Due to rocky nature of my savings so far this year, I cut back 100% of my discretionary spending and had little in grocery bills as I started eating what I had in the pantry and freezer. I also upped my side-hustle game and made around $1000 this month from my various side gigs.

I've loosened the purse strings a little this weekend but hope to continue with frugalness throughout June to get me to the summer. Don't really feel like spending my two month vacations staying at home being super frugal so the plan is to give myself some budget room though these two months of frugalness.

Markets still volatile. Last week helped me from reporting $0 gain this month despite my frugalness. Hopefully things get better soon. The current market situation has derailed my plans to buy a condo or house.

Goal of reaching $250,000 net worth by the summer has certainly been derailed. New projected date is December 31st or early in the new year.

Seems being so in the market continues to take us in the wrong direction.  Going to need to get back on track with our saving and tracking plans.

Back to work and adjusting to working parent lives. We've both dropped hours, I got an extra cost of living pay rise though, we have childcare fees and everything is getting more expensive including our remortgage - so let's see how this pans out! Before during market dips we've had cash to throw in so never actually taken a step back like this - I'm ok with it though!

Well this school year didn't result in me getting much further ahead financially :( My investments have taken a beating. On the plus side, I've been quite frugal over the past two months and have grown the cash portion of my portfolio which I'll need for a downpayment on a house in the next 2 years (was hoping my investments would allow me to do this sooner, but that's not happening).

For context: I'm 33 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93 (1 year tracking)
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to the 100-250k thread)
3/20: $118,287.76 (2 years tracking)
3/21: $206,593.43 (3 years tracking)
11/21: $254,300,88 (graduated to the 250-500k thread)
12/21: $258,452.24 (+$4,151.36, +1.63%)
1/22: $266,408.54 (+$7,956.30, +3.08%)
2/22: $249,470.14 (-$16,938.40, -6.36%)
3/22: $251,915.95 (+$2,445.81, +0.98%)
4/22: $258,017.81 (+$6,101.86, +2.42%)
5/22: $241,209.30 (-$16,808.51, -6.51%)
6/22: $241,739.39 (+$530.09, +0.22%)
7/22: $225,680.23 (-$16,059.16, -6.64%)

I've been saving and spending as much as always, but I'm basically 100% stocks so the market has really been hurting my net worth. I kept posting in the 250 to 500k thread in the hopes that the dip would be short lived, but I think I've got to admit I'm back under 250k for the time being. At this point, it would take a pretty big rebound for me to get back over the threshold.

Had to get out of an AltCoin, maybe at the worst moment, or maybe before it falls to 0... Could not risk losing all --> I was overexposed.
Next month will be interesting. I might fall below the NetWorth from a year ago...

Graduated from the race to 10k thread! Current net worth is at $117,479. I have such a long, long way to go and so much debt to payoff, but at least I’m positive now.

Spent about $12,000 creating a second bathroom in the house and took off time from work to do it.  I have also heard the stock market lost value.  I expect this will go down before it goes back up since I still have some savings to spend.

Graduated from race to 100k. So might as well start tracking.

January 2019 81.8k
February 2019 93.2k
March 2019 98.3k
April 2019 108.3k
May 2019 111.9k
June 2019 108.4k
July 2019 117k

Not sure what a realistic timeframe to 250k would be. Hopefully within Jan 2021.

Welp, back for my annual checkup as I remember that this exists.
Odd not keeping track on a monthly basis. Everything is so automatic at this point.

July 2020 $189.5k

Still hoping that the market moves me to 250k by Jan of next year. Wishful thinking.

Back after 2 years of absence. Skipped 2021.
Not exactly sure when I passed the 250k mark.

Currently at $372,000 2022YTD. Purchasing a home at the right time helped. Guess I'm graduating onto the next one!

