Crazy how close I am to 250K.  Clearly there are many ups & downs to come: can't expect this run to last.  But in addition to the market flutters, I have been making large contributions, and those I get to keep : )

I’m jumping in this thread with a few ideas and thoughts in mind. I don’t plan to add house equity or extras like that. I’m not even going to add the spouse’s 401k. I’ll be solely tracking
My 401k and my Roth IRA Numbers to go toward the goal of $250k. I may add the savings account numbers later, but most of that pays toward the last of my mortgage and a basement remodel right now.

My stats:

Jul2019 — $101953
Aug2019 — $106277
Sep2019 — $111050
Oct2019 — $114791
Nov2019 — $120215
Dec2019 — $122692
Jan2020 — $120521
Feb2020 — $123625
Mar2020 — $124248
Apr2020 — $133240
May2020 — $145475
Jun2020 — $143581
Jul2020 — $151652
Aug2020 — $155546
Sep2020 — $149687
Oct2020 — $161159
Nov2020 — $182840
Dec2020 — $197090
Jan2021 — $197402
Feb2021 — $218863

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.
February turned out pretty good. I’d love to pull similar numbers in March, but I am sticking to my strategy and my exposure to the S Funds are going to be limited for most of the month.  I am considering to update that information and switch the S Fund around 12 March in anticipation of the next stimulus Bill being passed.

My unofficial goal is to pop up to $250k by the end of DEC 2021. It’s going to take some good gains and avoiding any larger drops.  I’m excited to see how 2021 goes.  The “meet my goal of 6% gains for the year” puts me at needing a total of around $230k.  Obviously I’m trying to pump that number up a little.  I’ll be happy to reach that goal, but very happy to reach the $250k.

Good luck to all

What would 2016 you say if they heard 2021 you had $168k?

Just Graduated from the previous thread and ready to keep the running going.  Only tracking Savings and Investments.  Have a feeling growth is going to be a bit slower after this update with the expense of moving and prepping our previous home for sale.  Hopefully, that goes through smoothly so we can make up for lowering the rate of savings while we get stabilized and situtated.

It's my last week at work before maternity leave so I'm late with my update and haven't got all my info. Looks like there were some market dips so no huge progress.
Next month should be better as I stuck a chunk of my bonus into my pension - hooray for tax efficiency!

It looks like the stimulus check put us over $250k...lol

I'll still give it until the end of the month.

I'm in a similar position. I hit $250k last week, but I'm sort of holding my breath through the end of March! LOL

This is quite remarkable! The sort of movement seen by people with 2-3 times the amount (compounding on a bigger pile).

Well done!

Good progress, though I have a couple of larger expenses coming up next month, so I kind of expect next month to have a dip.  One big, big, big change this month is that my husband and I each received an early inheritance of property.  I'm not including this in my numbers yet because I'm still processing it.  And it feels a little unfair to include it because it's not something that we've earned.

Note: all numbers are from the 1st of the month. Only tracking investments, no savings, assets, etc.

Jan 2020: $100,566
Jan 2021: $215,994
Feb 2021: $228,464 (+12,470) [+5.77%]
Mar 2021: $241,785 (+13,321) [+5.83%]
Apr 2021: $258,131 (+16,346) [+6.76%] - Goal Achieved!!!

Year-to-date change: (+$42,137) [+19.50%]

Well holy crap, I did it!!! I remember setting a graduation goal of July 2021 and thinking, "that's probably a bit aggressive", but here I am, April of 2021 with over $250k!

The truth is, I'm lucky in many ways. I sacrificed in college and got through it debt free. I found budgeting early in life and stuck too it. I've had an emergency fund for as long as I can remember and never had an emergency so large that cash-on-hand couldn't cover it. My wife's health issues, while chronic, aren't damaging to our finances (especially with Obamacare as a fall back). My career path exploded in opportunity a few years after I started, opening the door for significant pay bumps.

It's not fair, to have grown over 150k in net worth while so many others I know are struggling. But the truth is, I've sacrificed for over a decade to be in a position to take advantage of these opportunities - and I can tell you the rewards are very much worth it. Here's to a frugal lifestyle, debt freedom, strong savings, a budget, and an ability to accurately evaluate risk!

