Slipped back a bit and fell off pace to graduate by June.  May take a couple extra months.

Note: all numbers are from the 1st of the month. Only tracking investments, no savings, assets, etc.

Jan 2020: $100,566
Feb 2020: $107,987 (+7,421) [+7.38%]
Mar 2020: $96,513 (-11,474) [-10.62%]
Apr 2020: $90,626 (-5,887) [-6.09%]
May 2020: $104,595 (+13,969) [+15.41%]
Jun 2020: $129,092 (+24,297) [+23.42% ]
Jul 2020: $136,291 (+7,199) [+5.57% ]
Aug 2020: $156,793 (+20,502) [+15.04% ]
Sep 2020: $170,341 (+13,548) [+8.64%]
Oct 2020: $170,871 (+530) [+0.49%]

Year-to-date change: (+$70,305) [+69.91%]

Well I'm shocked. I was certain 10/1 would be red. Sadly, it's all contributions. In addition to my 401K and Roth contributions (which are automated to max over 12-months) I opened a taxable brokerage to toss "extra" cash into each month. It's weird to be in a position where I need to take the tax hit on my investments because I am investing so much - I honestly didn't expect that would happen for a few more years. COVID has been surprisingly good to me financially, even as it takes away everything else. On top of that, my stock options continue to vest a little more each month, which is a significant boost thanks to their current valuation. My company is going through a professional valuation update right now and I expect the value of my options to get a good bump once I hear the outcome of that. Not sure exactly when I'll get the update, but I expect sometime in Q1.

I am in a really, really good place financially. Even on a down month I've been able to end up green because of how much I am contributing to the market. In addition, most of my plays should see a nice bump in October as earnings are announced - a nice reprieve from bloody September.

I complain, but I am up $70,000 for the year - almost double what I was up for the entire year in 2019 - and there is no sign of thing slowing down, if anything I hope to be up $100K by the end of year. I have nothing to complain about.

Hi all! Finally joining this thread after spending a few years in the 10K to 100K thread. Here's my history from that thread:

9/29/17 - $11,511
6/30/18 - $36,000
1/31/19 - $53,028
6/30/2019 - $75,757
12/31/2019 - $96,225
1/31/2020 - $96,048
2/29/2020 - $94,556
3/31/2020 - $92,438
4/30/2020 - $101,897

This was previously just my personal net worth, however with the graduation I've decided to move to household net worth, so Mrs. Fiction gets to join the fun too. It makes too much sense at this point, given how intertwined our finances have become.

Background - I'm 35 and my wife is 31. DD is two and we have another on the way this summer. Looking to buy a house around this time next year.

Total joint net worth as of 4/30/2020 is $203,198. We are debt-free outside of whatever is on our credit cards, which always get paid each month.

With some market cooperation, some inspiration and some hard work (and some luck!) We just might be able to graduate this thread by the end of the year.

Looking forward to following along with everyone's progress!

New Joint Tracker

                  Solo NW      Joint NW
4/30/2020 - 101,897        203,198
5/31/2020 - 109,544        218,023
6/30/2020 - 114,288        227,585
7/31/2020 - 117,338        236,196
8/31/2020 - 128,213        251,254

Well now! That happened a little faster than anticipated. I'll probably hang around this thread a little while longer. My wife is officially on maternity leave after the birth of our second child this month and who know's what will happen with the markets, so I don't want to leave this thread to quickly only to have to come right back!

New Joint Tracker

                  Solo NW      Joint NW
4/30/2020 - 101,897        203,198
5/31/2020 - 109,544        218,023
6/30/2020 - 114,288        227,585
7/31/2020 - 117,338        236,196
8/31/2020 - 128,213        251,254
9/30/2020 - 125,543    246,779

Well my decision to stay in the thread turned out to be the right one. Market downturn coupled with reduced income due to my wife's maternity leave and increased expenses led to a significant NW drop. That's ok though. We'll keep pressing on.

