In practice, this was a good month, in theory it looks bad. I bought a kitchen and financed it (at 0%, I think this is fine...). I added the kitchen debt to my debt, of course. So my networth took a hit. (In theory the active side increased, but I don't want to fool myself by thinking my kitchen is an asset or investment.)

I think the 0% financing is great! It’s something you were going to buy anyway. We did that when our HVAC shit the bed. I had the 6k saved up but the company offered me 0% for 5 years... yes please!

For context: I'm 31 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
3/20: $118,287.76
3/21: $206,593.43
4/21: $211,501.00 (+$4,907.57, +2.38%)
5/21: $223,080.37 (+11,579.37, +5.47%)

Good month for me! Getting closer. If my current pace holds, I should be there in August, 2 years after I first joined this thread.

3/6/2021    $129,663
4/2/2021    $144,239

Progress is continuing much faster than I had anticipated.  Not sure where the growth is coming from but we will take it.  Haven't changed our savings rate, unless the DW is secretly putting money into our accounts when I'm not looking and if she is, I won't complian.

July 1: $94,885
August 1: $99,157
September 1: $96,161
October 1: $92,650
November 1: $94,512
November 28: $104,403.57

Just made it to this thread! I started my MMM journey in 2017 with a NW of $11,000. I've averaged about $60k per year over the last three years. Less this year, due to Covid-related loss of commission, layoff, and starting a new job. The silver lining of this year was increased savings due to lowered spending during quarantine.
Everyone says the first 100k is the hardest, so I'm looking forward to the easy glide to $250k :)

Dec 1 2020 $103, 694
Jan 1 2021 $106,123
Feb 1 2021 $107,022
Mar 1 2021 $109,254
Apr 1 2021 $114, 473
May 1 2021 $120,521

It has been easier than I thought. A lot of market gains, for sure. The rest is tight budgeting and good use of any 'found' money. Gaming my grocery bill, utility bills, etc, to see how low I can go. Already put April's extra paycheck straight into savings and planning on doing the same with December's. I can feel the progress!

My stats:

Jul2019 — $101953
Aug2019 — $106277
Sep2019 — $111050
Oct2019 — $114791
Nov2019 — $120215
Dec2019 — $122692
Jan2020 — $120521
Feb2020 — $123625
Mar2020 — $124248
Apr2020 — $133240
May2020 — $145475
Jun2020 — $143581
Jul2020 — $151652
Aug2020 — $155546
Sep2020 — $149687
Oct2020 — $161159
Nov2020 — $182840
Dec2020 — $197090
Jan2021 — $197402
Feb2021 — $218863
Mar2021 — $229977
Apr2021 — $241104

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.
April returns were better than March (slightly). I am for the most part sticking to my strategy, and will be in the laying low for the first part of May.

My unofficial goal is to pop up to $250k by the end of DEC 2021. It’s going to take some good gains and avoiding any larger drops.  I’m excited to see how 2021 goes.  The “meet my goal of 6% gains for the year” puts me at needing a total of around $230k.  Obviously I’m trying to pump that number up a little.  I’ll be happy to reach that goal, but very happy to reach the $250k.

Good luck to all

Hello, all! I graduated from the race to $100k at the end of April and have waffled about whether I should tempt the market by posting here, but I want in so here goes!

EOY 2019 = $32,211.58
EOY 2020 = $79,741.14
Jan 2021 = $82,136.05 (+$2,394.91)
Feb 2021 = $87,168.43 (+$5,032.38)
Mar 2021 = $94,241.61 (+$7,073.18)
Apr 2021 = $102,121.70 (+$7,880.09)

Projected graduation date is August of 2024, so I think my stretch goal will be to graduate in under three years in March of 2024.

Can't shed an ever mounting desire to GTFO of work for a year. So I'm jumping into THIS race to keep me from jumping out of the rat race too soon.   I'm only tracking investment accounts. keeping my savings/checking mentally earmarked as an emergency-sabbatical fund. I front loaded my 401k contributions  to max out at end of May. My stretch goal for December 2021 is 175k.

2021
April  =  $149,154
May. =   $153,211

I have one more contribution to max 401k for 2021, then it's on to max HSA in June. Progress will slow in July unless I begin to make monthly taxable brokerage contributions.

