For some reasons my stats didn't save. Probably pushed Preview, not Post...
Well, I am around 124.000 €, slightly above my March numbers.

I am confident to hit 125.000 € (the small half-time) this month.

Well, I've been hiding in the shadows for quite some time now, but I guess it's time to come forward in order to say thank you MMM, thank you MMM forums, thank you crazy stock markets, thank you FU money, and last but not least, thank you very much young rubberduck from five years ago. I went past 100 K on 14 June 2018, and as of today, I reached the 250 K mark (let's see for how long), holding 240 K in index funds and an emergency fund of 10 K in cash. My coast FIRE target is approx. 500 K, so today really marks a milestone worth contemplating.

It wouldn't have been possible, though, without my SO (who on the whole is even more financially responsible than me, albeit with a more conservative approach, holding 100 % in cash), without my grandma (who was able to burn through cash like nothing else, always convinced of having superior money handling abilities, yet in her generosity leaving me a single bedroom condo, which---not having any use for it myself with a family of four---I was able to sell for a good price), nor without my dad and his support.

After discovering MMM early 2016 most of the advice really resonated with me. I took up biking to work again (10 km commute), revoked some costly pension insurance plans (the contracts were already 5 years old or even more, but I was able to find formal errors in the paperwork), finally started saving 40 to 50% of my paycheck in index funds (while having carried only 10 K investments in the years before), then decided to switch to a 60% part-time schedule for well over a year, invested almost all of my inheritance, went into parental leave in 2020 again (9 months total, no pay). Yes, we did make some costly decisions, but always in return for stress reduction: Bought a used car in 2016 (10 K, cash) for the 20 min kindergarten commute (with a bike carrier, so I would drive there, then ride to work, and my SO could pick up the kids on her way home). Relocated, with 50% increase in rent, so our older son could visit a suitable school; now he's got a 50 m walk to school. Rented a lot and built a cabin at a lake 1.5 hrs from home (~20K, paid for in cash). Bought a small sail-boat (almost 40 years old, there's nothing more to depreciate) for the lake; really helps me re-charge my batteries. All the while, I never cashed out on any market gains, and neither did I bat an eye when Covid hit the markets.

Finally throwing down the gauntlet instead of only bragging about the lucky run I had these past 5 years, I am aiming to reach 500 K in 2028. See you around in the race from 250 K to 500 K.

Posting a little early for August 1, but my paycheck came in a few days early. Still working on my payment pipeline, but I have a lot of A/R from settled cases that are awaiting payment so I'm not worried. Looks like I may be graduating around October or November 2021 - we will see! I'm going to continue to hustle.

@lexde I love seeing how quickly you're progressing now! So exciting.

Separately, not sure if you care, but I think your annual gains row may not capture all of your gains? Depends on the dates you're calculating things, but if the numbers in your table all represent your numbers on the first of each month, you're only capturing 11 months of gains for each year. In 2020, for example, your annual gain of $53,924.98 is the difference between your December number and your January number -- but if those are both the first of the month (i.e. January 1-December 1), you're missing all your December gains. To capture those as well, your annual gain should be January 1-January 1 (of the following year). So for 2020 (again, I'm assuming all your numbers are first of the month, which may not be right), your annual gain would actually be ~$62k.

You are completely right and it never occurred to me. Thank you!
The progress is definitely exciting but a little scary too. I'm just hoping I can hang on to this for a few years and set myself up for long-term success.

Some great news this month: I finally became eligible for my employer's 401k matches, and though I had thought I was going to be on a six-year vesting schedule, it turns out their contributions are safe harbor matches and vest immediately. Really good surprise.

I'm not that upset considering that a couple of larger-than-expected bills hit this month (seriously why does an MRI cost $328 one place but $4200 somewhere else?).  I was hoping to graduate by the end of the year, but it's starting to look like it may be closer to February.  Which will put me right at 3X salary by the time I hit 40.  Though that 3X won't be specifically retirement savings, so I still feel quite a bit behind.

