I'll join! I'm focusing on retirement related investments only and this doesn't include my home or other assets:

January 2015: $98,619
February 2015: $102,414
March 2015: $104,001
April 2015: $106,458
May 2015: $106,866
June 2015: $107,133
July 2015: $107,090
August 2015: $102,260

(Overall NW = $178,748)

Haven't made too much movement with the way the market has been lately and with me scaling back contributions temporarily due to some unexpected expenses.  I'll increase contributions again by the end of October.

September 2015: $103,731

I'll join in too! I'll just count our personal investments, which are now at 207k. We first reached 100k in early 2011, but have had two babies with long parental leaves and one sabbatical leave since then, so investing wasn't a top priority until I discovered MMM a few months ago. Am hoping to reach 250 k near the end of 2016.

This post is an inspiration! You all rock!

We have made some fun gains in the past four years. Started with -$163,000 in 2011. We are now at:

Aug 2015: $133,000.
I changed up my house value on Mint to make this more accurate. For some reason, the Zestimate value of my house swings wildly, sometimes as much a $15k/wk. So, I put in a solid value of what it is realistically worth. After redoing my entryway, I plan to have it appraised so as to get rid of PMI (gross, I know). If the value changes, I'll note it here.

Sept 30, 2015: $147,097

As a note, no I did not add $14,000 in one month, the change in value reflects the correction for my house value.

I thought I'd add my net worth growth from the 1st of each month for the last 2.25 years.

Jun-13    $1,947.44
Jul-13    $3,733.52
Aug-13    $6,321.60
Sep-13    $8,983.74
Oct-13    $11,676.68
Nov-13    $14,305.93
Dec-13    $16,872.05
Jan-14    $19,701.18
Feb-14    $22,927.07
Mar-14    $25,475.76
Apr-14    $28,150.42
May-14    $31,147.07
Jun-14    $56,969.80
Jul-14    $67,896.24
Aug-14    $70,438.74
Sep-14    $72,584.03
Oct-14    $85,867.88
Nov-14    $89,257.31
Dec-14    $91,670.84
Jan-15    $95,212.55
Feb-15    $99,718.31
Mar-15    $102,037.35
Apr-15    $105,106.52
May-15    $107,645.84
Jun-15    $113,805.38
Jul-15    $125,572.50
Aug-15    $134,237.63
Sep-15    $136,280.99
Oct 28, 2015: $153,200

About to drop $20k on house improvements... so this is going to drop then stagnate some here for the winter.

Headwinds is right! Damn!
I was close in the spring and fell back nearly $20K despite record SR%... stash is recovering now and just holding steady on SR should hit $250K by year's end. Any upward move in the market would be icing on the cake.

3/15 $238,399
6/15 $238,882
9/15 $222,175
12/15 $258,213 projected

By year's end? Wow! You're moving fast despite the headwinds. We are at $225k now, but won't be at $250k until sometime next year. Earlier than my initial prediction of the end of 2016 I suspect, unless the market takes a dive.

I have tailwinds too: tenants paying down rental mortgages for me, and DW covering our own house payment to free up my income to invest.

Sep was a low point; as of today, I'm around 240k via share rebounds and increasing SR in Stocktober. Five more paychecks and two more sets of rent checks should just do it. Market gains would pad the margin, losses would delay it, but either way - we'll get there.

Investable up to $138k thanks to high savings rate and high commission =D

I'm getting excited for this weekend, I'm already up 10k this month, and I still have 1 paycheck coming in on Friday.  If the house does another leap like it has been, and the stock market plays nice, I might clear up to 12k this month.  It boggles my mind when I look at how much we are saving.  Houses have hit the market in our neighborhood now at 300k and 309k, hoping they sell, currently the house is pegged at a Zestimate of 266k, but I'm sure if we decided to sell it would be going for more like the 300k figure.  Recently Zillow changed our forecasted change in value to just over 4% for the next year, down from the previous 10.7%, though I have a feeling they'll be wrong as even a modest 1% over the time period from when the house first sold until now would get it to 320k, which is where I expect it to reach before cooling down, but I may be biased.

