Thanks @Stubblestache & @JAYSLOL !

I am very pleased to be here and will start plugging away. I'm on a low-buy year (so am saving more than normal) but still will likely be here for quite a while so I'll settle myself in :)

What a fun thread idea! It's enjoyable for me to see others' progress, great or small. It's like a mutual cheerleading squad.

I have money squirrelled away in several places, and I don't really keep a running tally ('til now!), so I'll just show the progress from the last month and maintain from there. The numbers (and my case study) will show I'm obviously very late to the retirement savings game.

31-Mar-2023: $146,850

Started reading MMM in Dec19, been coming along nicely.

We've got a big move coming up to one of the most expensive locations to live in the world.. but it comes with a pay bump that should cover for the increase in living cost and over time reduce our tax burden. If all goes well I'll be hitting 220k this year, but as I am holding a lot of cash in JPY right now FX is being a big pain in the butt (hence the drop in March just now which is all FX loss :')).

|          | 2020     | 2021     | 2022     | 2023     |

| January  | $35,800  | $72,268  | $113,961 | $168,896 |
| February | $37,608  | $73,771  | $120,440 | $189,374 |
| March    | $41,735  | $80,126  | $118,341 | $176,853 |
| April    | $41,673  | $81,821  | $125,182 | $149,615 |
| May      | $45,178  | $87,008  | $115,157 | $158,254 |
| June     | $51,127  | $89,574  | $114,029 |          |
| July     | $53,320  | $92,983  | $104,767 |          |
| August   | $56,781  | $95,877  | $115,084 |          |
| September| $61,376  | $101,957 | $163,661 |          |
| October  | $61,503  | $98,956  | $155,795 |          |
| November | $60,956  | $106,875 | $159,137 |          |
| December | $66,804  | $112,890 | $167,896 |          |

Updated my numbers for April and May post the move which was expensive. Expecting another 22k or so to be returned so our net moving cost is slightly positive. Now all we need to do next is finding ways to reduce expenses here and max savings.

Technically, my savings rate was -100% this month. I bought a car using an account I see as part of my net worth. At the same time I don't add my car to the net worth.

I'm new to this thread; first time in my life I’m in the 100K club! I just broke $100k.  Should take me about 5 years to get to $250k.
This is my net worth which also includes my house along with about $14k of personal property assets.

5/1/2023 $104,000

Congrats on hitting $100k, welcome to the club!!  I’m at around $200k now, but I’ve been here for a bunch of years so by the time I graduate, I’ll have been here around 5 years also.

I left this thread when my net worth exceeded $250k.  I have about $100k in home equity and an expensive paid for car.  Neither of those contribute to my FI goal, so I've decided only to track my stache and not my net worth in regards to these goal threads.

So here I am:
Net Worth:
01/2020:     $30,773
01/2021:     $82,262
01/2022:     $161,480
10/2022:   $236,098
11/2022:   $251,665
12/2022:   $278,442
03/2023:   $297,693

Stache only:
04/2023:  $204,532
05/2023:  $212,593

$250k goal: August 2023.

I haven't ever participated in this, but we are starting to track our NW a bit more.

7/1/2022   $104,281.96
8/1/2022   $130,183.28
9/1/2022   $127,931.79
10/1/2022   $128,898.99
11/1/2022   MISSED
12/1/2022   $141,418.82
1/1/2023   $121,714.98
2/1/2023   $142,417.22
3/1/2023   $134,691.79
4/1/2023   $142,945.07
5/1/2023   $149,890.62

This includes choosing to pay cash to replace a car in January 2023. With no impending large purchases and coasting with our automatic investments at this point, we should add ~$7,500 to our NW per month for the next year. We have a small amount of student loans and a 0% car payment that will both disappear within a year. After that, we will be adding ~$10k each month to our NW.

I'm new to this thread; first time in my life I’m in the 100K club! I just broke $100k.  Should take me about 5 years to get to $250k.
This is my net worth which also includes my house along with about $14k of personal property assets.

5/1/2023 $104,000

Congratulations!  They say the first 100k is the hardest!

I left this thread when my net worth exceeded $250k.  I have about $100k in home equity and an expensive paid for car.  Neither of those contribute to my FI goal, so I've decided only to track my stache and not my net worth in regards to these goal threads.

So here I am:
Net Worth:
01/2020:     $30,773
01/2021:     $82,262
01/2022:     $161,480
10/2022:   $236,098
11/2022:   $251,665
12/2022:   $278,442
03/2023:   $297,693

Stache only:
04/2023:  $204,532
05/2023:  $212,593

$250k goal: August 2023.

I came back to this thread a couple months ago.  Moving on a bit quicker than expected.
Stache:
06/15/2023: $256,339

Good luck all, hope to see you in the 250-500 thread soon!

05/01/23: $21,456
06/01/23: $21,456
07/01/23: $21,456 (currently at 0% interest)

Net Worth:

03/04/19: -$30,065 (Started tracking NW)
09/01/20: $13,497 (NW after purchase of first home)
09/02/21: $57,319 ($43,822)

06/01/23: $112,849 ($1,769)
07/01/23: $126,069 ($13,220)

This was my single best month to date! I went back through my spreadsheet and found my previous highest single month gain to be 10.6K. I was helped in part by the markets, 3 paycheck month, and very low spending in June. I hope to keep up the progress through the next several months, though it is very unlikely that I will top this month!

Wow. In April, I thought hitting $250k by the end of the year was a stretch goal. Now it seems we might hit that early?! Anyway, this is due to DH getting a new job and contributing to retirement plans (none at previous job), and market gains. Keep up the excellent work everyone!

In other news, my current networth spreadsheet needs a total overhaul... About a quarter of the categories need to be redefined and clustered differently - and I'm not sure how I'm going to track the owner financing...