Feb 1st - $160,600 (-$1700)
Mar 1st - $161,100 (+$500)
Apr 1st - $163,800 (+$2700)
May 1st - $160,400 (-$3400)
June 1st - $165,300 (+$4900)
July 1st - $159,100  (-$6100)
Aug 1st - $166,900  (+$7800)

Also updating my numbers a little early.  Darn recovery, I was really starting to enjoy the 20+% discount.  I scrapped a nw goal for this year in favour of a savings goal.  The problem with a nw goal is that when the market is way up I slack off because I’m already ahead, and when the market isn’t doing well it’s not super motivating to see myself literally moving backwards.  Savings goal this year is keeping me better motivated than I’ve ever been

Good month thanks to the market! And the numbers don't tell the full story. I had to erase a ~$3000 entry in my networth due to a reporting error. So I'm actually up more than $12,000 compared to last month..... but I was deeper in the whole in previous months, just didn't realize it :P The error has been in my numbers for a while, so I'm actually at the highest point in terms of my historical net worth.

Market changes seem to be working in our favor.  We started working on a remodel so all extra funds are going towards cash flowing those expenses.  Hopefully, we can get this positive growth going while fixing up our forever home.

I include money that is invested for retirement accounts , but not value of savings for specific items (car insurance for the year etc.) or checking accounts as it is money I will likely use this month. I am hoping to hit 150k by Jun 2022.

Net worth:

Jul2022: $116,505.83 : Bought a house and changed jobs so I've been a little busy since I have updated. I think the most of the networth decrease is from buying the house (not yet included in net worth) but I am sure the stock market being down hasn't helped.

It's been awhile since I've checked in. Now that I can finally stand to look at my accounts, I figured I'd update my numbers. Seems that I've been close to graduating the thread all year, but we'll see what the markets bring in the next few months. I'm about to start a new job and will get a nice payout for my unused PTO from my current position that should push me over.

At least we're moving in the right direction again.  I keep reminding myself that wealth is built during bear markets, but it's not nearly as much fun to watch balances go down each month.  Especially when I was so close to graduating out of this thread.

Hello! After a few years of playing around in the 10-100k race, I am finally moving up to this one. Originally counted 401K balance, then added my ROTH numbers when I began investing in Vanguard. Now that I've purchased my first I-Bonds, I figure it should go in my total investments as well. Still feels odd, breaking into 6 digits. Hopefully I get more comfortable with it over the next few years.

I'm going to make a prediction/goal of 250k by the end of 2025. Seems like a stretch at the moment, but... I'm up for a challenge!

Welcome!  That’s an impressive run from $15k - $100k in just 2.5 years, I think you underestimate how fast you are going to smash this next milestone with that kind of momentum.  The next $150k is usually goes faster than the first $100k from what I’ve heard.

130.726 €
+1.788 €
31,5% Savings Rate

Even though I had a total loss of 2k in an fringe-investment, I could end the month with a small plus.
I will increase my ETF investments from this month going forward.

For context: I'm 33 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93 (1 year tracking)
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to the 100-250k thread)
3/20: $118,287.76 (2 years tracking)
3/21: $206,593.43 (3 years tracking)
11/21: $254,300.88 (graduated to the 250-500k thread)
12/21: $258,452.24 (+$4,151.36, +1.63%)
1/22: $266,408.54 (+$7,956.30, +3.08%)
2/22: $249,470.14 (-$16,938.40, -6.36%)
3/22: $251,915.95 (+$2,445.81, +0.98%)
4/22: $258,017.81 (+$6,101.86, +2.42%)
5/22: $241,209.30 (-$16,808.51, -6.51%)
6/22: $241,739.39 (+$530.09, +0.22%)
7/22: $225,680.23 (-$16,059.16, -6.64%)
8/22: $246,154.19 (+$20,473.96, +9.07%)

And so the roller coaster continues...

Sitting around $170k… Curious to see how much higher or lower that will go… Housing seems to be going lower, so that may lower the number, but hoping the markets could rebound.  We shall see.

I am struggling to make progress, it seems my deposits get wiped out by the market.

If you are making deposits, then you making progress!  If the value of what you have stays the same or goes down a bit, but you own more shares, that’s still progress!  I still track net worth, but I switched from caring about a net worth goal to caring about a savings goal for this year, and it’s done wonders for my sense of progress in these up and down times.  I’m no longer trying to hit a certain amount in my accounts by the end of the year, but I am trying to hit a goal of an amount saved to accounts, it’s much easier to keep motivated that way.  Good luck!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