End of Month Balance
7/2020: $107,142
8/2020: $117,360
9/2020: $116.8K
10/2020: $117.5K
11/2020: $133.8K
6/2021: $192K
8/2021: $204K

Finally broke the $200K milestone. The past 12 months have us at almost $100K increase, which is kinda nuts to think about and makes me feel like there has been some really wild market upswing because we haven't come close to contributing that much.

A good month. Got a tax refund and invested most of it. In addition I booked some holidays and have to refund myself from my medium term savings account.

When I bought my mining pc in mid May, the Bitcoin was at 37.000€, so the pc cost me roughly 36 milli-Bitcoin (mBTC). I am going to measure the mining results against the direct investment. I am assuming roughly 3 mBTC per month. The first 2,5 months the pc wasn't running all the time.

We will see...

Don't have a teaching contract yet this year :(  I'm still on the sublist and should be able to make gains each month (notwithstanding market fluctuations); however I can really pick up a contract anytime during the year. Such is the life of a teacher without a permanent contract.

My hope was to make it $250,000 by the end of this school year. It will definitely be tougher without a full year contract, but we'll see.

I include money that is invested for retirement accounts , but not value of savings for specific items (car insurance for the year etc.) or checking accounts as it is money I will likely use this month. I am hoping to hit 135k by end of year.

Looks like I didn't post last month, which makes sense because I was doing a tech detox of sorts. Bought a house from some relatives this month so not quite an arm's length transaction. Both parties thought the price seemed fair though. As far as I know the lender didn't do an appraisal, so I'm just going to go with the average Zillow and Redfin like I did with my last house. Good month for my stonks too.

Hello all time for me to join this thread! I am generally a slow and steady growth person. My goal is to graduated this thread before my 35th birthday which is in about 2.5 years.

I sold my pervious house for allot more than what I was expecting to get out of it. Have the new house in the refinance process to cover the construction loans needed to update it.
Now it is time to build my EF back up as allot of it was used on the updating of the new house.
Looking forward to keep this progress going.

134.533 €
+ 7.131 €

Another crazy crypto month. I am now starting to pay back my bigger mortage. That lead to a crazy savings rate of 70%. But this number is not realistic. It was only possible due to credit cards and getting some money (over 1000€) from my short-terms-savings-account. It is now lower than it was at the beginning of the year. It is no income, but clearly, it is nothing I could do every month...

Maybe I should include my short-terms-savings-account in the net worth. That way, I would just reduce the account... Or I have to see the taken money as income. It's complicated...

For context: I'm 32 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93 (1 year tracking)
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
3/20: $118,287.76 (2 years tracking)
3/21: $206,593.43 (3 years tracking)
4/21: $211,501.00 (+$4,907.57, +2.38%)
5/21: $223,080.37 (+$11,579.37, +5.47%)
6/21: $226,044.45 (+$2,964.08, +1.33%)
7/21: $233,579.18 (+$7,534.73, +3.33%)
8/21: $237,466.31 (+$3,887.13, +1.66%)
9/21: $245,186.52 (+$11,607.34, +4.97%)

Spent like crazy this month, so the market must have helped me. Always a nice surprise!

Oh man, I was so excited to finally make it to this thread in April, and then haven't updated at all, oops. Still plugging away, and being helped an insane amount by the markets currently, so we'll see how the year turns out...

EOY 2019 = $32,211.58
EOY 2020 = $79,741.14
Jan 2021 = $82,136.05 (+$2,394.91)
Feb 2021 = $87,168.43 (+$5,032.38)
Mar 2021 = $94,241.61 (+$7,073.18)
Apr 2021 = $102,121.70 (+$7,880.09)
May 2021 = $104,928.25 (+$2,806.55)
Jun 2021 = $110,228.32 (+5,354.13)
Jul 2021 = $115,021.99 (+$4,739.61)
Aug 2021 = $120,726.40 (+$5,704.41)

Should break $130k by the end of the year on contributions alone, which is super exciting!

I just graduated from the other thread, rolling up here!  Psyched as I literally had $0 saved less than 2 years ago, when I opened my first IRA.