Instead of going to the 500k race, I'm pivoting to the Race to 100% FI thread. My NW is quite a bit higher than my overall investments and I want to start tracking that instead. Plus, a few of the risks I've taken are likely to pay out significantly in the next 18 months, and I'd rather those numbers kept private. If you want to keep up with me, you'll find me over here https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/throw-down-the-gauntlet/race-to-100-fi/.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement and for sharing your growth, your struggles, and the amazing success of so many! You keep me going on the hard months and make me so excited for my eventual FIRE!

For context: I'm 31 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
3/20: $118,287.76
3/21: $206,593.43
4/21: $211,501.00 (+$4,907.57, +2.38%)

I hemorrhaged money this month. A lot of regular "lumpy" expenses came due, the biggest of which was my annual CSA fee. I also had a $1400 vet bill, but at least that was offset by the stimulus.

Kind of crazy that my net worth still went up so much this month. I'm getting to the point where the market is starting to matter more than my spending.

Congrats to fellow recent graduates @DadJokes , @alcon835  and @ASW !

These threads have been such a motivating aspect of continuing to keep the gas on the savings pedal. Looking forward to more tracking with more folks in the next threads (for whichever gauntlets you choose to chase :)

I’m jumping in this thread with a few ideas and thoughts in mind. I don’t plan to add house equity or extras like that. I’m not even going to add the spouse’s 401k. I’ll be solely tracking
My 401k and my Roth IRA Numbers to go toward the goal of $250k. I may add the savings account numbers later, but most of that pays toward the last of my mortgage and a basement remodel right now.

My stats:

Jul2019 — $101953
Aug2019 — $106277
Sep2019 — $111050
Oct2019 — $114791
Nov2019 — $120215
Dec2019 — $122692
Jan2020 — $120521
Feb2020 — $123625
Mar2020 — $124248
Apr2020 — $133240
May2020 — $145475
Jun2020 — $143581
Jul2020 — $151652
Aug2020 — $155546
Sep2020 — $149687
Oct2020 — $161159
Nov2020 — $182840
Dec2020 — $197090
Jan2021 — $197402
Feb2021 — $218863
Mar2021 — $229977

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.
March was not as good in returns as February, but I still made over $10K in returns and limit my exposure to some of the larger losses that took place in March. I am for the most part sticking to my strategy, and will be in the C Fund for most of April.

This post is long overdue- it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't updated on here since I first crossed the 100k mark in early december. So here goes: tracking personal NW only, and here to keep myself accountable. I'm a former sporadic poster in the save to 50k thread and the race from 10-100k thread, and always liked reading updates of people in roughly the same boat.

Best of luck and happy stashing!

Not displeased since with where I am since I went through over 4 months of unemployment last year due to Covid. Right now I'm stock piling cash because, although I started my new job in November and was able to start an HSA in January, I'm not eligible for my company's 401k until June (the start of my 7th month at the company) so I'm planning on trying to max it out in the back half of the year and use the cash to live on. Basically, I'm just saving the money that would ordinarily have been going into my 401k to use later. Hopefully that works. Ideally I'd like to be around $200k by the end this year! I think this is an attainable goal but I guess time will tell.

123.950 €
+ 9.916 €

I updated the numbers for my Unit-Linked Life Insurance, that's a big part of the increase.
I had a 54.4% savings rate last month.

The projections, based on 5% interest and constant savings, moved. Everything might happen a month earlier:

150.000 € -> April 2022
200.000 € -> January 2024
250.000 € -> September 2025

Next month my base-income rises, to keep my 50% savings rate, I will have to update what I constantly save, which will hopefully reduce the needed time further. At the same time, remodelling my flat will be more expansive than planned. The kitchen will be financed (at 0%). I will add that dept here as liability, but paying it down won't count as savings.

@Cezil - that is neat to see laid out
What would 2016 you say if they heard 2021 you had $168k?

@zee dot
I had to take some time to think about this.  Honestly, back then, I think deep down I would have been very disappointed that in 5 years, I’d only gotten “that far”.  I might have even let that squash the desire I had for trying so hard.  I can feel whispers of that voice in the back of my head still as I struggle to accept that quitting my job in the next few months and taking a year or two off would be okay.  “But I’m not at my goal and I despise work.  I’ve been job searching for 2 years and nothing has sparked my interest.  I must be broken.  How will I ever earn money again?” on top of new compounding health issues.  It’s been an interesting journey and will continue to be.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
