These are investments only between me and my wife`s 401ks, Traditional IRAs(maxed), taxable brokerage, immediate emergency in checking account($3,000), and Money Market account for emergency funds(currently sitting at about 6 months of our budget):

April 13, 2019 = $100,325.68
May 19, 2019 = $104,598.06
June 29, 2019 = $116,258.11
July 28, 2019 = $125,262.57
August 24, 2019 = $125,496.17
September 8, 2019 = $135,203.65
September 21, 2019 = $141,995.43
October 6, 2019 = $144,609.88
October 19, 2019 = $148,424.92

Edit: I contemplated to add my immediate emergency funds of $3,000 to the tally.

Buuuuut getting LASIK, paid for a vacation, and fixed my bike!

As of yesterday I'm over $150,000 invested for the first time; maybe $250,000 net worth with paid for condo & car.

It was only six years ago that I had to borrow $200 from a friend to stop a tax check from bouncing; because I did not have $200.

Crossed $200k today! Unreal!  Whether it holds through to my 1st of the month update though is still up in the air.  Still, about 2/3 through the 100k to 250k race!

I've just passed the $100k mark, so its off to $250k we go!

Going to reformat this a little:

                   401k              Roth IRA          Investment    total
2019 Q2      $   98,911       $ 1,049           $  686           $ 100,646
2019 Q3      $ 119,001       $ 2,134           $ 1,156         $ 122,291

Now I can see my progress a little better.

I stumbled across this website a while back and finally decided to jump in on the thread to help with motivation (it's crazy how easy it is to spend money...). I'll only include details on this first post (I always like reading through other people's) and then I'll try to stick with a quick number update. The biggest struggle I have had with saving money has been my love of cars and travel which unfortunately aren't the cheapest hobbies. We'll see if this thread can motivate me to be a little stricter with the spending.

So the NW number is taken from Mint and includes my 401K, Vanguard personal account and the normal credit cards, checking and savings, etc. I'm only 26 years old and am not sure how far down the Mustachian path I'll go long term. I want to find a balance of smart spending while still indulging in luxuries occasionally, keeping my hobbies, but I also don't want to be working until I'm 60. I've always been called frugal by my family, but I'm nowhere close to a lot of people on this forum. The motivation to spend less is always a good thing!

Investments (401K, HSA and Vangaurd): $111,572.21
Cash: $3,511.25
CC Debt: -$3,240.32

In summary:
10/14/19 NW: $111,843.14

Cheers everyone, and good luck!

Welcome!
Looks like you’re doing pretty good for 26.
Out of curiosity, why are you holding enough in cash to pay of the CC debt but haven’t paid it off?

That just looks like a monthly balance to me, that’s what I do, keep pretty much exactly enough for the credit card auto payment to go through and cover whatever else comes out of my checking automatically.  The rest gets invested.  The balance sometime is more than my actual monthly spending because I’m still charging to the card but it doesn’t have to be paid off for almost an extra month, so a lot of the time I have like $3-4K balance on the card, even if my monthly charges are more like $2k.  Oh, and welcome Adblair0

Thanks!

That's a good question and I go back and forth with that a lot. I use my CC for day to day purchases and sometimes I let that spending get out of hand with dumb things. I try to keep both accounts separate since I don't want to start viewing that savings as money I can spend. However, I always go back to the fact that holding CC balance costs more due to the interest which causes me to just pay it off anyway. So the short version is that it's more of a mental thing where I'm trying to prevent myself from spending it. I just need to have more discipline with the CC spending. When I get better with time I should really try doing more what JAYSLOL says!

Cheers!

For context: I'm 30 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
9/19: $104,368.69 (+2,796.36, +2.75%)
10/19: $107,279.56 (+2,910.87, +2.79%)
11/19: $111,107.47 (+3,827.91, +3.57%)

Spent way too much this month, so my cash buffer is lower than usual, but the net worth is still up due to automatic contributions and a little help from the market.

Sept 1 - 101.6k
Oct 1 - 106.2k (+4600)
Nov 1 - 108.0k (+1800)

Weak month for me, but at least the numbers are going in the right direction.  Was hoping to hit 115k by the end of the year, might still be doable

VALVORE HAS ENTERED THE RACE!

