drop back down to $490k or $400k or whatever, the next milestone (based on these threads) is $1000k. Don't look back man.

Yeah, I agree. Onward and upward, even if there's a temporary setback in the market. Otherwise, we could have scenarios where folks on the cusp of both threads (this one and the $500K-$1M thread) could bounce back and forth for months, or even years. That seems against the spirit of the exercise.

Now if someone has a permanent reduction in net worth (like in a divorce), then yes I could see going back down.

I'm not him, but I'm guessing debts. That's why I measure NW instead of stache; I think it gives a more complete picture.

Yeah – it’s the nature of the settlement I did with my ex. I kept the mortgage on the house we had in order that my ex and the kids had a place to live. She kept the house so that mortgage is not offset against the equity in my figures . In turn I kept most of the retirement funds. I have another 3 years to clear the mortgage so it will revert to something looking more “normal” by then. I have a lot of assets and a lot of debt. As the by far higher earner it made more sense. It also kept the alimony to a sensible figure rather than sell the house, pay off the debt and then have her need far more per month in order to afford somewhere to live.

Large medical bill this month but we still haven't hit our deductible 🙄.

I am almost at $300k invested in liquid assets! Barring a market issue, I should crest over my goal of $400k by the end of the year, and then HALF A MILLION DOLL-HAIRS in 2020.
