These are investments only between me and my wife`s 401ks, Traditional IRAs, and taxable brokerage accounts:

April 13, 2019 = $100,325.68
May 4, 2019 = $104,848.79
May 19, 2019 = $104,598.06
June 7, 2019 = $109,857.56
June 15, 2019 = $112,748.14
June 29, 2019 = $116,258.11
July 12, 2019 = $121,966.53
July 28, 2019 = $125,262.57($1,000 away from maxing out both of our IRAs for the year)

We hit that halfway point to 250K.

First number is retirement savings, second is total NW including cash emergency savings and real estate equity.

January 2015: $98,619

January 2016: $101,235
December 2016: $140,779 (total NW $269,089)

January 2017: $151,307 (total NW $276,052)
December 2017: $193,677 (total NW $364,276)

January 2018: $203,876
December 2018: $194,973 (total NW $367,535)

January 2019: $210,742 (total NW $375,622)
February 2019: $220,342 (total NW $390,613)
March 2019: $222,125 (total NW $391,337)
April 2019: $228,200 (total NW $403,977)
May 2019: $223,933 (total NW $394,029)
June 2019: $238,000 (total NW $409,841)
July 2019: $245,030 (total NW $418,493) so close!

The total NW is over $250k but I'm focused on retirement only for this challenge. A good chunk of the NW is real estate equity.

09/05/18     154,000
10/01/18     168,330
12/01/18     163,458
01/01/19     155,535
02/01/19     166,939
03/01/19     174,622
04/01/19     177,810
05/01/19     200,000
06/01/19     195,345
07/01/19     207,000
08/01/19     232,732

It's almost been a year, and we are up 78K from September of last year.  Pension dump happened in late July which is why we increased so much this month.  I don't know exact numbers, but I would think that about 45K are our contributions, 22K from pension dump and the rest are gains.  Crazy!  Barring any major downturns we will probably hit 250K in January when I fill our Roth IRA for 2020.

2019 Goal = $135k (Invested Total) & $170K (Total NW)
2019 Stretch Goal = $160k (Invested Total) & $200k (Total NW)

I am using Invested Total for this race. Predicted Graduation = Jan 2022 or 4 year from start.

We listed the rental house, so I adjusted the value to what we expect to get for the house.  NW Goals have also been adjusted above to account for no longer (hopefully) having the rental house.  Invested total will take another hit in Aug as I switch jobs and will lose my non-vested balance, this looks like close to $6k right now.  With these changes the $135k invested total looks doable but the $160k (by end of 2019) seems completely out of reach at this moment.

Month End      Invested Total      Total NW
   Dec-13      $43,660      $51,660
   Dec-14      $52,943      $75,943
   Dec-15      $55,622      $88,622
   Dec-16      $69,570      $118,5708
   Dec-17      $97,461      $154,724
   Dec-18      $106,959      $175,804
   Jan-19      $114,861      $165,976
   Feb-19      $120,300      $175,607
   Mar-19      $124,179      $186,181
   Apr-19      $130,479      $184,076
   May-19      $121,529      $181,012
   Jun-19      $129,146      $180,781

I just graduated from the race to $100k thread!

For context: I'm 30 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
1/19: $69,733.94
8/19: $101,572.33

Graduated from race to 100k. So might as well start tracking.

January 2019 81.8k
February 2019 93.2k
March 2019 98.3k
April 2019 108.3k
May 2019 111.9k
June 2019 108.4k
July 2019 117k

Not sure what a realistic timeframe to 250k would be. Hopefully within Jan 2021.

Welcome! 10k average per month is a great goal, definitely faster than average.

I am using this challenge for my retirement savings from now on. The going has been slow till last year due to couple of house purchases.

Investments/cash:

6/30/19: $106,071
7/15/19: $109,270
7/31/19: $112,395

At the beginning of 2019, we decided to only contribute the max to our 401k so that we could finish paying off debt and could acquire cash for an efund in preparation for baby. Now that we've paid off debt and are well on our way to completing our efund amount, we decided to turn our contributions up to get as close to maxing as possible for this year. I'm hoping to see more significant jumps in net worth once those take effect.

Moving forward I'll likely be going to monthly tracking instead of biweekly.

I am tracking only IRA/401K/taxable accounts.
5/31/2018 $100,519.07  - not even the slightest clue on target date...I'll be here for a few years :)
6/30/2018 $105,187.34
7/31/2018 $109,052.07
8/31/2018 $116,748.06
9/31/2018 $125.833.33 (should slow down for rest of year as both 401Ks are maxed)
10/31/2018 $121,400.49 (market pain)
11/30/2018 $120,116/63
12/31/2018 $115,318.38 (more market pain and put some resources towards our new AirBnB venture - looking forward to buying stocks on sale now that 401K is back in play)
1/31/2019 $121,188.34 (next couple of months are my favorite time of year - 401K is in play, bonus and employer 401K match (3% of compensation) all hit)
2/28/2019 $136,880.76 (one twomore fun months, then back to slow(er) growth mode)
3/31/2019 $141,195.30 (one more fun month - employer 401k contribution and last month until max 401k for the year)
4/30/2019 $161,209.95 (going to try to continue speed with taxable account - we will see with a 2-week old at home how this plays out)
5/31/2019 $157,215.34 (market pain decline despite adding close to $4,000 in my after-tax account.....stay the course)
6/30/2019 $168,401.72 ($63,214.38 in one year...stay the course)
7/31/2019 $172,680.44

