Time for me to pull up a seat to stay for a little while. I'm excited to be here!
My journey:
October 7, 2018 = $600
October 18, 2018 = $2500
November 1, 2018 = $5,995
November 15, 2018 = $9,273
November 29, 2018 = $11,340
December 13, 2018 = $13,155
December 25, 2018 = $15,396
January 26, 2019 = $78,191 (Added our 401Ks into the mix)
February 9, 2019 = $80,723.72
February 14, 2019 = $81,500.07
February 22, 2019 = $84,426.22
March 8, 2019 = 91581.06($5,000+ tax return and opened an IRA for both my wife and me. Also we are pulling in a ton of overtime through April.)
March 24, 2019 = 96640.33
April 6, 2019 = 99886.50
April 13, 2019 = 100,325.68

Not bad for a man and his beloved wife who both work hourly retail jobs.

Not bad at all!!!

I'm shooting for two years. I'm getting married this summer so will be adding husband-to-be's investments, which give the number a instant boost. Between the two of us we should be able to save a lot more than I've done on my own too.

Didn't think I could contribute to any of these threads but after putting all the numbers together looks like we have a net worth of $113k.. wow. Working on killing the mortgage now aka the last debt. To think we were almost that number in debt less than 11-12 years ago, happened across Dave Ramsey on a lunch break. Looking forward to contributing to this thread.

Apr 2019 .. $113k

We're in the same boat. After finally compiling all of our financial accounts, we found out that we had crossed the 100K net worth threshold. We're still a little stunned. A decade ago, our home value had basically collapsed, husband was laid off, and I was a grad student. While we had no consumer debt then, we had almost no savings and a majorly underwater mortgage. I can only imagine what we can do going forward, now that we're scrutinizing everything closely.

First number is retirement savings, second is total NW including cash emergency savings and real estate equity.

January 2015: $98,619

January 2016: $101,235
December 2016: $140,779 (total NW $269,089)

January 2017: $151,307 (total NW $276,052)
December 2017: $193,677 (total NW $364,276)

January 2018: $203,876
December 2018: $194,973 (total NW $367,535)

January 2019: $210,742 (total NW $375,622)
February 2019: $220,342 (total NW $390,613)
March 2019: $222,125 (total NW $391,337)
April 2019: $228,200 (total NW $403,977)

The total NW is over $250k but I'm focused on retirement only for this challenge. A good chunk of the NW is real estate equity.

I just want to say that I love contributing to my 401K. I`ve had a slow few weeks as far as overtime goes, but it is nice to see only $100 come out of my bi-weekly check($2,000 gross pay) for federal taxes.

2019 Goal = $135k (Invested Total) & $222K (Total NW)
2019 Stretch Goal = $160k (Invested Total) & $250k (Total NW)

I do not plan to leave this race until the Invested Total is above $250k (Prediction = Jan 2022 or 4 year from start).

Code: [Select]
Month End 401K        IRA Invested Total Home Value Rental Value Debt         Total NW
Dec-13 $43,660 $0         $43,660 $120,000 $120,000 $232,000 $51,660
Dec-14 $52,943 $0         $52,943 $125,000 $125,000 $227,000 $75,943
Dec-15 $55,622 $0         $55,622 $130,000 $130,000 $227,000 $88,622
Dec-16 $68,870 $700 $69,570 $200,000 $130,000 $281,000 $118,570
Dec-17 $96,294 $1,167 $97,461 $240,000 $135,000 $317,727 $154,724
Dec-18 $103,098 $3,861 $106,959 $240,000 $125,000 $296,155 $175,804
Jan-19 $110,710 $4,151 $114,861 $240,000 $125,000 $313,885* $165,976
Feb-19 $116,005 $4,295 $120,300 $240,000 $125,000 $309,693 $175,607
Mar-19 $119,846 $4,333 $124,179 $240,000 $125,000 $302,998 $186,181
Apr-19 $125,157 $5,322 $130,479 $240,000 $125,000 $296,588 $198,891

*I added $18k-19k of debt for the rental that I had not been tracking.  I realized that if I was going to count the rental equity & mortgage, I probably should count the other rental debt too.

Another $10k+ swing in Total NW and a big jump in Invested Total!  If we keep that up we will hit our 2019 Invested Total goal by the end of May, guess we will have to wait and see what happens. It would be great if those numbers continued the rest of the year but May should be slow, my other half had surgery and being self-employed means that there will be very little income coming in from that half of the equation.

Only counting my "Early Retirement stash". So this does not include my emergency-fund, pension capital, or payed-off residence.

