After stalking around the forum for a few years I finally decided to Join this thread! 33yo and my DH is 38yo

Starting out at --->
June  2017     $125,500

I just paid 30,000 for a new Van (our only car now) in cash so it would be $155,500. The car is worth slightly less than what we paid 6 months later $29,000, shall I include it here or just keep plugging away not including it? I am leaning toward not including it since we never plan to sell it. We buy new cars but drive them for 15-20 years.

I should be getting $1,000 distribution from a from a private equity hotel investment. That will be in 2 weeks so that will bump me up a tad. Other than that we have two kids under 2 and just bought a nice house (I know not very mustashian) so our savings has slowed a bit but I should be getting some credit card bonus and bank account sign up bonus to add to the stash. Trying to do better at spending less on food, going out to eat (that is our big killer). Trying to be more aggressive my with investments, I am 50 percent cash right now earning nothing! so hard in a market that is feeling at the end of it's time riding high.

Retirement only, does not include real estate or emergency savings:

January 2015: $98,619

January 2016: $101,235
December 2016: $140,779 (total NW $269,089)

January 2017: $151,307 (total NW $276,052)
February 2017: $156,620 (total NW $285,663)
March 2017: $161,585 (total NW $302,055)
April 2017: $166,111 (total NW $306,801)
May 2017: $169,686 (total NW $327,523)
June 2017: $171,784 (total NW $335,026)

I know the total NW is over $250k but I'm focused on retirement only for this challenge. A good chunk of the NW is real estate equity.

$112k today.  My house is going up for sale so that number is bound to fluctuate depending on what's offered.  It is a complete seller's market in this area however; there is literally nothing for sale within $50k of what I'm asking; anything that goes up is sold usually within a week or two.  Kind of excited!

Finally made it into this thread! I'm amazed at how much some of you guys are able to put away each month. Is it high income, dual income, market return. Either way I'm jealous. Well here is my starting point, with no home equity.

8/8/16: $101,750

I may have skipped a few months of posting, but It's time to get back on track.

2/24/17: $110,773

3/31/17: $115,783

4/30/17: $116,557 not as much as I'd hoped. However, I did spend more on some rock climbing gear and did go out a few times near the end of the month. This month will be a much more frugal month.

Forgot to update!

5/31/17: $117,749
6/30/17: $121,780

July is looking like it's going to be a huge month.

6/1/2017 - $115,738

6/30/2017 $117232 ~ +1.29%

Numbers are per Mint.  Does not include a ~$3500 car loan.  ( To be Paid off In September.)

So, No matter how I add the number (Mint, my spreadsheets) I am off a bit for my 2017 goal.  Guess I need to suck it up.

This is my first race that I'm joining, so we'll see how it goes. We just crossed over the $100k mark recently, and I've only been tracking total net worth (which doesn't include our house value or mortgage) for a few months.

1/17 - $71,425.20
2/17 - $81,629.90
3/17 - $90,185.83
4/17 - $106,744.63 (husband got a huge bonus at work that we may have to repay if he quits his job, which is highly likely as he hates it)
5/17 - $112,212.95

I have to say I'm a bit surprised by how fast our net worth has gone up. It's been pushed a long by several work bonuses (for myself and my husband) and a fairly large tax return (yeah, yeah, face punch me).

6/17 - $119,459.82

Date format is yyyy-mm-dd.

2016-08-01   102
2016-10-01   110
2016-12-31   138
2017-03-31   162
2017-06-30   183

It's getting there. I also track net worth outside my house (it includes money from 60 onwards) and I thought that would pass 500k but it hasn't although it's only a couple of grand short. Hopefully the next update will be above 200k.

Work has been excessively easy which is good. The only problem is that I've been working predominantly from home but I have new project (same job) where I have to turn up 4 days a week. Ideally I get a project to manage that ends up managing itself and I only work 10-20 hours a week for another 3-4 years until retirement. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen although I will keep pushing for that. It's interesting in that I was questioned why only 4 days a week last week and here is the kicker I reckon I only have 1 days a week work.

2017
Jan 1:  $170,881  (start of tracking)
Feb 1:  $183,768  (up $12,887,  +7.5%)
Mar 1:  $197,020  (up $13,252,  +7.2%)
Apr 1:  $202,363  (up   $5,343,  +2.7%)
May 1: $223,229  (up $20,866,  +10.3%)
Jun 1:  $244,355  (up $21,126,  +9.5%)
Jul 1:   $249,532  (up   $5,177,  +2.1%)

So close!  We were briefly over $250k but a $600 medical expense and a slight pullback in our investments brought us back under.

I guess I'll be here at least another month...   8)

Didn't start tracking NW properly until April, so here we go!

04/2017 - 114,128.11
05/2017 - 123,935.63
06/2017 - 127,228.98

07/2017 - 128,638.92

Last month was extra expensive due to moving to a new apartment, the rate of increase should pick up again this month.

Some big expenses coming up over the next couple months: an out-of-state move, my wedding, and furnishing our new place. I should be able to 'hold the line' at around $175,000. If I manage to hit $180,000 on 9/1, though, that would be wonderful.

