For context: I'm 31 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
3/20: $118,287.76
3/21: $206,593.43
4/21: $211,501.00 (+$4,907.57, +2.38%)
5/21: $223,080.37 (+$11,579.37, +5.47%)
6/21: $226,044.45 (+$2,964.08, +1.33%)

Slower growth this month. It's from a combination of the market slowing down and a big spending month. A lot of things that were deferred for covid are finally coming up again, so the next few months will probably be similar. But it's all planned spending for things I'm excited about, so oh well.

Still deploying my previous down payment stash this month (in hindsight I should've done the entire amount at the end of 2020 when I started, but I kept thinking the market may drop... lesson learned), so the big additions should tapper off after the last one next month.

Another decent month. It would be nice to crack $200,000 by the end of June. However, I will have to survive 2 months without a salary (life of a teacher) so it'll probably take me until well into the Fall to cross $200,000 again.

Uh, one addition, I bought a gaming PC to mine cryptos... late to the game. I will report, starting next month, the ROI.

A so-so month.  I'm leaving for vacation in a few days, so I feel like I've been spending So. Much. Money. getting ready for that.  I'm sure next month will be a losing month because all the actual vacation expenses will be reflected in that.

A better month than I expected, considering the iffy stock market. I did hit a huge personal milestone this month, in that my student loans finally dropped into five figures (in 2017 I had ~$225k of debt and now I'm at ~$99k). That's still........so much lol, but it feels great nonetheless.

Mar2021 — $229977
Apr2021 — $241104
May2021 — $249275

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.
I stuck to my strategy, and laid low for the first part of May. And popped back in for some gains when I was read to do so.  A similar strategy is in place in June, as its mostly a month I tend to stay in safety.

It appears I’ll be hitting the $250K goal I set for myself to hit in December 2021 —many months ahead of schedule.  So with that; I guess a new goal will be $280k.  I’ve pulled in gains above the 20% mark thus far for the year.  So hopefully I can keep the trend going and perhaps gain another 10%.  I’m excited to see how the next 7 months treat my accounts.

Still slow going for me, but June (and the rest of the year) should be better.  I still think I have a shot to get to 160 by the end of the year, but it’ll take some real work now (and no market crash)

1) I've crossed the halfway point in this race.  Hooray!  (Took just under 2 years)  (Combined NW with my SO [recently unemployed] has now passed $300k)
2) The nice, steady increase has made it much more difficult to consider quitting in July or August to take a gap year.  Part time is not an option at my cog-in-the-machine job, but I just don't feel like working anymore, period.

A lot has gone on since I last posted in 2017. I was laid off all of a sudden in April of 2017, started college for the first time in June of 2017, and graduated with a BS in CS and Math in June of 2020. I started my Masters in June of 2020 also and accepted my first post college job and started in March of 2021. Somewhere amongst all this I apparently graduated this forum thread.

One of the biggest things that FI has gotten me was the ability to 100% focus on school and not worry so much about money. Certainly it was in the back of my mind, but I just lived according to mustachian principles, and worked hard towards my goal. I took out student loans because I'm good with numbers and that total you see above is net worth, meaning that's AFTER subtracting the loans. I don't care so much about debt free as I do about a positive balance sheet. The hardest part came last year, having just graduated college, unable to find work, and the market tanks. It was tough but I kept moving forward. Big thanks to my sweetheart and her support. She found work while I was in school that most months covered our expenses, which was especially useful last Summer.

It's been good reading the last few pages here and seeing everyone's progress. Hope to see you all soon in the next thread!

WOW!!! Congrats!!!

What a testament to the true reason we do all of this - so that we can achieve our lifestyle goals without freaking out about money. Being able to go to school and live off of your savings after a layoff is pretty amazing!

End of Month Balance
7/2020: $107,142
8/2020: $117,360
9/2020: $116.8K
10/2020: $117.5K
11/2020: $133.8K

As of today, our balances are at $192K. I haven't updated here in a while, because I'm not really one to track numbers every month, as much as I like to think I am. We're sitting at 44% increase in investments since early Dec 2020, and about 100% increase since 365 days ago. Wow. I know market conditions have been bonkers lately, but even still very early into my investing career I feel like the snowball has started and I won't soon be able to stop it.