03-04-2021          € 115.248,00

This post is long overdue- it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't updated on here since I first crossed the 100k mark in early december. So here goes: tracking personal NW only, and here to keep myself accountable. I'm a former sporadic poster in the save to 50k thread and the race from 10-100k thread, and always liked reading updates of people in roughly the same boat.

Best of luck and happy stashing!

25-6-2018            € 29.879,12 ------> Started Tracking
25-12-2018          € 41.939,62
26-12-2019          € 64.000,00
03-02-2020          € 72.170,00
28-02-2020          € 74.154,00
25-03-2020          € 71.579,00
09-05-2020          € 76.221,00
01-06-2020          € 78.816,00
02-08-2020          € 82.500,00
26-10-2020          € 91.218,00
01-12-2020          € 100.247,00
28-01-2021          € 109.370,00
28-02-2021          € 110.989,00
03-04-2021          € 115.248,00
25-04-2021          € 118.816,00
24-05-2021          € 119.366,00

Heavy expenses due to upcoming wedding and honeymoon in september. Extra vacation pay came in to save the day, otherwise I'd be down a bit in NW. Stock market also not helping with the numbers game- but in the long run it's only positive for me.

120.440 €
-2.157 €

Even though I got a money present and saved additional 2200€, I could not out-save the crypto-devaluation.
I got a raise and will save additional 50€ from next month on, to reach my 50% savings-rate goal. So starting next month, I will save at least 1.662 € per month.

Jan 2021    $110,058
Feb 2021    $129,663
Mar 2021    $144,239
Apr 2021    $168,072
May 2021   $167,435

The first month with a decrease from the previous months, mostly due to having to pay for car repairs, luckily it was on a minor decrease. Hopefully, June will show growth again.

For context: I'm 31 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
3/20: $118,287.76
3/21: $206,593.43
4/21: $211,501.00 (+$4,907.57, +2.38%)
5/21: $223,080.37 (+$11,579.37, +5.47%)
6/21: $226,044.45 (+$2,964.08, +1.33%)

Slower growth this month. It's from a combination of the market slowing down and a big spending month. A lot of things that were deferred for covid are finally coming up again, so the next few months will probably be similar. But it's all planned spending for things I'm excited about, so oh well.

Still deploying my previous down payment stash this month (in hindsight I should've done the entire amount at the end of 2020 when I started, but I kept thinking the market may drop... lesson learned), so the big additions should tapper off after the last one next month.

Another decent month. It would be nice to crack $200,000 by the end of June. However, I will have to survive 2 months without a salary (life of a teacher) so it'll probably take me until well into the Fall to cross $200,000 again.

Uh, one addition, I bought a gaming PC to mine cryptos... late to the game. I will report, starting next month, the ROI.

A so-so month.  I'm leaving for vacation in a few days, so I feel like I've been spending So. Much. Money. getting ready for that.  I'm sure next month will be a losing month because all the actual vacation expenses will be reflected in that.

A better month than I expected, considering the iffy stock market. I did hit a huge personal milestone this month, in that my student loans finally dropped into five figures (in 2017 I had ~$225k of debt and now I'm at ~$99k). That's still........so much lol, but it feels great nonetheless.

May2021 — $249275

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.
I stuck to my strategy, and laid low for the first part of May. And popped back in for some gains when I was read to do so.  A similar strategy is in place in June, as its mostly a month I tend to stay in safety.

It appears I’ll be hitting the $250K goal I set for myself to hit in December 2021 —many months ahead of schedule.  So with that; I guess a new goal will be $280k.  I’ve pulled in gains above the 20% mark thus far for the year.  So hopefully I can keep the trend going and perhaps gain another 10%.  I’m excited to see how the next 7 months treat my accounts.

July 1 - 118.4 (+2900)
Aug 1 - 127.3 (+8900)

Oct 1 - 126.3 (-2500)
Nov 1 - 123.0 (-3300)

2021
Jan 1 - 128.0 (+2000)

Apr 1 - 132.5 (+1000)
May 1 - 132.4 (-100)

Still slow going for me, but June (and the rest of the year) should be better.  I still think I have a shot to get to 160 by the end of the year, but it’ll take some real work now (and no market crash)
