Stocks went all the way back up so big jump this month. Also had a good month business-wise so that gave some extra cash to top it up. Finally passed the halfway mark!!

Oh. Wow! I made a mistake. Over all the bonuses I received and stocks coming back, I forgot about the security deposit from the apartment.
So I have to correct the last two months up by 1,875€.

Current net worth as of September 26th, 2019:

14,217€!

Total debt is now below 7k, investments and cash is at 17,500€.

I am stunned :-D

I do not include my savings to buy expensive "fun items" like new cellphone, electronics etc. as it is not very big. My checking account is also not included as it has money I will likely spend this month. Goal for 2019 is to make it to $45K.

Net worth:
Dec2017:$7800
Apr2018:$13,200
Aug2018:$22,800
Sep2018: $23,645
Oct2018: $23,658
Nov2018: $23,948 (+$290)
Dec2018: $23,960 (+12)
Jan2019: $27,100 (+3140)
Feb2019: $29,443 (+2343)
Mar2019: $31,603 (+2160)
Apr2019: $33,959 (+2356)
May2019: $33,933 (-$26)
Jun2019: $37,928 (+3995)
Jul2019: $39,736 (+1808)
Aug2019: $39,918 (+182)
Sep2019: $34,179 (-5739)- The market bounce back was great, but I was getting a little to0 close to my 45K goal, so I went and bought a vehicle. (net worth of just investments-no loan would be at 43100). I am lowering my investments for next month to help cash flow some personal bills, so the markets going to need to go up up and away for me to meet my 45K EOY goal.

Hello everyone! It is my first time posting in this thread, I just made by way over from the race to $10k thread which I just surpassed.

Here is a basic breakdown of the numbers as of the end of the day today:

Total Cash/Cash Equivalents: $31,642
Total Liabilities: $20,131

Net Worth: $11,511

Virtually all of my liabilities are student loans. I also have some minor balances on my credit cards, which I pay off monthly. I've been aggressively attacking the student loans (see my participation in the student loan challenge if curious) and have made steady progress.

As for asset composition,  20% are in checking accounts, 13% is in my HSA and 67% is in my 401k.

9/29/17 - $11,511 (First post in thread)
6/30/18 - $36,000
7/31/18 - $38,676
8/31/18 - $40,277
9/30/18 - $50,572
10/31/18 - $46,085
11/30/18 - $48,956
12/31/18 - $46,003
1/31/19 - $53,028
2/28/19 - $58,276
3/31/2019 - $67,340
4/30/2019 - $70,674
5/31/2019 - $69,853
6/30/2019 - $75,757
7/31/2019 - $78,206
8/31/2019 - $83,589
9/30/2019 - $83,292

September Notes

As I noted in my August update, my September paycheck came early. My October paycheck did not, so September in effect was a zero paycheck month. I managed to basically tread water, going negative by around $300. Though there were a few out of the ordinary expenses including a wedding in which my wife was a bridesmaid that wound up being rather pricey for us. October should be back to normal.

3/30/19 - 24,649.79
7/1/19 - 29,604.18

Coming in for my quarterly update. Up to a net worth of $31,878.15. Not as large of an increase as I usually see per quarter (lots of extraneous expenses...a tattoo I've wanted for a long time, some medical procedures, etc). Buuuuut, I've finally hit the point of my net worth > my annual gross salary! Woohoo!

April 2019: €10094.35
May 2019: €11629.87
June 2019: €12728.63
July 2019: €13021,33
August 2019: €10363,95
September 2019: €10338.28

Goals for 2019:
Savings: €5000
Investments: €10000

My contract was renewed at work and I got a raise! It's still not secure for the long term, but in the short term I'll be fine. I had some more big invoices (about €500 in health related costs and a bunch of other stuff) and a customer from my side hustle called to reschedule to next month, so that means about €250 less income than expected in September. The good news is I'm expecting some reimbursements in October + the invoice from my customer so my income is likely twice as much as it usually is. For now I'm just glad that I didn't actually lose money but stayed at roughly the same NW.

July 12, 2019: $66,565
Aug 1, 2019: $68,207 (+2,47%)
Aug 29, 2019: $69,931 (+2,53%)
Sept 29, 2019: $71,138 (+1.73%)

I sold some of my assets during September, but I'm going to invest the money again when I see the opportunity.
I actually spent much more than expected this month, October's SR should be better.

Thanks! My road to starting my own business is documented here: https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/throw-down-the-gauntlet/anyone-starting-their-own-business/msg2098897/#msg2098897

I would highly recommend starting a side hustle. It's a lot of fun, you gain a lot of new skills and because you keep your day job there's a lot less risk/pressure/stress involved. As a rule I only work with nice people.

It was terribly busy in September and I didn’t get a chance to get to the forums that month.  I finally hit the $100K mark at the end of September, however I’ve been thinking of giving my 2 weeks on Friday and taking a few months off (probably not, but it’s nice to dream) since work has gotten super stressful, and the next 3 months will get worse before it can get better, and I’m not sure the pay is worth my health and happiness at this point.  Burn out for 10 months now sucks.  I've reduced my 401k contribution to the match percentage to hoard cash in my checking account so I feel less worried about leaving my job (I do have 5-6 months saved up already, then discovered cobra coverage would be $418/month!).