December 21, 2020   - $140,390
January 31, 2021      - $137,700 ( went down due to individual share holding)
February 28, 2021    - $146,500
March 30, 2021        - $152,700

Forgot all about this race.. Anyway, things are ticking along, we are not really adding anything ( due to reduced work), the growth is organic , from investments already in.

April 2021 - $153,300
May 2021 - $159,000

So I've been out of the community for a long time but I wanted to drop in to say that sometime in the last year I made the gap up and crossed the $250k line. I've been focusing on my work and have been massively increasing income. With my traveling it's hard to reduce spending. I did end up getting another 2002 Honda Insight to replace the 01 I had that was totaled so I'm using less gas than my Toyota Matrix was. However, I'm still doing things in a pretty wasteful manner such as driving fast because my income loss from not doing so is far greater than slowing down. I still get about 55mpg on average though.

Went on vacation, and went over budget, so an increase is nice.  I was hoping to graduate by the end of the year, but it's looking like that is going to be more realistic sometime around January or February.  I'm also expecting some large medical bills for Mr. Sugaree in the next few months, so that's going to be a small setback too.

Looks like I'm on track to graduate early, I feel like I cheated a little since I put all my cash in my taxable brokerage account over the past few months which isn't really representative of how much I'll be contributing each month going forward, but nevertheless I'm happy to be so close! I've moved my graduation goal up to next month, we'll see if the market is friendly next month too, I also added contributions and returns rows to my table.

The big jump this month is kind of illusory: I refinanced my home in June at a value much higher than I had previously been estimating, so my home equity shot up this month for no reason attributable to me. Still, even accounting for that, it's extremely wild to see where I am now compared to just one year ago.

June 2021 Update
3/31/2017 (52,848.85) - Found MMM
3/31/2018 $(14,916.69) - 1 year in
3/31/2019 $9,917.20 - 2 years in
3/31/2020 $22,896.16 - 3 years in
3/31/2021 $92,842.32 - 4 years in
4/30/2021 $100,212.15 - Join this race
5/31/2021   $103,329.82
6/30/2021   $108,949.13 - Increase of $5,619.31 in June

I'm averaging a monthly NW increase of just over $5k. That's $60k a year and considering my salary is "only"$73K that's pretty great. Hopefully this can continue through the rest of the year. :)

Can't shed an ever mounting desire to GTFO of work for a year. So I'm jumping into THIS race to keep me from jumping out of the rat race too soon.   I'm only tracking investment accounts. keeping my savings/checking mentally earmarked as an emergency-sabbatical fund. I front loaded my 401k contributions  to max out at end of May. My stretch goal for December 2021 is 175k.

2021
April  =  $149,154
May. =   $153,211

I have one more contribution to max 401k for 2021, then it's on to max HSA in June. Progress will slow in July unless I begin to make monthly taxable brokerage contributions

2021
April  =  $149,154
May. =   $153,211
June 30 = $162,003

Whoo, that concludes my tax advantaged contributions for the year! Everything from now till 2022 will be down to growth.

For context: I'm 32 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
3/20: $118,287.76
3/21: $206,593.43
4/21: $211,501.00 (+$4,907.57, +2.38%)
5/21: $223,080.37 (+$11,579.37, +5.47%)
6/21: $226,044.45 (+$2,964.08, +1.33%)
7/21: $233,579.18 (+$7,534.73, +3.33%)

Went on vacation this month and spent a lot of money, so it's fun to see such a big increase in spite of that.

So much progress on this thread.

I can't find where I have ever updated my progress in this race.  I guess I thought this would take so long I should space out my updates a little bit.  This is just cash and investments and some of this cash is EF and some is sinking fund for house projects, so I'm not sure if we will keep up this progress. And this is a surprising accumulation for 6 months!

