Wait WHAT!! I made it!! I definitely wasn't expecting it. In fact, I completely forgot to check my networth at the beginning of the month, only just did it. I got a very generous 2k gift from my parents (thank you, mom and dad!) and the markets were very nice to me as well.

So I guess I graduate this thread earlier than I anticipated! Thank you all for the support along the way! See you all in the next thread :)

Noooooooooooooo!  Er, I mean Congrats!  Haha.  I made it to 96.5k, close race.  See you in the next one soon!

Hiya, I've recently discovered this forum and thought I'd join the race

27F, single

Savings: €10.6K
Debt: €1.3K (at 0.01%)
NW: €9.288.21

I will start with investments next month once I've figured out the best vehicle. I won't count my pension, because I can't touch that until I'm 68. My goal for the end of the year is NW of €14.500, which would be €11.600 up from Jan 2019. I think at this pace it will take me at least 5 years. Sounds awefully slow compared to lots of you, guys!

Welcome to the forum and the races, don’t worry about the pace too much!  100k saved in 5 years or so is already better than 95% of people on the planet.  It’s been almost 5 years since I found MMM, and I’m now hitting 100k.  Took the first year to get to 10k, then 2.5 more to get to 50k, now I’m up almost 50k in the last 1.5 years.  It’ll go faster and faster for you as you earn more, save more and start getting compounded returns.  You will have huge figures invested in no time if you get the saving and investing on autopilot.

To add to that; most people get there faster than they anticipated (for some awesome examples, check the 'Long term NW goals' thread). You may get raises, find a side gig, your investments may take off once you've started them, you may get creative in cutting costs.

When I started in this thread I thought I'd end my 4 year job contract with about €60k, now I expect it to be in the €90-100k range because apparently I spend less and earn more than 2017 me expected.

Thanks guys! I know, it just feels awfully slow ATM, even if I made amazing progress in the last 3 years, although I don't have records for all of it:

June 2018: -€60
Jan 2019: €2875.28
June 2019: €9288.22

A little bit late posting, but these are my figures from 22/07.

My N/W has increased by £733 which is lower than what I've been averaging recently, but still going in the right direction.

New graduate from the race to 50k thread joining in, already used that to track net worth, so no adjustments needed.

I'm a 26 year old guy, living together with my GF in one of the bigger Dutch cities. We are lucky enough to both make decent money for our age and Dutch standards, but rent is rather high. A big part of the numbers above is my half of the down payment we're saving up. GF is very frugal, and I've only just cathced up with her money wise: joint NW is slightly over 100K now! We keep finances separated, so I'll be tracking for myself only.

First six months of 2019 were very fortunate for me: vacation pay, extra monthly pay as a bonus and two holidays that were less expensive than expected. Now it's just hoping I can continue the streak. Next goal: 60k on the 5th of december ("Sinterklaas").

Best of luck to everyone posting and reading here, happy stashing!

I feel like this thread is starting to flood with Dutch people lately! Welcome @Dave15 .

Dec 2017 €14.300
June 2018 €23.300 (+9k over 6 months)
Dec 2018 €35.600 (+13.3k over 6 months)
Jan 2019 €39.000 (+3.400)
Feb 2019 €40.700 (+1.700)
Mar 2019 €42.400 (+1.700)
Apr 2019 €44.900 (+2.500)
May 2019 €46.200 (+1.300)
June 2019 €48.000 (+1.800)
July 2019 €49.400 (+1.400)

If it weren't for some prepaid work expenses that are waiting to be reimbursed I would've hit €50k!

I broke $10,000 on 9/9/2018. I'm up to $25k as of 2/17/2019.

With my paycheck tomorrow and the recent gains in market i'm around 32650 after a few minor expenses are paid out in the next few days. So 4 months since 25k and i'm at 32650. A change of 7650 / 4 is about 1912 a month.

My 8/2/19 balance (3 paychecks since last update) will be around $37,000 once paycheck, rent, and reimbursement from GF all settles. Solid gain for 1.5 months given my income.

11/26/17: $47,707.48
06/22/18: $72,953.75
07/27/18: $71,676.31
08/23/18: $65,034.83
10/04/17: $63,306.87
10/26/18: $64,270.98
11/27/18: $66,467.65
12/26/18: $66,160.59
01/28/18: $64,688.44
03/25/19: $63,325.75
04/24/19: $65,022.87
06/04/19: $63,056.67

Did a Memorial Day roadtrip. Bought some parts for project car and also finished buying all the parts for 100k mile maintenance on my daily. Expenses were up for wine/food/going out. Also bought camping gear for my upcoming July roadtrip. Quarterly taxes were also paid.

