Combined NW:

2019
Jan: -$7,248
Feb: -$6,093
Mar: -$1,081
Apr: $1,221
May: $4,418
Jun: $5,562
Jul: $7,408
Aug: $9,255

To still on the wrong side of 10k is disappointing. A month long unpaid holiday for me, and a move to another appartement hurt our finances
over the summer. In saving mode now though, 100k here we come! :)

Hello everyone! It is my first time posting in this thread, I just made by way over from the race to $10k thread which I just surpassed.

Here is a basic breakdown of the numbers as of the end of the day today:

Total Cash/Cash Equivalents: $31,642
Total Liabilities: $20,131

Net Worth: $11,511

Virtually all of my liabilities are student loans. I also have some minor balances on my credit cards, which I pay off monthly. I've been aggressively attacking the student loans (see my participation in the student loan challenge if curious) and have made steady progress.

As for asset composition,  20% are in checking accounts, 13% is in my HSA and 67% is in my 401k.

9/29/17 - $11,511 (First post in thread)
6/30/18 - $36,000
7/31/18 - $38,676
8/31/18 - $40,277
9/30/18 - $50,572
10/31/18 - $46,085
11/30/18 - $48,956
12/31/18 - $46,003
1/31/19 - $53,028
2/28/19 - $58,276
3/31/2019 - $67,340
4/30/2019 - $70,674
5/31/2019 - $69,853
6/30/2019 - $75,757
7/31/2019 - $78,206

July Notes

Progress was frustratingly slow this month, but at least there was progress! We had a some electrical work done to the house, plus car registration and property taxes were due and finally some significant medical expenses.

On another positive note - joint net worth for my wife and I topped $150,000 for the first time!

I've just got my salary so I update my progress (and from now on I'll post my net worth on the day I receive my salary).

July 12, 2019: $66,565
Aug 1, 2019: $68,207

My investments were performing very well in the second half of July.
I'm using a permanent 290 HUF/USD fx rate in order to eliminate the effect of the fx change.

Hoping for graduation by the end on the month!

Depending on the market, we could have four people graduate this month, which is pretty cool.

I thought about having a "no-spend" month just to ensure that I hit 100k in August. It's a silly idea, since I would probably only be delaying purchases to future months and not actually doing anything productive. I'd still be investing the same amount and would at best increase cash reserves at the cost of things that bring me joy. Worst case is that the market would go cattywampus, and the month of deprivation would be for nothing.

Chugging along! Pup hurt his back so we had some vet bills, and I think we were both a little loosey goosey with our spending, me especially as I made some upgrades to our home gym. However we spent a LOT less on restaurants (I guess going on Keto will do that...lol)

If the last 2 days in the market are anything to go by, graduation this month would be very ambitious.  Not bothered though, its either graduation this month or a discount, both are good

Personally I'm very pleased, as the current drop has hit just as my paycheck arrived. My index of choice was getting pricey!

You're so close that a 0.01% change in the market could push you over.

Well, thankfully I fell short on the end of the month cause with the last couple of market days im now down 1K+, so it was fitting that I didn't graduate last month!

Yep, looks like I spoke too soon, and the market gods have smited (smote?) me.

I'm still way ahead of where I thought I would be in January, and a market downturn at this point in our investing life is a good thing. Heck, bring on a full 30% drop!

My initial reaction to this as my portfolio plummeted was YIKES!
But it didnt take long for my mustachian brain to pick back up again and say Awesome!
So while my NW is down, its great for several reasons. First, it means Im a lot more invested in the market than I was, so my net worth will naturally fluctuate more! Second, it means stocks are on sale! I buy on the 5th and 20th of each month via auto investing, so Im a happy camper. Third, August is a three paycheck month, so Im actually really hoping that stocks keep falling a bit so I can put an extra $800 in!

I broke $10,000 on 9/9/2018. I'm up to $25k as of 2/17/2019.

With my paycheck tomorrow and the recent gains in market i'm around 32650 after a few minor expenses are paid out in the next few days. So 4 months since 25k and i'm at 32650. A change of 7650 / 4 is about 1912 a month.

My 8/2/19 balance (3 paychecks since last update) will be around $37,000 once paycheck, rent, and reimbursement from GF all settles. Solid gain for 1.5 months given my income.

A quick Trip to Kansas and some market schenanigans and suddenly my estimate is almost 1800 dollars off. Great :P

Oof - not much movement. Our daycare bills were high this month, and we overspent several budget categories. Let's hope August is a better month!

Chugging along. Negotiating a raise at work, so hopefully I make better progress in Q4. Not to say my current progress isnt good!

Im building up my cash cushion a bit with the extra paycheck this month and am looking forward to ~65k net worth by the end of August. At my YTD rate, Im increasing my net worth by about $3,240.00 each month. Which means that I should be somewhere around $75.8k at the end of 2019 if I maintain the same salary and savings rate.

Im looking to bump from $85k to $110-134k in the next month or two, so hopefully I can make that happen and maybe hit 100k before the end of the year.

Always frustrating to see it going down but it's due to the market. I managed to have a fancy holiday and still save a little. Not as short on cash as last update and about to invest a bundle for cheaper than usual so I guess things aren't too bad! Will focus on saving in september.

Yay!! Broke the 50K mark, let's hope that the next 50K won't take 4 years or even more. With a mortgage and childcare, it's hard to save.
New goal for the end of year is to get to 55K; stretch goal will be to have an increase of 20K for 2019 or a NW of 56.5 K.

Great :P

I was like boooo when I saw the recent market drops, but also have to realize that while being at $36500 right now instead of 37-38,000 which is where i was anticipating, i'm still averaging over 2000 a month since I broke the 10k mark. Progress!

Another month and another step in the right direction.  Unfortunately not as much as I'd have liked, but it's all progress - especially considering I had some other costs and could have been way more frugal than I was.

I'm 545 up from last month.

Also - the usual website I use to host my images on this site has closed down - what do you guys use?

Dec 2017 14.300
June 2018 23.300 (+9k over 6 months)
Dec 2018 35.600 (+13.3k over 6 months)

July 2019 49.400 (+1.400)
Aug 2019 49.200 (-200)

First time ever for my NW to move downwards. Last month I posted right before the dip and as stocks haven't really gone back up from that yet I'm down regardless of my below average expenses (61% SR) this month.

Well, I just barely touched 100k, Ill make an official call of graduation hopefully at the end of the week/month if it sticks, or the market will drag me right back in this race for a while, who knows.
