As of today we’ve crossed the $250k line in net worth. This makes me so happy. From $28k in 2016 to $250k in 2020. Doesn’t seem possible. And yet we should be so much further along. Just bad decisions before we started working towards FI. But we are trying to make up for lost time now.

I’m going to stick around here until investments cross the line as well.

I’m jumping in this thread with a few ideas and thoughts in mind. I don’t plan to add house equity or extras like that. I’m not even going to add the spouse’s 401k. I’ll be solely tracking
My 401k and my Roth IRA Numbers to go toward the goal of $250k. I may add the savings account numbers later, but most of that pays toward the last of my mortgage and a basement remodel right now.

My stats:

Jul2019 — $101953
Aug2019 — $106277
Sep2019 — $111050
Oct2019 — $114791
Nov2019 — $120215
Dec2019 — $122692
Jan2020 — $120521
Feb2020 — $123625
Mar2020 — $124248
Apr2020 — $133240
May2020 — $145475
Jun2020 — $143581

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.  Appears I lost a little this month. Oh well...

I hope others were able to make adjustments and protect their investments. Times are a bit strange right now; however, I anticipate we will recover once this virus moves on.
Keep safe everyone!

Update #5 (tracking 401k only)    As I predicted in prior comments I stayed in the group because I didn't want to go back and forth.  I am fine with staying around for a bit, and will join the $250-500k group once I am $20-40k above the $250k mark.  No need to flip back and forth when market fluctuations come along.
                                 401k
Nov. 12, 2019         $238,035.96

Hi! I'm new, just graduated from the Race from 10k to 100k thread today. :-)

As a basic introduction, I'm a 30-year-old attorney in a MCOL. I have always been on the frugal side but started diligently saving when I discovered MMM in September 2016. Since then, I worked hard to pay off my law school loans and maximize my career. I live below my means, drive a paid-off 2012 Toyota and rent 1/2 a 1950's duplex with my dog. I'm trying to get into house hacking and would like to eventually have a moderately-sized portfolio of rentals. My annual spend is under $40k per year, I am working to max out all of my retirement vehicles (401(k), HSA, rIRA, total $29,050.00).

07/17/2020: $103,981.86 (+$0.00)

Average monthly change in net worth since September 2016: $2,950.70
Average monthly change in net worth since January 2020: $5,112.70

Projected Graduation based on 2020 numbers: 29.33 months
Projected Graduation date: December 2022

Prior Progress: Race from 10 to 100k!

Household net for 2 adults:

05/2020: 203K
06/2020: 225K
07/2020: 236k

Technically a little early, but current NW is 252k! If the markets are kind and the expenses stay low, I might graduate in September!

07/17/2020: $103,981.86 (+$0.00)
07/31/2020: $106,885.86 (+$2,904.00)

The last two weeks were a bit crazy. Unexpected vet expenses (which are unfortunately a norm) but overall still a steady increase. Thankful that this was a three-paycheck month! Still staying the course, investing as heavily as I can, and saving up cash.

My average monthly expenses are about $3,100.00, which is not bad at all. I'd like to try to get it closer to $2,500.00, but there have been a number of emergencies this year already which have driven the numbers up. Without vet expenses, my monthly spend year to date has averaged $2,761.58 which is much more in line with where I'd like to be. Pup is worth every penny, though, and hopefully we are through the worst of it now.

I think I can drive my expenses down by incorporating more whole foods into my diet and cutting back on frozen components for convenience. Other than that, there's not too much else I can do. My biggest expenses are rent (paying for accommodations which are at my minimum standard); groceries (see above); electric/water (splitting with SO); internet (negotiated best deal on this); pet food/supplies (have best deal on this); veterinary (hopefully out of the worst of it); restaurants (cut way down); and transportation (paid off car; cheap to maintain; do small maintenance items myself).

Projected Graduation date: December 2022

Prior Progress: Race from 10 to 100k!

Really nice market returns this month and we kicked ass at saving. Unfortunately I'm breaking a lease today and just handed the landlord a $7k check, but it was a pretty number while it lasted.

Graduated from race to 100k. So might as well start tracking.

January 2019 81.8k
February 2019 93.2k
March 2019 98.3k
April 2019 108.3k
May 2019 111.9k
June 2019 108.4k
July 2019 117k

Not sure what a realistic timeframe to 250k would be. Hopefully within Jan 2021.

Welp, back for my annual checkup as I remember that this exists.
Odd not keeping track on a monthly basis. Everything is so automatic at this point.

July 2020 $189.5k

Still hoping that the market moves me to 250k by Jan of next year. Wishful thinking.

Markets helped out his month, but savings was low, largely due to 3K worth of construction supplies for an outbuilding I'm putting up in the backyard.  The only purchase left on that will be siding, glass, paint and locksets.  I'm holding out hope that I can graduate by year end, but I'll really need to buckle down through the last third of the year.

Received a few bonuses this month. Also got engaged, so progress will be slowed down some over the next year with some money going towards that. Its very hard to to get married reasonably in the traditional sense unless you cut a bunch of corners/DIY. I think fiance and myself came to a compromise we can both be satisfied with. Bonus - will get 50K + bump when it becomes official!

The big jumps are somewhat misleading. I have a lot of stock options at my current job which are vesting every month. We're privately owned, so it's all funny money, but I expect us to sell in the next 2-3 years. Based on current projections, our value jumped from $10/share to $15/share so I updated my tracker to reflect that. While that was the biggest jump, I still saw 6% growth overall from direct investments and gains throughout the month, so it's not just funny money.

Still, it's pretty exciting to see my FIRE nest egg growing in a down market. I made some pretty aggressive changes in April and so far they've paid off. I expect the markets to trade sideways through the end of year as we wait for a vaccine. Even so, with my options plus my ongoing investments into my 401K, Roth IRA, and taxable accounts, I expect solid continued growth through the end of year. I hope to be at $200K by January.

For context: I'm 31 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
3/20: $118,287.76 (-6,129.86, -4.93%)
4/20: $109,838.67 (-8,449.09, -7.14%)
5/20: $124,495.18 (+14,656.51, +13.34%)
6/20: $132,228.82 (+7,733.64, +6.21%)
7/20: $136,568.75 (+4,339.93, +3.28%)
8/20: $151,084.80 (+14,516.06, +10.63%)

Huge progress. It was a 3-paycheck month and I got a tax refund.

Market correction really helped me out this month! Which is nice since I've now been officially unemployed for a month. Now the challenge: what can I save on unemployment while job searching (when I actually start getting unemployment checks, that is) and moving in 4 weeks. At least the rent will be cheaper!