We accidentally made a principal payment on our house this month as our PMI got cancelled after we had sent in the check, so they just applied it to principal.  Won't change our  maturity date I'm sure, and I'm really happy to have gone from over $200+ in MIP, to $27.80 in PMI after refinance, to not paying the bank to insure our loan.

Will post October this weekend.

I'll be busy this weekend, so October numbers are in as of today.

Oct $117,581, $8,021 increase.

I'm sitting here scratching my head.  Where the heck did I get $8 grand to stash away.
There is a small possibility that my September numbers were a little off and should be just a bit higher.  Not a big deal in a grand scheme of things.

Zestimates are crap. I've seen them off by as much as 100% in transitional neighborhoods.

List prices are interesting but still don't establish value; selling prices can be useful, as long as you have enough internal details on each property to adjust the value of your own for the differences, but are still just part of the picture.

If you're serious about selling soon, ask a local agent for comparative market analysis (or whatever their local version is called). A good one will give you almost as much information as a paid appraisal, and it should be available for free. For a more cursory look, have them pull you an active/sold report for your neighborhood. None of this requires any payment, commitment, or agency agreement.

I think zillow is far more accurate in big cities - especially on the west coast.  But my experience down south has been the same as Zephyr's.  Off by as much as 100%.  For instance, my neighbor's house recently sold for $250k.  Zillow still shows it at $130k & the recent sale is even listed on their site.

I've been watching an investment property in the area where I'd like to FIRE for about a year... two craptastic trailers on about an acre, right next to a runway. It was a stretch at $70K, even fully rented, and the high cap rate reflects its low potential for any kind of improvement. The last time it was sold, or delisted, the Zestimate went to $150K or some silly shit. I laughed.

It's nice to be able to talk freely and openly about money.  It motivates me to see other people heading in the same direction!

Age : 27 (both gf and I)
NW : 125k

We pretty much had 0-5k at the beggining of 2013.  I calculated that our NW will grow by about 80k this year which is pretty crazy!  Salaries are decent/good (150k family income).

2015 :

+19.5k home equity (3 appartments building-525k mortgage with 2.05% interest)
+13k (pension plan and stocks)
+16.4k RRSP (will add 8k by year's end)
+23.5k TFSA
-doesn't include potential price increase of the rental property
-------
total : 80.4k

May 2015:  $100,323.89
June 2015: $106,433.29
July 2015: $114,450.69
August 2015: $118,018.27
September 2015: $121,664.35
October 2015: $132,652.87

Just $12 short of $11k.  Really love these 5 paycheck months.

It's nice to be able to talk freely and openly about money.  It motivates me to see other people heading in the same direction!

Yeah, I really like this forum too.  People at work don't talk much about finances, or financial planning, and don't get excited about retiring while young.  It really is inspirational to see the progress everyone is making here.

IRA is up a few grand today... scheduled contributions alone should get me there in 2016.

I've more or less locked in a real estate deal that should close in December, which would just be icing on the cake... roughly $2K after broker's cut.

Congratz on the progress!

So true.  I believe they don't get excited because they think it's impossible.  There's no way...you can't...how could you...but you'll eat ramen soups all day long and stare at a wall all day?  I guess it's a normal reaction when you live paycheck by paycheck.

MMM said that people overestimate the amount they need.  A friend of the family (women in her fifties, healthy, husband, house and 1 child) said that she would need 3 Millions to retire...I was a bit blown away by the amount.

My wife recently read an article from a financial adviser in Taiwan who suggested that at minimum people would need $600,000 USD, on top of housing, in order to retire.  Just over a month ago I saw an article showing that the average COL in Taiwan is $607 USD (including housing).  I guess he must be going off parking all your money in a low interest bearing account with only about a 1.2% yield.  Or in other words, people could retire with about $150k-300k, about a quarter to half the amount that the financial advisers are saying is required.  This in a country with universal health care and where craigslist is basically non-existent because a large amount of the people take the first two R's to heart before Recycling.

