Jan 1 2022 $117, 086
Feb 1 2022 $118,874

Savings rate has slowed way down since I purchased a house in late 2021. A few minor repairs, tools, investing in some money-saving upgrades that will pay out in the future but took away from the savings amount upfront. I'm just letting the money add up without worrying about graduating right now.

Not a great month in the markets, but did get some good contributions in with HSA especially. Wife is now maxing out her 401k, too.

Wow, your 2021 50% savings rate was great, 65% is crazy good, are you trying to keep it at that level?  I haven’t quite cracked 50% yet, I’m hoping to get really close this year though

Thanks! The goal for the year overall is ~55% or so, but stretch for 60-62%. January is likely to be a higher SR month because it's cheaper (no holidays or travel) and my SO and I have companies that contribute to our HSAs at the start of the year. I'm also lucky to have just gotten a promotion that kicked in at the start of the year.

50% will be a big accomplishment, I think you can do it!!

I hope so!  It would be a very big milestone for me.  If I crank up some side hustles I’ll be in better shape to do it.  In the past I’ve only tracked NW increase, but this year I’ve decided to track savings and savings rate more closely to encourage myself to save and invest a little harder

I include money that is invested for retirement accounts , but not value of savings for specific items (car insurance for the year etc.) or checking accounts as it is money I will likely use this month. I am hoping to hit 150k by Jun 2022.

33% Savings Rate

Finally I am not in the reds, at least after adding my savings... To speed up the road to FIRE, I took out a 30.000€ loan at 2.49% which will go mostly into crypto. It is risky, but worth the risk.

This was my projected graduation date, but didn't make it.  Ended up slightly ahead (but not yet back to Dec levels) due to a larger than normal cash influx this month.  But also had a bunch of vet bills and have a large annual insurance bill coming up.  All that to say next month isn't looking great either.  C'est la vie.  I'll get there when I get there.

I have been in a rut here lately. Not only have the markets not been good but I also have been spending way more than what I should. Really need to get back on track and move forward again.

Seems the markets are going to keep pushing me in the wrong direction.  Oh well, buying stocks for less than they were and it can't go down forever :)

I posted about two months ago in the $250k - $500k for my total NW including equity in my home and the current value of my pension. At the same time I posted in the $10k - $100k thread and was only tracking liquid assets instead of NW. These liquid assets include: my 403(b), DW 401(k), my rIRA, a couple of taxable brokerage accounts, and cash. I started actively tracking my NW and assets in late 2019 but the model and format that I have used has evolved quite a bit since then; for example, in 2019 I didn't differentiate between liquid assets and total assets so I don't have this information prior to July of last year. Due to an inheritance windfall I have graduated to this thread. I'm dealing with some guilt from inheriting money from my grandpa but I'm hoping that putting the money to work for my family and our future will help with that.

We ended up spending more money than planned in February, thanks to meeting a bunch of new friends in our (new) city. Maybe some of that was pent-up from the pandemic... and we are trying to be less miserly when it comes to getting drinks on occasion. There are benefits to socializing/making new connections...just need to be mindful of how much we spent.

Still invested around $7,500 this month...but of course the markets didn't do that well. Stocks were on sale, I guess :)

Sorry for your loss. I think you are doing the right thing with the inheritance. Investing inheritance, rather than doing something irresponsible, is a way of being a good steward of your grandfather's legacy. It may just so happen that your own investing could lead to passing wealth on to others one day.

Thank you, I put a small amount into a completely separate account that I plan to stay away from if possible. My intent for this account is to give it to my son (or split it with future children) when a certain age is reached, a sort of legacy from his great-grandfather.

Weeee, I'm back in the club again after a few months out. Feels good.

Needed this boost tbh. With soaring cost of living and all the bad things that are happening in the world at the moment, I've felt very despondent towards saving and investing.

It's forward progress so I'll take it.  The "expert" on Bloomberg radio this morning said that if you were only down 5% this quarter then you were doing okay.  That's about where my returns were this quarter with new contributions increasing my overall number.  I think that the last of my really big, needle-moving expenses are done for the year so that will help going forward.  Still hoping to graduate into the next group by the end of the year, but just taking it one month at a time right now.