I turn 40 next month and making up for lost time.  Definitely a lean/barista FIRE type over here.  I guess I'm already pretty close for barista, I don't have any specific plan of quitting right now, I like my general areas of work (acupuncture and music) and I'll always do at least SOMETHING in them, and my fiance is trying to get his footing in a job he likes (he's trying to figure that out).

I do know I would like some schedule flexibility though for doing thru hikes again and I've set myself a rough goal of doing the CDT in the next 5 years to complete my triple crown.  But I just got a promotion and working 5 days a week at just one place for the first time in my life, so trying to ride that out and see how it feels for a minute.

I am trying to save up $50k in taxable/etc for potential student loan tax bomb though when that's forgiven (I base my actions on current data, I am not a person in fear of all debt- I just make a plan) so definitely aiming for some extra stuff in the bank.

Posting a little early for September 1, but my paycheck came in and all of my bills are pre-paid. Over the course of August I was able to free up a lot of the A/R I had outstanding. Looks like I'm on track to graduate on 10/1. Still working hard and very grateful for a big month this month.

Big net worth increase this month at +$33,401.35.

Prior Progress: Race from 10 to 100k!

I've been lurking on this form for the past few months as I finish up the race to 100k. Your progress this year has been insane, anything specific you've been doing, or have you been seeing significant returns from the market?

Hey! :-)

My gains have been exclusively from employment opportunities. I went from making about 80k from 2018-2019 to 110k per year from 2019-2021 to a job making around 350k (variable) in March, with no lifestyle inflation (with a few exceptions, I live basically the same as I did when I was making 65k in 2016). So unfortunately it's nothing besides pure luck, and I'm not sure how long I will have the opportunity so I'm just socking away as much as I can for as long as I can.

I am seeing decent returns in the market (I have a duplex I purchased in 10/2020 and rent half out to cut my living expenses a bit) and am invested primarily in large-cap funds (VTSAX equivalent) which have been solid performers but the majority of my NW increase is from bigger paychecks.

You are amazing! Congrats on the new job opportunity, seems like it will pay magnitudes of dividends down the road, even if you are in the position for a short period of time! I look forward to watching your continued performance and I plan to obtain my first rental within the next year!

Well, I did it.  A lot of shit went down, I quit my job in August, got my last paycheck on 9/3, and from here on out, we'll see what happens to the Net Worth.  I have a year, more or less, saved up in my money market.  It's just a very weird feeling right now, especially in the middle of being diagnosed with shit, but I'm convinced it was mostly stress that induced these new chronic issues.  Now I need to take significant time to learn to live with this before I make any future work commitments.

May 2021                 - $159,000
June 2021                - $155,000
July 2021                 - $158,400
August 2021             - $164,900

Just updated last 3 months as life got in a way and I forgot about this thread.
Note: we are not adding to this account , so all of it it's pretty much organic growth. I would love to shove big amounts again, oh I miss actually buying ETFs, but I've gone to part-time and soon planning to quit that job due to mental health , so we are going to be on 1 1/4 income for a while ( I do have another casual job 1 day per week). I may even turn dividend reinvestment plan off , so we get dividends pay out if we struggle with our income.

So it's going to be a progress at a snail's pace BUT it's still amazing that our little crop that we managed to plant
in better years is now producing "harvest"( growth)  every year.

8/6/2020            - $ 89,237

9/24/2021          - $173,134

From November 2011 to April 2012 I saved $10,000.  This was the first time I have ever saved money. I spent it all hiking the Appalachian Trail.
Now I have saved $100,000 from May 2020 to September 2021! I have no plans to spend it.

Since the Pandemic started we have saved $100,000.  I am no quite sure who to tell that would be really excited for me except this forum).

Progress continues

Wow, that’s some great progress, you are taking this race really seriously!  Wish I could get to that kind of pace!

Thank you, my DW would say I take it a bit too seriously at times, but I'm pretty serious about retiring after my youngest goes off to college and being FI and every week I get a little closer to that goal.  Of course all we need is a Stock Market crash and these numbers will go back a bit, but the foundation is being built.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