These are the "end of the month" numbers:
Month      Early Retirement Stash
Jan 2016     58 971.00
Jan 2017     86 368.00
Jan 2018    119 817.00
Dec 2018    135 400.00
Totals for 2018:
Growth    18.847,34   (= 16,17%)
Deposits 27.142,12
Returns -  8.294,78   (= -6,81%)

Jan 2019    145 840.48
Feb 2019    151 827.59
Mar 2019    157 527.28  ( 5 699.69 growth including 1 440.00 deposits)

09/05/18     154,000
10/01/18     168,330
12/01/18     163,458
01/01/19     155,535
02/01/19     166,939
03/01/19     174,622
04/01/19     177,810
05/01/19     200,000

Looks like a big jump, but it's more that I finally looked at our HSA account ($2,763) and my pension account contributions that I could take if needed ($4800)and added those in.  I did, however, fill up our Roth IRA for 2019 so 12K of that jump was from that and I had it in savings but I didn't count towards networth.  A 46K swing in a school year is not too bad!  And I hit 200K, which is fun (but anti-climatic).  I think, unless the market tanks, that we will hit 250K by December of 2019.

Another strong month.
4/2

Total NW   161399 (+$4340)

Total Investments   $115126
Investments Gains/Losses   $966

Cash   $46273
$ Saved   -239
Invest. Contributions   3613

Non-Rent    3083.5
Spending

A little spendy this month.  April will be spendy as well, as we are having a series of visitors in town.  Also, I'll be getting my LSAT scores back, so I'll either be sorrow-drowning or celebrating.
Did both the hosting and celebrating to an antimustachian degree.  Results from this month are still solid as we had the market on our side.

February: 149253
March: 157059
April: 161399
May: 167213 (+5814)

We've had better months, we've had worse months.  Frankly, we should have done better got pretty loose with the purse strings after being in the hole studying for 3 straight months.

Goals: Crest 200k by Thanksgiving.

Mar-19: Another solid month in the markets: $159,074.12 investments + $8928.66 HSA = $168002.78

I love these market gains :-) $176343 total, will add the detail later.

Detail: $176343 = $9434 HSA + $166908 in investments (Taxable + Roth IRA + 401k)

Went back and looked at my goal when I first joined this thread, I had set it for June 2020 with a stretch goal of January 2020. I am further ahead than anticipated but not by that much either.

Current overall total: $184512.48 which comprises of $9961.61 HSA and $174550.87 investments (Taxable + Roth IRA + 401k + ESPP for this quarter).

This means that reaching $250k by January 31st means ~$65.7k in gains or roughly what my overall annual savings including home equity look like. I doubt I will make it and hoping for a continuation of the stock market at its current pace would be the best year on record so that is also unlikely. We shall see what the future holds but there are really no bad outcomes while I'm still accumulating.

I am tracking only IRA/401K/taxable accounts.
5/31/2018 $100,519.07  - not even the slightest clue on target date...I'll be here for a few years :)
6/30/2018 $105.187.34
7/31/2018 $109,052.07
8/31/2018 $116,748.06
9/31/2018 $125.833.33 (should slow down for rest of year as both 401Ks are maxed)
10/31/2018 $121,400.49 (market pain)
11/30/2018 $120,116/63
12/31/2018 $115,318.38 (more market pain and put some resources towards our new AirBnB venture - looking forward to buying stocks on sale now that 401K is back in play)
1/31/2019 $121,188.34 (next couple of months are my favorite time of year - 401K is in play, bonus and employer 401K match (3% of compensation) all hit)
2/28/2019 $136,880.76 (one twomore fun months, then back to slow(er) growth mode)
3/31/2019 $141,195.30 (one more fun month - employer 401k contribution and last month until max 401k for the year)
4/30/2019 $161,209.95 (going to try to continue speed with taxable account - we will see with a 2-week old at home how this plays out)

I've reached the goal of 100k last month, so it's time to aim for 250k.

Apr 2019: 104,580

Congratulations on the milestone!  I think you actually can notice the benefits of compounding after you crest that 100k point.  Good progress and a great month's gains, too!

Jan 1/17 - $126,041.95
Apr 1/17 - $138,777.41
Jul 1/17 - $144,570.34
Oct 1/17 - $152,266.77
Jan 1/18 - $164,613.88
Apr 1/18 - $174,725.03
July 1/18 - $188,096.17

May 1/19 - $208,362.35

Went a little crazy last month spending about $2,500 more than our budget; but thanks to the market we still came out ahead.  This month looks like it will be a little crazy too with some more big house purchases that we've been putting off for the last 3 years, but hopefully not as bad as last month.
Also received a raise in April, of which the majority went right into FI savings. Looks like it will shave about year off my working years.

Tax disbursement, small tax return, and market gains.  If I'm being honest I spent a good bit of money this month (garage stuff) because I knew that the surprise income would buffer the guilt/loss.  Anyone else time purchases to coincide with bonuses/tax returns solely to not feel as guilty about the spending?

Another +$10k.  No idea how, but I doubt this is sustainable.  Looks likely I will hit my goal of $250k by the end of the year though barring any catastrophic market events.

Hey all, I'm jumping into the race even though I haven't quite hit 6 figures yet. I ended 2018 with $70k total net worth, and my initial goal for 2019 was to break $100k, but I'm already at $94k as of May 1st thanks to a sizable tax return, great market returns in the first few months of the year, and a larger-than-expected raise at the beginning of the year. At any rate - I'm excited to hit $100k in the next couple months, but already looking forward to a quarter mill. I'll be tracking my full net worth here, not just investments.

May 2019 - $94,105