07/30/19: $65,345.01

Missed a month since I was on a 30 day roadtrip. Numbers look good since quarter taxes and un-invested IRA monies are part of it. Vacations are behind so I need to start catching up with a few financial loose ends.

Got back from my trip, and opened Personal Capital to see a net worth of $100,555.32. Wow.

The number isn't really real because I owe my wife for my half of July rent and our vacation expenses, but I still wanted to mark the moment. We'll see if I can get it back up again by 8/1.

For context: I'm 30 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91
4/18: $53,215.13 (+4,681.22 - extra paycheck)
5/18: $55,433.65 (+2,218.52)
6/18: $57,041.95 (+1,572.27)
7/18: $59,753.49 (+2,711.54)
8/18: $63,816.19 (+4,062.70)
9/18: $70,101.27 (+6,285.08 - extra paycheck)
10/18: $73,538.91 (+3,437.64)
11/18: $69,595.61 (-3,943.30)
12/18: $73,126.64 (+3,531.03)
1/19: $69,733.94 (-2,712.15)
2/19: $78,918.09 (+9,184.15 - extra paycheck)
3/19: $83,762.93 (+4,844.84)
4/19: $86,925.57 (+3,162.64)
5/19: $92,839.14 (+5,913.57)
6/19: $90,415.30 (-2,423.84)
7/19: $96,745.04 (+6,329.74)
8/19: $101,572.33 (+4,827.29)

I'm still above $100k! Very happy. I thought I wouldn't get there until the end of the year. I try to focus on my contributions, not count on the market, but it has really accelerated things as I get more and more invested. I'm going to consider myself graduated. Even if the market dips next month, it's a 3-paycheck month so my contributions will be higher to offset it.

April 2019: €10094.35
May 2019:  €11629.87
June 2019: €12728.63
July 2019:  €13021,33

Goals for 2019:
Savings: €5000
Investments: €10000

Good to see I'm still one digit up from last month even though we're still in the middle of a big renovation project and we've been on holiday. Next month won't look so good, I'll have to pay the biggest invoice of the project and there'll be tuition to pay as well. Goal of 15k this year still sounds do-able though.

Couldn't have done it without the support from MMM and you all.
Hopefully hit the 100k mark by the end of this year.

Odd how I come back 1 year from the last post.
I've been on autopilot, not doing anything special and here I am.

July 2019 $117,000

I suppose I'm not allowed to post in this thread next year lol.
Thanks for all the support.

I genuinely couldn't figure out where this gain came from when I first saw it. $400 from the market, $250 from bonus churning, $200 in reimbursements, and the other $950 in regular old savings. All those goodies pushed my savings rate over 50% this month!

I do not include my savings to buy expensive "fun items" like new cellphone, electronics etc. as it is not very big. My checking account is also not included as it has money I will likely spend this month. Goal for 2019 is to make it to $45K.

Net worth:
Dec2017:$7800
Apr2018:$13,200
Aug2018:$22,800
Sep2018: $23,645
Oct2018: $23,658
Nov2018: $23,948 (+$290)
Dec2018: $23,960 (+12)
Jan2019: $27,100 (+3140)
Feb2019: $29,443 (+2343)
Mar2019: $31,603 (+2160)
Apr2019: $33,959 (+2356)
May2019: $33,933 (-$26)
Jun2019: $37,928 ( +3995)
Jul2019: $39,736.10 (+1808)-  I also am so close to 40K, I hope to be there next month.

20 Dec 18 - 37,800
16 Jan 19 - 39,900
1 Feb 19 - 41,500
15 Feb 19 - 43,362
March 2019 - 45,496
Mid March 2019 - 45,815
April 19 - 46,412
Late April 2019 - 48,372
20 June 2019 - 50,890
3 July 2019 - 53,333
Mid July 2019 - 52,850
1 August 2019 - 54,160

Most of increase is market and superannuation being paid.
Actually getting short on cash and not happy with certain decisions BUT I'm about to go on a lavish holiday I've already paid for and I got several pay increases this year, so what the hell am I complaining about?!
Onwards to 60k - goal is October.