2.5 paychecks (401k isn't registering yet) helped.  It went up fast right at the beginning of the month and did nothing marketwise for the rest.  Just now logging into Personal Capital they mentioned some volatility from Brexit over the coming days, so I guess we'll see what happens this month.  Either way, happy to cross that 200k line.  That was my goal before I turn 33, and I've got a month and a half to spare :)

June 2017: CHF 235'000

As I paid CHF 2'700 in taxes and the mortgage (CHF 1'380) for the last three months was due I'm satisfied.

Quarter    "Liquid"       Liquid + R.E.
Q3 2016:  $112,200     $165,800
Q4 2016:  $124,300     $178,500
Q1 2017:  $148,300     $203,300
Q2 2017:  $160,548     $217,018

A little slow this quarter, good thing the market went up to give the appearance of progress... trip to Europe, partially financed with credit card hacking, which included putting some spending forward a few months (gift cards, mortgage prepay), but should allow for even higher savings this quarter.

$115,337.66 - Mar 2017
$120,434.93 - Apr 2017
$124,915.92 - May 2017
$131,400.73 - Jun 2017

Increase of about $6,500 last month. Selling our old house above asking price helped. Although any gains from that primarily went to offset the enormous costs associated with selling a house.

Welcome to all the new fellows on the march to 250k!
same investing strategy, the markets stay smooth and calm, the real word doesn't.....remember, remember the days of september for the fireworks..

Feb. 1, 2017 - 106,500
Mar. 1 2017  - 102,500
Apr. 1  2017 -  110,000

June 1 2017 -  113,500
July  1 2017 -  120,500

Rent House is sold off, fix up work on current house is paid for, and the rest of the proceeds should hopefully cover the rest of the new house's work, and I managed to pocket 6 grand or so of the proceeds to feel like I got something out of it!  Hoping to be done with all this money juggling by September, maybe October if need be.  I'm looking forward to normalized spending, budgets, and hopefully savings.

Pretty big jump this month since my pension went from 0% vested to 100% vested so I started counting it and it was a 3 paycheck month for Hubs. For my pension, I'm only counting the amount I could get if I quit today and cashed out today which I estimate using the Fidelity online calculator (~7.4K). I'm going to stay in this thread until our investments reach 250K since that is what we will apply the 4% rule to.  The rest of our NW is just equity and our emergency fund which aren't really part of our 'stash.

Vacation to Las Vegas wasn't cheap :D. It's been a couple of years since we took a big vacation, so we decided to this year. Investments are up, though (60,750 -> 62,450). It was made about $500 worse NW wise because I stopped counting some side-investments since they were converted into something else that, while liquid, won't be sold. Overall, we're on pace to be around 103k by the end of the month :).

03/2017 - $130,500
04/2017 - $133,780 (+3280 - Saved $2500, Market Gains $780, Savings Ratio 48.2%)
05/2017 - $138,157 (+4377 - Saved $2835, Market Gains $1542, Savings Ratio 54.4%)
06/2017 - $144,144 (+5987 - Saved $3265, Market Gains $2731, Savings Ratio 61.9%)
07/2017 - $147,452 (+3308 - Saved $2039, Market Gains $1269, Savings Ratio 39.1%)

This month wasn't great. Lower market returns and a low savings ratio because a trip in June and July was reflected in this month's finances. A renewed intensity to save will hopefully mark this month. Still, it's nice to know even when I splurge, I still save 40% of my income. Plus a raise kicked in, which never hurts.

Dec  $77,305.53
Jan '17 $81,279.42
Feb $88,887.09
Mar $91,141.45
Apr $96,365.54
May $100,283.34
June $102,285.14

Still proud to have tipped over the $100,000 mark! I thought it might drop back down under and I'd be disappointed in June, but still the slow steady climb :) 250,000 seems a long long way off, but...
I'll get there someday!!!

5/01/2017:  $198,456
5/15/2017:  $200,404 - was able to put an extra $250 in that was leftover from last month's household budget!! Plus 401k plus a little market gain gets us started!!
5/31/2017:  $207,044 - Market wasn't particularly helpful lately, but "Cheap-Ass May Throw Down the Gauntlet" put an extra $400 or so into the kitty.
6/15/2017: $213,996 - Market up a little before the latest Trump drama, car in the shop and DW dentist visit meant no additional $ in beyond the retirement/regular addition, but CC churning just got DW and I free plane tix to a friend's destination wedding!
7/5/2017: $219,933 - car in new shop waiting for diagnosis - trying to make up for last month's spendypants-ness (is that a word?) despite summer in the city desire to go out w friends for frozen drinks.....

All the sucess I'm seeing in these threads is incredible.   You're doing it.  You're really doing it.  Don't let the dips dispair you.  It smoothes out in time.  Keep chipping away.  It's coming.

Nice!! I'm in the same place right now. I know $250K is going to come faster than the first $100K, but I think I'm going to be more impatient this time around.

Looking back at Mint data, I realized it took me four years to get from $0 to $100k, but I'm on track to close the gap between $100 and $250k in about two and a half years. Compounding feels good.

Welcome all the new ones. Impatience is a problem, the higher you get the more you want to accelerate the process, this means more risky investments. So i have to breeeath out......

Savings have been on autopilot for a while, and although I've been tracking them every two weeks I have slacked off and not visited this post or updated the google doc since last July.

July 2016: $163,600
July 2017: $238,100

Now go crank out more code!