07/31/20 NW: $239,856.83 - Projected Graduation Goal NW (12/31/2020): $263,101.74
8/31/20 NW: $254,524 - Projected Graduation Goal NW (12/31/2020): $273,120

Can't believe it. I guess this is the power of dollar cost averaging, especially when the market is going down (when COVID first hit). I did find a tweak i need to make in my calc - back when i was saving for a house down payment, extra money was going in Ally. Now the extra money is going in VTSAX, so i've been underestimating progress some by assuming lower returns! I'm going to stick around for 1 more month for good measure.
Survived (barely) at $250,469. Keep at it and see you all on the other side!

Bit of a sad turn of events but figured that would happen. Saving has been tough this month with a move and being unemployed. Starting month 4, but as companies are entering Q4 hopefully jobs start opening up again!

20 Dec 18 - 37,800
1 Sept 20 - 100,406
1 Oct 20 - 100,147

Well this was a difficult month but I feel confident enough to join this new race now! Took me about two years to get there, pretty happy about that. My objective is to graduate by mid 2023, ambitious version before 2023. I will have to stay disciplined and keep my job of course.

All amounts in AUD which gives me a slight advantage. I add up all assets, got no debt, don't own my house.

Looking forward to get to know everyone and race to the next magic number. Short term target - 110k in December, 140k in May 2021.

July 2018: AUD$51,000
October 2020: AUD$112,301
Goal: mid 2023 with my current low wage, but actively looking for something better at the moment so it will hopefully be sooner than that

I am using this challenge for my retirement savings.

--------------------
12/31/16     107k
12/31/17     137k
12/31/18     110k
12/31/19     204k
-------------------
03/31/20     170k
06/30/20     220k

09/01/20    252k

Was expecting to reach the milestone sometime next year. But when I checked today, I found my retirement accounts totaled $252k. I am not sure how long the markets will keep me graduated.
--------------------
10/01/20  247.7k
--------------------
Came down below 250k at the end of 3rd quarter

I haven't posted in a while. The pandemic hit and I went into survival mode. I have recalculated my net worth to include my home equity, all of my bank accounts, etc. YNAB makes that all fairly easy. SO here are my current numbers:

MONTH   NET WORTH
Sep 2020   $174641.53
Aug 2020   $173572.29
Jul 2020   $158027.24
Jun 2020   $146504.78
May 2020   $160850.95
Apr 2020   $160405.46
Mar 2020   $128356.12
Feb 2020   $137154.63
Jan 2020   $138807.80
Dec 2019   $129425.03
Nov 2019   $130213.74
Oct 2019   $135957.02
Sep 2019   $142588.49
Aug 2019   $124612.66
Jul 2019   $122631.81
Jun 2019   $124406.99
May 2019   $155032.27
Apr 2019   $118169.81
Mar 2019   $123620.86
Feb 2019   $111878.85

07/17/2020: $103,981.86 (+$0.00)
07/31/2020: $106,885.86 (+$2,904.00)
08/17/2020: $111,111.20 (+$4,225.34.00)
08/31/2020: $112,706.75 (+$1,595.55)
09/11/2020: $114,004.80 (+$1,298.05)
09/25/2020: $113,644.95 (-$359.85)

10/09/2020: $114,192.23 (+$547.28)

Really only a very small gain this month - but I'm totally fine with that. I am closing on my first duplex today, and closing costs (especially with FHA) are super expensive. I was happy to see that the appraisal came back $12.5K higher than contract price, which accounted for most of the cushion in my numbers this month. Once I get a tenant in, I'm looking at another ~$500 in cash flow each month which should get me to my goal even faster!

I do have a few large purchases to make this month (washer/dryer for both units, refinishing both bathrooms, total about $3K) but then I should be good to go. No other major CapEx for now.

Projected Graduation date: December 2022

Prior Progress: Race from 10 to 100k!

Just the market hopping around: I did add to investments.

There is a chance I may hit 200K by the end of this year (if I'm able to keep up an aggressive investment plan and the market doesn't lose value).  That's officially my goal!