5/31/2020          - $ 72,426
6/19/2020          - $ 82,681
8/6/2020            - $ 89,237
9/2/2020            - $ 93,346
10/6/2020          - $103,450
1/5/2021            - $114,837

Looks a great jump but I didn't track for a couple of months as I had a baby - just been talking her through our investment strategy so here's to 2nd gen FIRE ;)
My work share scheme matured with great gains so that's been reinvested now. Did need a new (to us) car for the kiddo but save for that separately in cash so doesn't affect these numbers.
Still on fully paid maternity leave at the moment so things will change in the next few months, she's worth it though.

Great to see some big updates here, always enjoy seeing people come back with infrequent updates showing that they've remained committed

Apr2021 — $241104
May2021 — $249275
Jun2021 — $252084

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.
I stuck to my strategy, and laid low for the majority of June. And popped back in for some gains when I was ready to do so. .

I hit the $250K goal I set for myself to hit in December 2021 —many months ahead of schedule.  So with that; I guess a new goal will be $280k.  I’ve pulled in gains above the 20% mark thus far for the year.  So hopefully I can keep the trend going and perhaps gain another 10%.  I’m excited to see how the next 7 months treat my accounts.

11-2020   $135,680.66        -
12-2020   $142,532.46        -

I had set a small goal for myself to be at $200k before the end of the year, and at this rate it looks like it'll happen sooner than that! I'm pleased with this progress, and it helps that I'm now finally eligible for my companies 401k. I'm going to have a bit of a mess on my hands over the next few months as my company has been acquired and we're moving to their benefits structure, but hopefully by the end of the year I'll have all my retirement accounts sorted out.

For some reasons my stats didn't save. Probably pushed Preview, not Post...
Well, I am around 124.000 €, slightly above my March numbers.

I am confident to hit 125.000 € (the small half-time) this month.

Well, I've been hiding in the shadows for quite some time now, but I guess it's time to come forward in order to say thank you MMM, thank you MMM forums, thank you crazy stock markets, thank you FU money, and last but not least, thank you very much young rubberduck from five years ago. I went past 100 K on 14 June 2018, and as of today, I reached the 250 K mark (let's see for how long), holding 240 K in index funds and an emergency fund of 10 K in cash. My coast FIRE target is approx. 500 K, so today really marks a milestone worth contemplating.

It wouldn't have been possible, though, without my SO (who on the whole is even more financially responsible than me, albeit with a more conservative approach, holding 100 % in cash), without my grandma (who was able to burn through cash like nothing else, always convinced of having superior money handling abilities, yet in her generosity leaving me a single bedroom condo, which---not having any use for it myself with a family of four---I was able to sell for a good price), nor without my dad and his support.

After discovering MMM early 2016 most of the advice really resonated with me. I took up biking to work again (10 km commute), revoked some costly pension insurance plans (the contracts were already 5 years old or even more, but I was able to find formal errors in the paperwork), finally started saving 40 to 50% of my paycheck in index funds (while having carried only 10 K investments in the years before), then decided to switch to a 60% part-time schedule for well over a year, invested almost all of my inheritance, went into parental leave in 2020 again (9 months total, no pay). Yes, we did make some costly decisions, but always in return for stress reduction: Bought a used car in 2016 (10 K, cash) for the 20 min kindergarten commute (with a bike carrier, so I would drive there, then ride to work, and my SO could pick up the kids on her way home). Relocated, with 50% increase in rent, so our older son could visit a suitable school; now he's got a 50 m walk to school. Rented a lot and built a cabin at a lake 1.5 hrs from home (~20K, paid for in cash). Bought a small sail-boat (almost 40 years old, there's nothing more to depreciate) for the lake; really helps me re-charge my batteries. All the while, I never cashed out on any market gains, and neither did I bat an eye when Covid hit the markets.

Finally throwing down the gauntlet instead of only bragging about the lucky run I had these past 5 years, I am aiming to reach 500 K in 2028. See you around in the race from 250 K to 500 K.