Felt like bringing in the top level history:

Oct-12: $0.00
Nov-12: $432.15
Dec-12: $1192.8
Jan-13: $1542.90
Jan-14: $7286.11
Jan-15: $16985.5
Jan-16: $26770.16
Jan-17: $58399.77
Jan-18: $95469.77
Feb-18: 111724.81
Mar-18: $112878.91
Apr-18: $117425.35
May-18: $123001.77
Jun-18: $125427.65
Jul-18: $135341.45
Aug-18: $138059.7
Sep-18: $142216.90
Oct-18: $152616
Nov-18: $145926
Dec-18: $150084
Jan-19: $142749
Feb-19: $159520
Mar-19: $168002
Apr-19: $176343
May-19: $184512
Jun-19: $181480
Jul-19: $197044

Aug-19: $204485 = $192056 Investments + $12429 HSA

Another solid month, initial goal was $200k by year end but just with contributions and a flat market I should reach $225k at the least. This has turned into a race to ~$450k now based on some changes in our plans so the faster we go the closer that slow traveling nirvana gets.

Encouraging to see you catch up to the projected grad date month over month, wouldn't be shocked to see you graduate in September of next year at this rate.

Thank you. I'm unsure on how I feel about my calculations as it includes "one time" income that has been generated this year, so it may be overstated some. I expect about another $8k in one time income before the end of the year and will revisit my projections at the beginning of 2020. Then again, if I can generate the one-off (bonus/side income) income this year, why can't I do it next year?! If I can get to $175k by year's end, I will feel pretty good about meeting the goal.

Goal of $250,000 by Sept of 2019.

Jan 1/16 - $105,809.20
Apr 1/16 - $108,749.60
Jul 1/16 - $117,155.44
Oct 1/16 - $118,878.00
Jan 1/17 - $126,041.95
Apr 1/17 - $138,777.41
Jul 1/17 - $144,570.34
Oct 1/17 - $152,266.77
Jan 1/18 - $164,613.88
Apr 1/18 - $174,725.03
July 1/18 - $188,096.17
Oct 1/18 - $191,853.58
Jan 1/19 - $183,804.03
Feb 1/19 - $192,428.69
Mar 1/19 - $197,862.10
Apr 1/19 - $204,808.88
May 1/19 - $208,362.35
Jun 1/19 - $201,804.03
July 1/19 - $208,148.78

Aug 1/19 - $207,281.37

Another month of no contributions in order to pay off credit cards; so it's all market... however, I also had to take some money out of our emergency fund to fix our car (don't worry, I got the parts 1/2 price and did the work myself).

Definitely not hitting my graduation target next month (projection shows me only at $210).  Latest projections show me graduating in Oct of 2020... so 13 months longer than initially predicted.

My FIRE date is now showing March of 2035... haha.

Well, one month into my induction to this thread and the markets take a bit of a dive. Still above 100k, so no complaints! Also, I spent a fair bit on holiday in Iceland... if anyone has a chance to go, please do. What a country. Bizarre and beautiful nature. Icelandair has free layovers up to 7 days on their flights between Europe and the US/Canada, just a little tip for you all!

We are really close, but our savings rate has plummeted recently (course corrections in progress a.k.a self face punches).  We will likely make the $250,000 mark by end of year if market holds true.  I find the grind from $100k to $250,000 to be a long one.  $100k was pretty easy. The savings amount goal changed.  $100k - $250k is a $50k bigger goal than the $0 - $100k original marker.  That is probably just an excuse for not saving like I should have.  I don't include home which has about $200-250k in equity.  It just doesn't seem real as we are living in the house and have to pay for it.  It will be part of my semi early FIRE plan as we will downsize.  Wish I had know more on FIRE 10 years earlier.  I just followed the standard advice that you were supposed to do 10-15% savings rate, but lived the above average consumer sucker lifestyle after that.  Live and learn.

Had a vacation the first week of August, so I didn't post day one of the month, which may have made me post in the next thread.  But as we sit here today, almost two weeks in, I am squarely back in the racing (back) to $250,000, having dipped down to $244,000 as of posting.  Part of it vacation spending, most of it market losses.

I'll see y'all next month?

These are investments only between me and my wife`s 401ks, Traditional IRAs, and taxable brokerage accounts:

April 13, 2019 = $100,325.68
May 19, 2019 = $104,598.06
June 29, 2019 = $116,258.11
July 28, 2019 = $125,262.57
August 24, 2019 = $125,496.17

Rough month. Me and the wife have maxed out our IRAs for the year just now and will probably be buying some discounted market prices soon, if God-willing.
