$91,055.26 - beat my target of $90,500 for the year but was hoping to be a bit closer to the finish line.

I've passed 100k if I factor in home equity, but I closed the year around 61k invested - I'm hoping to break 100k just in investments in 2016, so I'll stick around! :D

Realistically, I'm looking to hit $75K by the end of 2016, with a stretch-goal of $80K. I can't wait to hit $100K!

I have a good job, but I can't see myself staying in it for 5 more years. Great benefits, but I am fairly bored in it and would like to do other things with my life. I think if I could get a NW of $100K with about $20K in cash, I could feel comfortable with the risk of trying something else. I just want to have the cushion of being able to quit anything I'm not happy with. The last thing I want to do is quit my ho-hum but secure job for something that sounds good but turns out to be pure misery. I've had a pure misery job, know how easily I could be in one and know a great deal of people continue in one because they have no other choice.  I want to keep at least 1-yr of living expenses on hand for bugging out.

Good luck! Sometimes a leap like that turns out even better than you expected.  I quit a secure government job just over four years ago to move to the other side of the country (I quit with no job lined up)..fast forward to now - I'm in a new field entirely, my salary has doubled since then and I'm really quite happy. :)

$90k is more likely for me this year, but a stretch goal of $100k sounds good. :D

Considering that the markets haven't really pulled any of our weight this past year, you've done great, threadmate. Pure savings grit!

Wow, thanks, that is encouraging! I'm glad it turned out so well for you; I just hope the same for myself. I'd love to get into a completely new field. Perhaps my 'stache will fund my journey!

I think you have the right idea. I just resigned from my current job and am starting a new job this month that pays better but the new company is much smaller and not as risk free as my old job. However, with a decent size emergency fund and investments I don't feel worried at all about the transition.

Thanks for the support. Good luck in your new job, hopefully it will stand firm for quite a while. Worst comes to worst, I can always crash with the folks for awhile (not that anyone wants it to come to that!).

Steady progress and ~2,600 growth this month despite a lot of un-planned expenses this month. A bit of tightening up to do in the holiday season to end the year on a high.

June 2015: $65,550
July 2015: $74,250
Aug 2015: $73,900
Sep 2015: $78,300
Oct 2015: $86,014
Oct 2015: $88,620
December turned out another negative month.
A lot of planned expenses during the holiday season went way over budget, with multiple visits across the border to the US.
As I am consolidating only this week the head winds in the market right into 2016 did not help either.

June 2015: $65,550
July 2015: $74,250
Aug 2015: $73,900
Sep 2015: $78,300
Oct 2015: $86,014
Nov 2015: $88,620
Dec 2015: $88,329

Missed the target of reaching 90K by end of 2015, but still on target to reach 100K by Mar / Apr 2016.
The overall gain of 39,829 in 2015 is not much of a jump from 38,300 in 2014.
While the 2nd one born in Dec 2014 and a bunch of related activities, like hosting the parents and in-laws for additional support added to the overall expenses, there were still a lot of unplanned expenses.
I better work further on the frugality muscles in 2016.

Started 2016 at around 55k NW (though, like everyone else, have been getting facepunched by the market this week).

Same here. Similar NW and a bit depressed by what this down market might mean for the rest of the year...I suppose I might be in luck though since I decided to front load my 401K the first two months of 2016 and all the stocks will be "on clearance."

I've read MMM for about a year now, but I'm new to the forums. I was recently promoted at work and my family and I are making a cross-country move as part of the transfer. My wife and I are 27, with no children and no student loan debt. We do carry a significant amount of CC debt (all at 0% with the use of balance transfer checks (2-3% per transaction)). We are currently trying to max out all tax-advantaged accounts (~50k/year, primary) while also paying down the CC debt (secondary). Our current goal is to reach $100k in net worth by June 2016 and $250k by her 30th birthday, with an eye towards FIRE sometime in our late 30s. We are also wanting to raise a family, but aren't planning on having children anytime in the next few years. Below is our net worth trajectory over the past 9 months:

March 2015: $36,337
April 2015: $38,120
May 2015: $42,347
June 2015: $47,346
July 2015: $56,109
August 2015: $59,985
September 2015: $59,189
October 2015: $65,204
November 2015: $67,240
December 2015: $66,735

January 2016: $56,680

Took a pretty significant hit due to performance of stock market, but know things will eventually turn around. Until then...BUY CHEAP! 5 months to go until our $100k goal of June 2016.

I am at $9600 as of now! I wish to enter this race.  I am completely debt free, no kids, no spouse and I need/want to make up ground fast.

I'll jump in this as well. Been lurking for about a year. I have a regular job 401k with nice matching, a TSP account from the National Guard and a regular taxable Vanguard account. Totals:

January 1, 2015 - $13,492
December 31, 2015 - $$35,251

My goal by the end of the year is to break $50,000. So far this year I've lost about $3,000 due to the markets. hahah It's kind of impressive. I try to look at it that way anyway :/

Just broke into the 90Ks zone with Jan, a month late due to market headwinds and all the additional spending during the holiday season. This market turmoil may be long drawn out. Here's hoping that the push comes from savings in 2016 letting us buy more into the markets on sale.