At least I met the goal.

Only just signed up to post but been following this thread for a while and it is a huge help to keep me on track.

Since I started tracking:

07/17: £18,831
08/17: £20,396
09/17: £23,363
10/17: £24,599

Quarter of the way there. :-)

A big jump this month thanks to an incredibly generous gift from parents towards my first home purchase. Can't quite put into words how much it means. Now I have the foundation, I need to start putting more towards an index fund ISA or SIPP as I only have my relatively low pension  pot and company shares at the moment. I also need to make sure I avoid the lure of fancy new furniture for the house.

11/17 £26,243
12/17 £27,160
01/18 £28,622
02/18 £48,272

Been a while since I've posted. Started saving more now in a Vanguard ISA. Pretty turbulant end to December/early 19 due to a big trip to Central America, but worth it in my eyes :-)

Mar-18    £48,856.64
Apr-18    £49,114.25
May-18    £49,053.71
Jun-18    £48,221.75

Oct-18    £51,783.55
Nov-18    £53,924.18
Dec-18    £54,660.75
Jan-19    £51,549.50
Feb-19    £51,724.76
Mar-19    £52,470.21

Aug-19    £56,174.30
Sep-19    £59,791.60
Oct-19    £60,712.78

starting to ramp up, and a salary increase this summer hopefully really push on over the next year or so

I'm with you @Evasion --must be a bit more disciplined.
Traveling abroad led to a bit of a spending spree. I just cancelled a dinner reservation for tomorrow because we don't need to eat out at a fancy restaurant AT ALL. We have a fridge full of Thanksgiving leftovers (Canadian thanksgiving is much earlier than for you 'mericans), so we wouldn't even appreciate it as much as we normally would. :)

Savings has dropped and spending increased quite a bit, need to reboot!

I'm confident that my NW of >$40,000 will stick at this point (until I get paid again on 10/31) thus resulting in me being 40% of the way to the goal!

Hi all!

Looking to join this!  Current net worth is ~27K.

However; just curious over what people count in their net worth.  For example, I have a car paid off, with a value of 7K that I currently count in this equation.  Just curious if others do as well.  I've taken the plain approach of any asset (even though cars should rarely count as true assets) is an asset that I depreciate via adding the added mileage in via the Mint application.

Let me know your thoughts.

If any "official" MMM policy on counting cars exists, I would guess they are not generally counted toward NW - but everyone does it differently. Would you ever sell the car? If you're going to run it into the ground, you're not planning to extract that $7k back out of it, so it seems more like a sunk cost which you amortize over the lifetime of use. I don't count my car - or any other physical asset - but the car is the most expensive at less than $2k.

Do what works for you.

(I'm biting my nails on whether I'll make $40k this month. Currently trending toward no.)

I don't disagree with what you're saying at all and makes sense to me - however; I'll keep counting the car just b/c I list it all in Mint, and don't want to manually exclude it.  However; to truly graduate from this forum, I think i'll exclude them when I get to the 100k threshold.  For now out of ease, I'll keep it as is.  Good luck on the march to 40k!

Meet in the middle and use the salvage value instead of KBB. Whatever the value is when you do dispose of it, scrap, sell, trade-in, etc. So if you can get a reliable 500 from the junk yard, or your plan is to turn it in in 10 years when its mileage is super high and you estimate you'll get 1000 or whatever from the trade use that value.

Personally I'm amortizing my remaining car note with my cars value so the asset and debt off-set one another which most won't agree with, but long term I don't want my car to have any impact in my NW so for Mint's purposes I'm doing it this way so it has no effect from an asset or a debt perspective. I know i'll have no debt against my car eventually, but also won't keep an asset on the Balance Sheet either so I just balance it out.

The only valuable asset I have is the house I live in and I don't include it in my net worth for several reasons: the housing market is insane where I live so the equity in my home would seriously distort my NW while I can't access that money, the market value is too difficult to determine exactly every month and I can't downsize any further than this so I can't just sell and cash the money unless I wanted to go and live in a van. I can imagine that if I owned a home worth half a million that I would include (a part) of the equity in my NW because there's the option of selling and releasing that money if I wanted to.

£24,889.28

My NW increased by £132 this month which is pretty bad for me.  I had a few unusual expenses like car insurance to pay for, which cost me a few hundred £'s.  Also had some wedding-related expenses which didn't help.

Overall I contributed my usual amounts into my investment accounts.  It's just cash that I've spent so not the end of the world.

Should smash through the £25k barrier in November.

Greetings once againg, here comes October!
I did make the money back I lost on Tesla when my knock-out bull position went pooof in May this year. So my speculative fun-money made me 650€ this month. I am up by over 1.7k for October:

Investments and liquidity:                                                             €19,615
Illiquid positions (car, pension plan...):                                           €3,234
Total debt (CC on full pay, student loan, bank loan, all low interest): €6,887

Networth:                                                                                    €15,962