30m and 33f, married with joint finances. All figures are in retirement accounts and cash. Not reflective of net worth since we have a lot of student loan debt that will hopefully be forgiven under PSLF in the future. Apart from cash, rest is in equities (total market and large cap US mostly, with a small % in individual stocks). Have followed this thread and happy to join in on the fun.

Starting tracking this month, but have a data point from Feb of this year, before the crash

Feb Ď20: $73,400
...
Oct Ď20: $174,695

Update #5 (tracking 401k only)    It looks like I will stay in the group for 2020.  I am fine with staying around for a bit, but will join the $250-500k group once I am $20-40k above the $250k mark.  No need to flip back and forth when market fluctuations come along.
                                 401k
Nov. 12, 2019         $238,035.96
Dec.   3, 2019         $240,880.64
Jan.   1, 2020          $249,417.11
Feb. 11, 2020          $257,961.03
Oct.  13, 2020          $277,374.19

On a side note - I look forward to the time where the balance seems to just go crazy...that $100k+/year.  The power of compounding/growth is picking up, but look forward to investments creating more gains than I can earn as income.

January 15, 2020 -- $120,900
February 15, 2020 -- $136,916
March 17, 2020 -- $65,556
April 15, 2020 -- $97,329
May 15, 2020 -- $106,497
June 15, 2020 -- $144,753
July 16, 2020 -- $168,424
August 15, 2020 -- $176,358
September 15, 2020 -- $212,832
October 15, 2020 -- $222,622 $199,625

Happy and a little surprised to see a positive shift this month. I knew I should have been going backwards... I put some more money in a high-risk investment this month. So high-risk in fact that I consider that money spent rather than keep it in my net worth. That way if anything comes of it it's a nice surprise. Now that I've properly inserted it into my spreadsheet, the true picture emerges. Pressing forth!

Haven't posted since 1/1/20.  It's been a rough year with my heavily small cap value tilted portfolio, but I've held strong and consistently keep on buying according to plan.  Hoping the coming years will feature a recovery at some point beyond the August 2018 small cap value record high.  I'm on pace to invest over $50,000 this year, a first time ever accomplishment!

2/1/18 - $103,481
3/1/18 - $100,568
4/1/18 - $103,798
5/1/18 - $108,542
6/1/18 - $117,139
7/1/18 - $121,565
8/1/18 - $126,719
9/1/18 - $136,714
10/1/18 - $139,465
11/1/18 - $131,465
12/1/18 - $136,952
1/1/19 - $127,801
2/1/19 - $143,055

8/1/19 - $181,591
9/1/19 - $180,840
10/1/19 - $189,529
11/1/19 - $203,386
12/1/19 - $211,067
1/1/20 - $224,167  - my last update
2/1/20 - $218,786
3/1/20 - $200,569
4/1/20 - $145,628 - WOWZA!
5/1/20 - $174,405 - recovery is back on...
6/1/20 - $195,694
7/1/20 - $199,263
8/1/20 - $212,274
9/1/20 - $229,352
10/1/20 - $225,335  - October has been an overall very up month, even hitting $249k at one point!  This has been a crazy year though so I feel like I could pass $250k this year or maybe I'll drop to the 100s again lol!  All I can control is how much I save and invest and stay chill!

20 Dec 18 - 37,800
1 Sept 20 - 100,406
1 Oct 20 - 100,147
1 Nov 20 - 106,985

Slightly disappointed. I was hoping to break 110k thanks to a small windfall, but the market decided otherwise. I was fine with saving, could have done better. Feeling dedicated at the moment, will definitely break 110k by 1 Dec, hopefully 113k.

Hi all,

Happy to join you on this journey! Been lurking here for several months and finally decided to go public. My stats:

6/1 - $111,116
7/1 - $128,000
8/1 - $136,000
9/1 - $144,858
10/1 - $147,009
11/1 - $150,073

Hard to make good gains the past couple of months, but on the bright side this week was a great time to buy.