1-2019 = $82,000
2-2019 = $90,000 (maxed 2018 IRA)
3-2019 = $102,600 (maxed DH 2018 IRA & 2018 HSA)
4-2019 = $107,800
5-2019 = $111,100
6-2019 = $121,400
7-2019 = $127,700

8-2019 = $135,200
9-2019 = $141,200 (extra 3k to IRA)
10-2019 = $150,000

Gained 50K in just 7 months. I have no idea how we did that. Hoping to get to 165K by end of the year and looking to hit 200K by my birthday in May.

This will track only my investments and savings.

Apr 2011:  $49k
Jan 2013:  $80K     >>>> Out of work/stay at home Dad Aug 13 - Mar 15
Jan 2014:  $97k
Jan 2015:  $100k   >>>> Back to work, but daily 3 hour commute (Good for audio books, bad for car and home life)
Jan 2016:  $103k   >>>> Got position close to home in Jan, hated job and became trainee in current career field in Apr 16
Jan 2017:  $108k
Jan 2018:  $127k

Jan 2019:  $133k
Feb 2019:  $145k
Mar 2019:  $147k
Apr 2019:  $151K
May 2019: $154k  >>>> Graduated trainee program. Whoopee!
Jun 2019: $149,276
Jul 2019: $157,542
Aug 2019: $159,018
Sep 2019: $158,064
Oct 2019:  $161,255

Nov 2019: $164,825

My numbers don't include house value, which I'm glad because my Zillow estimate just shot up 12K, for no good known reason. It's bound to come back down..and that's arbitrary volatility that I can't live with! lol. Although, I also checked Redfin and that estimate is even 10k higher than Zillow! If I added my home equity to my investments, I'd be at $251K and moving on to the next race....

Felt like bringing in the top level history:

Oct-12: $0.00
Nov-12: $432.15
Dec-12: $1192.8
Jan-13: $1542.90
Jan-14: $7286.11
Jan-15: $16985.5
Jan-16: $26770.16
Jan-17: $58399.77
Jan-18: $95469.77
Feb-18: 111724.81
Mar-18: $112878.91
Apr-18: $117425.35
May-18: $123001.77
Jun-18: $125427.65
Jul-18: $135341.45
Aug-18: $138059.7
Sep-18: $142216.90
Oct-18: $152616
Nov-18: $145926
Dec-18: $150084
Jan-19: $142749
Feb-19: $159520
Mar-19: $168002
Apr-19: $176343
May-19: $184512
Jun-19: $181480
Jul-19: $197044
Aug-19: $204485
Sep-19: $204404

Oct-19: September is always a great month as bonus gets added to the stashe. This was a very good year but bonus wasn't as amazing as I had thought, still happy of course as it is still a variable pay that I am thankful for regardless. Rest of the year will slow down as I only have a little bit of pre-tax 401k room left and will then shift to after tax 401k fully. ESPP and HSA contributions will continue as is. All in all I'm expecting to contribute about $3.5-$4k per month so might not make graduation until February or so.

Oct-19: $225122
Nov-19: $239478

Another great month, without a significant drop I might reach $250k by years end or perhaps end of January. Super stoked to see the power of compounding and savings automation take over. It should slow down a bit now that my 401k is full and hsa is also about done.

Sept 1 - 101.6k
Oct 1 - 106.2k (+4600)
Nov 1 - 108.8k (+2600)

Updated my numbers from yesterday.  I missed $800 when I added things up a day early, so it was a better month than I thought.  Aiming to hit 115k by the end of 2019

5/31/2018 $100,519.07  - not even the slightest clue on target date...I'll be here for a few years :)
6/30/2018 $105,187.34

8/31/2018 $116,748.06

11/30/2018 $120,116/63

1/31/2019 $121,188.34 (next couple of months are my favorite time of year - 401K is in play, bonus and employer 401K match (3% of compensation) all hit)
2/28/2019 $136,880.76 (one twomore fun months, then back to slow(er) growth mode)
3/31/2019 $141,195.30 (one more fun month - employer 401k contribution and last month until max 401k for the year)
4/30/2019 $161,209.95 (going to try to continue speed with taxable account - we will see with a 2-week old at home how this plays out)
5/31/2019 $157,215.34 (market pain decline despite adding close to $4,000 in my after-tax account.....stay the course)
6/30/2019 $168,401.72 ($63,214.38 in one year...stay the course)

Newish here, hi all! Did my networth for the first time in a long time and realised that I'm almost at 200K! The values include superannuation (the Australian retirement account, which I contribute to personally because I'm self-employed), but do not include equity in my primary residence, which is mortgaged with 20%+ equity.