5/1/2017   34125.20
5/1/2018   51663.60

6/3/2019   64940.28
7/1/2019   70156.02
8/1/2019   74255.95

I'm a little bummed because I was SO CLOSE to $75k.  Still moving in a positive direction, but have a feeling that unless the market goes on an absolute tear the growth will be slowing somewhat.  A lot of my increases in net worth can be attributed to paying some stuff off.  OT has been cut, so available cash for that purpose has been reduced.

Combined NW:

2019
Jan: -$7,248
Feb: -$6,093
Mar: -$1,081
Apr: $1,221
May: $4,418
Jun: $5,562
Jul: $7,408
Aug: $9,255

To still on the wrong side of 10k is disappointing. A month long unpaid holiday for me, and a move to another appartement hurt our finances
over the summer. In saving mode now though, 100k here we come! :)

Hello everyone! It is my first time posting in this thread, I just made by way over from the race to $10k thread which I just surpassed.

Here is a basic breakdown of the numbers as of the end of the day today:

Total Cash/Cash Equivalents: $31,642
Total Liabilities: $20,131

Net Worth: $11,511

Virtually all of my liabilities are student loans. I also have some minor balances on my credit cards, which I pay off monthly. I've been aggressively attacking the student loans (see my participation in the student loan challenge if curious) and have made steady progress.

As for asset composition,  20% are in checking accounts, 13% is in my HSA and 67% is in my 401k.

9/29/17 - $11,511 (First post in thread)
6/30/18 - $36,000
7/31/18 - $38,676
8/31/18 - $40,277
9/30/18 - $50,572
10/31/18 - $46,085
11/30/18 - $48,956
12/31/18 - $46,003
1/31/19 - $53,028
2/28/19 - $58,276
3/31/2019 - $67,340
4/30/2019 - $70,674
5/31/2019 - $69,853
6/30/2019 - $75,757
7/31/2019 - $78,206

July Notes

Progress was frustratingly slow this month, but at least there was progress! We had a some electrical work done to the house, plus car registration and property taxes were due and finally some significant medical expenses.

On another positive note - joint net worth for my wife and I topped $150,000 for the first time!

I've just got my salary so I update my progress (and from now on I'll post my net worth on the day I receive my salary).

July 12, 2019: $66,565
Aug 1, 2019: $68,207

My investments were performing very well in the second half of July.
I'm using a permanent 290 HUF/USD fx rate in order to eliminate the effect of the fx change.

Hoping for graduation by the end on the month!

Depending on the market, we could have four people graduate this month, which is pretty cool.

I thought about having a "no-spend" month just to ensure that I hit 100k in August. It's a silly idea, since I would probably only be delaying purchases to future months and not actually doing anything productive. I'd still be investing the same amount and would at best increase cash reserves at the cost of things that bring me joy. Worst case is that the market would go cattywampus, and the month of deprivation would be for nothing.

If the last 2 days in the market are anything to go by, graduation this month would be very ambitious.  Not bothered though, it’s either graduation this month or a discount, both are good

Personally I'm very pleased, as the current drop has hit just as my paycheck arrived. My index of choice was getting pricey!

You're so close that a 0.01% change in the market could push you over.

Well, thankfully I fell short on the end of the month cause with the last couple of market days im now down 1K+, so it was fitting that I didn't graduate last month!

But it didn’t take long for my mustachian brain to pick back up again and say “Awesome!”
So while my NW is down, it’s great for several reasons. First, it means I’m a lot more invested in the market than I was, so my net worth will naturally fluctuate more! Second, it means stocks are on sale! I buy on the 5th and 20th of each month via auto investing, so I’m a happy camper. Third, August is a three paycheck month, so I’m actually really hoping that stocks keep falling a bit so I can put an extra $800 in!

A quick Trip to Kansas and some market schenanigans and suddenly my estimate is almost 1800 dollars off. Great :P

2019
01/2019:  49,400
02/2019:  52,900
03/2019:  55,500
05/2019:  59,500
05/2019:  61,100
06/2019:  71,200
07/2019:  75,000
08/2019:  75,300

Oof - not much movement. Our daycare bills were high this month, and we overspent several budget categories. Let's hope August is a better month!

Oh man, within $500, so close!  I made it to within one pay check of graduating, but now it’s looking like 2 or3 to get there.