I include money that is invested for retirement accounts , but not value of savings for specific items (car insurance for the year etc.) or checking accounts as it is money I will likely use this month. I am hoping to hit 150k by Jun 2022.

Net worth:
2018:                         2019                2020             2021              2022
Jan                          $27,100           $45,839         $89,090         $130,904
Feb                          $29,443           $43,345         $86,608         $131,274
Mar                         $31,603            $39,081         $98,860
Apr    $13,200          $33,959           $47,551         $106,604
May                         $33,933           $51,613         $107,294
Jun                          $37,928           $56,760         $111,827
Jul                           $39,736           $61,567         $116,999
Aug  $22,800           $39,918            $68,102        $122,191
Sep  $23,645           $34,179            $68,212        $121,891
Oct   $23,658           $38,091           $68,976         $130,532
Nov  $23,948           $39,867            $76,790        $133,720
Dec  $23,960           $43,836            $82,778        $139,448
Mar2022: $139,662.92 (+$8,388.53) Good month in the stock market, I quit my current job and have a couple weeks before I start my next job so I wouldn't expect more money addition from me in the next two months. Also looking for new housing so that could cause a decrease.

They say "The First $100000 Is The Most Difficult" and I can relate...gosh, I'm +50% around 6 months later. I know it makes sense because I receive a higher salary and so, but it does not take away the fact of how true this phrase became

10/2021 - $110,300.00

It appears that with some buckling down and relooking at the budget, our numbers are finally heading in the proper direction again.

2022
Jan 1st - $162,300
Feb 1st - $160,600 (-1700)
Mar 1st - $161,100 (+500)
Apr 1st - $163,800 (+$2700)

Hoping to hit $200k by the end of the year, but I’d settle for missing that target if markets remain lower all year so I can load up while it’s a bit cheaper

welcome to the thread - when I graduated with a 5k buffer just before the new year, I was immediately dropped below 100k for the next few months! Here's hoping it works out better for you :D

And congratulations on soon becoming a parent! I'm not long a parent myself. Finances certainly take a hit, but it is absolutely worth it.

Jan 22 - £91,915
Feb 22 - £91,765
Mar 22 - £104,601
Apr 22 - £107,495

Wasn't expecting almost 3k up this month, as am still building cash buffer so had to prioritise that over investments. Thanks Mr Market!

It's wild that in the first four months of 2022, I've already blown past the annual gain I made throughout 2019. (Though I am almost flat to EOY 2021, but it's still a fun metric) Thanks Mr Market x2!

Overall, not a great month. I have a lot of my investments in the NASDAQ and that's certainly taken a hit this month. I also spent a bit too much on toys.

In order to make up for these hits, I plan on drastically reducing my discretionary spending over the next two months and doing other things to save money (e.g. eat food from the freezer and pantry - I got lots!) I'm about 1.5 weeks into this spending diet and things are going good. Have to spend several hundred dollars on new tires for my car but that's something I can't neglect.

It's hard to see my accounts at the same place they were back in November... it's been a tough year for me and I want to see something out of it, hence my drastic measures. Hopefully my investments don't take too much more of a hit.

Seems the stock market gives and then takes.  Kind of a strange feeling to be stuck in this zone between 200K and 220K.  Still just saving and putting the money in as planned.  Will be worth it years from now when its needed and we have recovered from this down period.

After getting beyond 150.000 € last month, thanks to a credit fueled crypto-boost, I am back under 150.000 €.

I see, I am not alone. But I am VERY unhappy about my stock picks. It's mostly tech stocks where I bought the hype. It's just a very, very small portion, but it proves that I can't stock pick, at least not without putting in the work. And I am not willing to put in the work.

Missed updating in April, and had some spreadsheet errors that resulted in a couple revised numbers. Nothing major though.
Last month was a walloping in the markets, but I'm sticking to the path. I figured out the number amount I need to be hitting about 58-60% SR for the year and will keep on investing regularly, regardless of the market news. Rather than focus on the doom and gloom, I am working on a plan to job hop and hopefully increase my compensation, by summer's end (I hope).

Glad to see everyone's updates :)