1/11/2019 - $198,410.93

Hope to hit $200K in the next two months but depends on my fledgling business's cashflow.

May 19, 2019 = $104,598.06
June 29, 2019 = $116,258.11
July 28, 2019 = $125,262.57
August 24, 2019 = $125,496.17
September 8, 2019 = $135,203.65
September 21, 2019 = $141,995.43
October 6, 2019 = $144,609.88
October 19, 2019 = $148,424.92
November 3, 2019 = $153,424.19

We hit a milestone by breaking through $150,000!

Breakdown on our holdings:
My 401K = $65,325.07
Wife`s 401K = $51,043.63
My TIRA =  $6,414.24

Joint taxable account holdings = $20,940(This includes a Money Market Account for emergency funds that covers 6 months. Short term is reached. Our long term target is a year and a half to 2 years over time. We`re moving into CDs pretty soon.)

I’m jumping in this thread with a few ideas and thoughts in mind. I don’t plan to add house equity or extras like that. I’m not even going to add the spouse’s 401k. I’ll be solely tracking
My 401k and my Roth IRA Numbers to go toward the goal of $250k. I may add the savings account numbers later, but most of that pays toward the last of my mortgage and a basement remodel right now.

My stats:

Jul2019 — $101953
Aug2019 — $106277
Sep2019 — $111050
Oct2019 — $114791
Nov2019 — $120215

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month

11//2018   $100,130.27
12//2018   $97,696.71
1//2019   $107,673.20
2//2019   $116,133.78
3//2019   $119,538.07
4//2019   $127,526.50
5//2019   $125,693.12
6//2019   $138,641.02
7//2019   $144,176.97
8//2019   $138,441.20
9//2019   $144,935.02
10//2019   $155,176.79 - 66% savings rate for the month. Overall good month. This ball just keeps on rolling faster and faster!

Expenses - fancy restaurants in Seattle during a grad school conference, and paid $300 to repair our muffler on our car. Car is worth around $1200 if we sold it today I think, but we're just committed to driving it into, and through the ground at this point. We treat it like a work truck. If we were *real* mustachian's we'd just sell the damn thing but we use it most weekends to visit family that's about a 30 minute drive away.

If market is OK we should end the year around $170k. Starting to get some anxiety with our level of investments in the market but just shooting to stay the course at this point. Continuing to work and VTSAX and chill for the most part. Should get $2500 tuition reimbursement from work this month which will be really nice!

Newest Mustachian thing I've been into lately is buying used clothes that are damaged and then repairing them with my sewing machine. I bought a torn merino wool Icebreaker tshirt -- around $70 new -- for $14 on Ebay including shipping. And sewed a patch in it. It's getting cold this month and been eyeing some sort of down jacket now that I'm using an electric bike to get around I don't stay as warm! Trying to find a nice used one on eBay.

That's super cool. Good for the planet too. I find I have such pride of ownership when I repair or maintain something with my hands.

A little late this month but....
11/7/19 NW: $173,838 - Projected Graduation Goal NW (12/31/2020): $270,847 (?!)
Note - in Oct I got a much larger year end bonus than expected. Also counted my extra paycheck (3 paycheck month in Nov) in the current NW. The increase seems crazy and I feel like I'm missing something but....maybe my investments are doing work?!

Thought I would join this race just to keep me pushing to break the $250,000.00 barrier.  I will track it as 401k only and breaking through is long overdue.  I expect to bust through March 1, 2019.  My 401k savings is abysmal right now, but getting better each quarter.

Nov. 12, 2019         $238,035.96

New here and this challenge is inspiring.

Net worth:

11/01/19:  $233,622

We have a good shot of hitting $250k by January 1st as long as our investments keep doing well and we get decent holiday bonuses.  Can't wait!