Broke the $50k barrier... the wrong way. A bad month for the Pooperman household financially. There were some large one-off expenses totaling around $7k. That coupled with removing some accounts (details of why are in my journal) and the market means a drop of about $8k ($57k -> $49k). Ah well. At least the expenses are done with and we can move on!

I had honestly forgotten about this thread until it popped up in my Google Drive sidebar as being updated recently! I updated net worth figures for the last 12 months. Last time I updated, I was at $31k and am now up to $71k. Should be on track to reach $100k by the end of 2016 (assuming the stock market doesn't tank even more...).

I broke my Goal of 70k networth to start 2016.
$70,395.59 to be exact, an increase of 6.5%.

February 1 2016 - $74,587.69
I include my DB pension in my NW, and keeping a very strong savings rate, thus why I'm able to sustain growth despite the markets. I'm just hoping the markets stay low or fall further this year as I'm in the accumulation phase!

My roommate moved out, but think I might have a new friend lined up to take over to keep the extra money coming in each month.

9/1: $78,487.07
10/1: $81,428.69
11/1: $87,887.66
12/1: $90,220.55
1/1: $94,782.59
2/1: $92,959.06

Brutal!!! Down almost $2,000 in NW in January even though it was a three-paycheck month. The market drop in January stung, and will likely push back my $100,000 finish line - it looked in December like I could make it by March...now I think May is more likely, unless the market swings up.

Aug 2015: 46,205.22
Sep 2015: 49,753.59
Oct 2015: 54,243.55
Nov 2015: 59,392.35
Dec 2015: 63,072.56
Jan 2016: 60,176.89

Ouch. We had a $5400 tuition payment to pay, plus almost $1000 car repair, and of course we lost a fair amount in our investments. I'm pretty happy we only went down around $3k, actually.

Still hoping to hit $100k by November or so.

7/31/2015: $36,978
8/31/2015: $34,949
9/30/2015: $35,722
10/31/2015: $37,797
11/30/2015: $39,424
12/31/2015: $42,763
01/31/2016: $44,656
02/29/2016: $47,521

February was a really good month for me! Getting so close to that 50k mark and almost half way there to the 100k finish line! Haven't felt this excited to hit a milestone like that since I made my last student loan payment a while back. Judging by my back of the napkin calculations I should be able to surpass 50k net worth by the end of March as long as I keep my spending in check and of course the market is kind to me.

Up about 7,767 tooooo..... 100,095.24. Hell yeah! When I saw my stock fund (VT) drop slightly today, I knew it'd be close when I got home to tabulate. Thankfully, this is the month that my 403b drops in our lump sum match for the prior year. Took 20 months for me to graduate. I'll go join the next thread. Thanks to all for making this process a little more fun. Hope you all graduate in short order :). Cheers!!

01/31/16  -   $ 44,059
02/29/16  -   $46,831

Like everybody else January was a real killer.   But I've mostly recovered.   This second half of 2016 will see my net worth really skyrocket as the last CC will be paid off and getting rid of the car. So only debt will be mortgage.

9/1/2015           $57,358.64
10/1/2015   $59,144.58
11/1/2015   $63,499.72
12/1/2015   $65,796.16
1/1/2016           $70,395.59
2/1/2016           $74,587.69
3/1/2016           $77,683.18

Humming along. Couple expenses coming up which will slow me down a bit the next couple months. Looking at that 100k mark by late summer/early fall.
Most of my debts are paid off now (one small left to a parent with no interest rate) so I think in a few months my personal finances will truly just be automated and I'm going to stop looking at it so closely.

Congrats to SpareChange on graduation month!

EOY 2015: €16,728
Jan 2016: €15,895
Feb 2016: €17,250

Most of the increase is from paying the annual amount due on my student loan.

Looks like the spreadsheet keeps getting messed up. Anyone know how to fix it? It's not pulling in the current month's net worth. Also, I input my current months net worth yesterday and it looks like someone sorted and it changed the values that were entered for each person.

June 2015: $65,550
July 2015: $74,250
Aug 2015: $73,900
Sep 2015: $78,300
Oct 2015: $86,014
Nov 2015: $88,620
Dec 2015: $88,329
Jan 2016: $90,032

Just broke into the 90Ks zone with Jan, a month late due to market headwinds and all the additional spending during the holiday season. This market turmoil may be long drawn out. Here's hoping that the push comes from savings in 2016 letting us buy more into the markets on sale.

Not much progress in Feb too. While the Canadian holdings increased by ~2500, due to forex fluctuations the oversees numbers are trending lower in CAD. But we are back to the 35-40% savings levels and are plugging away at the investments.

Aug 2015: $73,900
Sep 2015: $78,300
Oct 2015: $86,014
Nov 2015: $88,620
Dec 2015: $88,329
Jan 2016: $90,032
Feb 2016: $90,600

I have updated the current month (cell A1) and fixed the formulas in column A and B. The problem with the sorting most likely happens because the columns after January 2016 are outside the sorting range (marked by the green line/letters/numbers). I have not figured out how to extend the range, but that would not fix the misplaced values only prevent it from happen again.
