Until the markets stablized, I'll probably be inbetween this thread and the race to 100K

JAN 2022: 40,699.37
MAR 2022: 87,840.41
JUN 2022:  86,153.42
AUG 2022: 100,611.5

JAN 2023: 109,070.31

Oct 2023: 147,632.73

Been a ridiculously spendy 12 months for me. Planning to challenge no buy for 6 months.

It's been along time! Honestly, I haven't wanted to be on here recently because sometimes I have found other people's savings rates intimidating and discouraging.
I realize there is no point in comparing myself,  but I'm only human, so there you go.

Meanwhile, we continue making progress:

1/28/21 - $79,429
2/28/21 - $83,727
3/28/21 - $88,303

5/31/2020            $   72,426
6/19/2020            $   82,681
8/6/2020              $   89,237
9/2/2020              $   93,346
10/6/2020            $  103,450
1/5/2021              $  114,837
7/2/2021              $  169,009
9/24/2021            $  173,134
11/4/2021            $  182,341
7/19/2022            $  157,261
9/29/2022            $  153,313
4/10/2023            $  188,800
11/28/2023          $  248,877

This is cash and investments.  Investments are at $202,965.  The cash is EF, savings for roof replacement, and other sinking funds.  I am surprised at how high this number has gotten, but it will go down as we spend the cash, so I am not thinking I'll be leaving the thread for quite a few more months.

You're doing great @MommyCake.  You've got this!

Seriously everyone  -- I think this Race is the hardest of them all psychologically.  The gains feel slow, and the dips feel big.  You're all doing a great job.  Just gotta keep on.

Started reading MMM in Dec19, been coming along nicely.

We've got a big move coming up to one of the most expensive locations to live in the world.. but it comes with a pay bump that should cover for the increase in living cost and over time reduce our tax burden. If all goes well I'll be hitting 220k this year, but as I am holding a lot of cash in JPY right now FX is being a big pain in the butt (hence the drop in March just now which is all FX loss :')).

It's been a funny old year for this race. I've had some major new unavoidable expenses and have had to put in just cursory amounts some months, but it's good to see that even with that slow and steady approach, I've managed to squirrel away 25 grand over the year. The biggest help has been my employer matched contributions at 10%. Can't go too wrong if I'm putting away 20% of my wages every month before my paycheck even lands...

Some quick napkin maths tells me if I stick to this rate I can expect to be in the next race within five years (4.64 years to be precise).

Merry Christmas and a prosperous, Happy New Year fellow Mustachians!

Just touched $250k, if it sticks for Dec 1 I’ll consider myself graduated.

Congrats!  Hope it stuck and that you are entering the new year in a new challenge :)

May '23  : $102,304
June '23 : $104,200

A very strange year financially, I did not have the progress anticipated but instead had a few life-altering experiences, was outdoors in nature a huge amount, did not work that much and adopted a dog. So it was just a different year than I expected.

Wishing you all a bright start to 2024 and congrats to everyone who graduated or had some positive moments throughout the year.

Adopted a dog? Spent time outdoors?  Sounds pleasant. @Serendip

We are approaching $100k NW growth in three years, which is rad.

Our NW over that time reflects the various markets of the past three years: the up market in 2021, which helped our NW; the bear market in 2022, in which NW didn't change all that much; then the bull market this year, in which NW shot up 40%.

The volatility is the price of long-term investing success!

So proud of us for sticking it out.

@Serendip No need! Some years will be more about net worth growth. Some will be about other things. For myself, I ran across the Golden Gate Bridge twice this year... that's my 2023 claim to fame! (though our growth of NW also doesn't hurt)

|          | 2020     | 2021     | 2022     | 2023     |

| February | $37,608  | $73,771  | $120,440 | $189,374 |
| March    | $41,735  | $80,126  | $118,341 | $176,853 |

| July     | $53,320  | $92,983  | $104,767 | $163,445 |
| August   | $56,781  | $95,877  | $115,084 | $165,270 |
| September| $61,376  | $101,957 | $163,661 | $179,853 |
| October  | $61,503  | $98,956  | $155,795 | $173,014 |

| December | $66,804  | $112,890 | $167,896 | $219,415 |

Updated my numbers for Aug to Nov. Finally over the 200k mark! Big one for us, and feels good to reach it after this year.

@FrugalFukuoka Hell yeah. Way to go

Thanks!

I added my December numbers now too, somehow I ended up hitting my target number of 220k with only 600USD short. Thanks to the stock market, and we'll see how that works out for the coming year, but if it stays flat I'll be graduating this thread in 2024!