I'm in on the dash from $100to $250k if you guys don't mind...   Specifically gotta rebuild my after-tax stache after putting a chunk of the Market earnings towards the mortgage payoff club.   Starting at $101K as of early Nov.  Going to be a challenge to fund both clubs.   Been working hard to kill debt and free up cash flow as College bills for oldest start next August.

Way to go BBUB! I hope to meet you at 250>500K soon!

Great trends overall, and I'd like to mention that MMM is right! It's all about the savings rate, and the market is just the bonus. This is especially true early on in the process (1st 3-7 years), where compound interest hasn't really had a chance to get snowballing yet.

Thanks Justgettingstarted!  For sure.  My accounts all range from slightly negative to slightly positive performance over the time frame from 100-250k.  The negative returns are from some oil stocks I bought late last year (I'm so smart).  All in all, returns have had little to no impact.  Assuming a small stash and a quick time frame, growth is nearly all about the savings rate.

Dang I haven't posted an update in several months.  Well the last couple months were rough but then it was made up for in the month of October.

Jan 2015:                $113,226
Feb 2015:                $120,796
March 2015:            $125,852
April 2015:              $134,096
May 2015:               $147,916
June 2015:              $151,413
July 2015:               $159,678
August 2015:          $152,854
September 2015:    $157,447
October 2015:         $171,938

November should be a good month due to an expected several thousand in bonuses and December will be highly inflated because that's when I will re-adjust our home value in Personal Capital (15k increase).

I haven't posted in awhile due to a series of unfortunate events. My net worth has taken quite the hit and I expect that to continue for the next six months at least. Hoping to stay above $100k and keep working in the process!

July: $121,874
August: $106, 173
September: $109,316
October: $115,231

Joining this challange. I'm a single guy, 26, making about 50k counting rental income. I'm counting equity in my house and rental as well as other liquid accounts but not my car.

Nov 15 ~ $131,000

Net worth July 31, 2015:     $103347.17
Net worth November 2015:  $121644.56

We lost a fair chunk in the market, but we're still moving in the right direction and I just paid off some sucka consumer debt.

I will join but I just recently starting keeping track of my total net worth.

November 2015- $197,000

This is including the equity in my house.

I bring home an average pay  of about $59,000/ year. I am behind some on this site but I am trying to catch up and think this challenge will be helpful!

I love this thread!  Awesome job everyone!
I'm joining in.  This is my entire NW, aprox $13.5K student loan, no mortgage (renter), no other debt.  These include IRAs, 401k, HSA, and cash.

2015 - started tracking in June on the last day of the month, so June 30th, July 31, etc.
June $105,555
July  $111,700, $6,145 increase
Aug  $112,494, $793 increase
Sept $109,536, $2,958 decrease

Will post October this weekend.

I'll be busy this weekend, so October numbers are in as of today.

Oct $117,581, $8,021 increase.

I'm sitting here scratching my head.  Where the heck did I get $8 grand to stash away.
There is a small possibility that my September numbers were a little off and should be just a bit higher.  Not a big deal in a grand scheme of things.

Nov $121,142, $3,855 increase

Numbers are now in:
May 2015:  $100,323.89
June 2015: $106,433.29
July 2015: $114,450.69
August 2015: $118,018.27
September 2015: $121,664.35
October 2015: $132,652.87
November 2015: $138,272.53

Increase of $5,619.66.  Stocks fell a bit today or else we may have gotten a bit higher this month, but that just means that Wall St. is participating in Cyber Monday sales :-D.  I didn't buy anything for Black Friday, so I'll just take this deal instead.

Personal investments only:

Jul 2015   196,553
Aug 2015  192,205
Sep 2015 188,724
Oct 2015  207,028
Nov 2015 240,500

Whoa I didn't think we'd get that close this year! Makes me want to push to get to 250k before the new year! This does include 7500 in RESP's for our kids. And it will drop by about 3.4 k in deferred sales charges as I am in the process of moving our investments from Edward Jones to Questrade.
