Got the last of the credit card paid off from the move across country. These last 2 months i'm really able to see the difference the 2x+ increase in salary makes now.

I haven't been that good with savings but the markets keep helping and I guess good foundational habits too!
Very clearly on track for over 50k before my birthday in May, maybe 55k even.

I don’t post much on this forum anymore, but I finally rolled 100k!

Rounded numbers:
401k - 55k
Roth - 20k
Other stocks - 5k
Cash - 25k

Funny enough, I didn’t think I was going to make it!  I quit my job 3 weeks ago in order to attempt a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.  I don’t start the hike for another 3 weeks but took some time off to get everything in order.

I’ve gotten a lot more cash heavy over the past 6 months to have a lot of cushion for the hike.  I’ll turn 25 while on trail, so I’m still young and plenty of time to continue working.

Congrats! Keep on going, friend! You guys are so encouraging with your successes. We just got our tax return, and we're opening our IRA accounts with $2,000 each. We're hoping to break 100k by May or June.

Thank you, and congrats yourself!  Looks like we'll both be graduating to the next thread around the same time, more or less!  Keep up the great work!

Favorable market continues, scary if it stays at this pace I could hit 100k by mid-year. My main goal was end of 2019 to hit 100k so I would be shocked if I didn't hit it, regardless of market shenanigans.

Folks, I'm giving myself a little setback to these numbers. I have been including my car value (10k) in these figures, but after reading MMM's later blog entry on NW calculation, I am going to omit it in my calculations moving forwards. My goal is now back to 100k by end of 2019.

Have been on the road/travelling/no computer for most of Feb and now into March so I didn't do an end of month update for Feb..might not climb much in the next 2 weeks of March. I've been spending too much but thankfully haven't slid back anything yet..happy to be back home and get back into a regular routine.

It's been fun but somehow unsettling :)

1/18/18 - 18,350.00
3/15/18 - 20,267.70
5/17/18 - 19,930.00
8/31/18 - 25,908.00

11/30/18 - 29,835.00
12/14/18 - 30,879.00
12/31/18 - 30,072.00
1/15/19 - 32,774.00
1/31/19 - 34,776.00
3/13/19 - 36,967.00

A couple of big expenditures recently took a bit of a chunk out of savings, but that's what savings are for I suppose. On the upside, I'll finally pay off the remaining balance of my student loans next month, so that should give me a nice boost financially and psychologically.

Updated to reflect unaccounted-for savings.

Hello all, joining this challenge after a bit of a layoff from the forums. I've been stuck right around the $90k NW threshold since August 2018, and I really want to push through into the six-figure club. This will be complicated by a couple of items: I'm getting married in June; we're going on a bucket-list international honeymoon; and I recently found out that I need a medical procedure that will likely take me up to the out-of-pocket max on my insurance, which is $5,500. In the "pro" column is an upcoming $4k refund, which I'm hoping will give me some forward momentum. (Or cancel out the medical expenses, whichever...)

We plan to buy a house in the next calendar year-ish, which will also mean a hit to the NW. I'm also a Poor by the standards of this forum--I make a hair over $50k (the most money I've ever made in my life!) and our HHI is around $93k. But damn it, I want to get to $100k! So here we are:

March 2019: 91,383.01

Welcome!  We are similar!

I recently found out that I need a medical procedure that will likely take me up to the out-of-pocket max on my insurance, which is $5,500.

I had an unexpected $5,500 for my OOP max last year - still paying it off (0% interest).

I make a hair over $50k (the most money I've ever made in my life!)

Including my bonus, I'm just a hair under $50k myself for this year.  We can do this!!!

Nov 2018- $23,000

March 2019- $40,000

3/1/2019: $44,391.15

3/15/2019: $45,689.39

It’s been exactly one year since I first posted on this thread! With a gain of
$32,762.45 in net worth over that year. Now, I’m almost halfway to $100K! Looks like I might get there by this time next year if things continue on like this (as I have been strategic and increased my salary by $20K in the last year, which happened in the last few months, and should show more over the course of next year).

9/28/18: $22,476
10/15/18: $24,956

2/16/19: $57,672
2/28/19: $61,806
3/16/19: $ 64,611 (+2805)

Not as much of an uptick since we had to pay for some larger purchases. But it's bonus season so we're hoping to make up for it over the next 3-4 paychecks. If things go somewhat to plan, we will be able to eradicate the student loan and our NW will hit the 100k mark in just a few months!

Just keep swimming...

I broke over $10,000 on 9/9/2018. I'm up to $25k as of 2/17/2019.
I'm increasing my NW by about 2k a month based on those figures and would hit 100k in about 37 months putting it out to about March 2022. I believe with an upcoming raise, bonus, and other small windfalls that come and go, I'm looking at a goal of December 31st 2021 to hit 100k. Current salary is 49k.

3/20/19: $26,600. Lots of changes: Trip to Chicago complete. Bonus received. Salary bumped to over 50k!!!! We're moving to a townhouse from an apartment. This will affect my savings rate slightly, but we will remain resident property managers and continue to receive a discount on rent. Overall the changes are positive.

Now to await the final March paycheck and get back into the groove of things in the new place.

March 14, 2019: 91,383.01

March 22, 2019: 96,571.66

Got the refund! I do need to pay rent for April so it's really $95,491, but at least for the next week I get to be in the 96es :) I'm only planning to do progress updates once a month, but the refund is a big jump so I wanted to go ahead and get it in there.

An unexpected month. First, had to buy a last minute airplane ticket to fly out to my uncles funeral. A few weeks later, booked airplane tickets to Costa Rica for a vacation, within a couple of days booked the hotels and rental car. Also did my last 2018 tax prepayment.

03/25/19: $63,325.75

Skipped a month. In the last 2 months, did my taxes, I was close on pre-payment but had to paid some more. Also, did the Costa Rica vacation and some work around the house. First 2019 tax pre-payment was sent out. Major expenses were Costa Rica vacation and the work I did on my GTI for a roadtrip to Montana.

Hey Everyone,

Nice to see you all doing well and moving in the right direction.   Here is my latest update from 22/03/2019.

It's + £1,480 for the month, which I'm very happy with.  My YTD number is around £4,884.

Over this period I also had to pay around £1,500 in work expenses which will be paid back to me tomorrow, so next month could be great.  Only downside is I've had work in my house which will be expensive.  It's nice to have work done and know my N/W is still growing though.

I'm jumping on this thread for some accountability and motivation.

My story: I'm married to a not-very-Mustachian-but-not-super-un-Mustachian-type and have two little kiddos (1 and 3). I recently finished up some long schooling/training in the sciences and finally have my first "real" job with a decent salary. Our savings has been mediocre in the past, mostly due to low salaries, living in a HCOL area, having kids and most significantly, TOO MANY EXCUSES. Now we're back in our very affordable hometown and I'm ready to start really focusing on building up our net worth. We still have some work to do on cutting expenses and increasing our savings rate, but we're making some solid progress. I'm hoping to hit 100k by this time in 2020. We'll see how it plays out!

This year so far:
Jan 2019: 49,400
Feb 2019: 52,900
Mar 2019: 55,500

We have got to get our roof done real soon. We have a smaller house but it will still be at least several thousand dollars. Thank God, we have the money to get it done.

If you've got a little bit of handyman ability and watch a few Youtube videos, you can do the roof yourself rather cheap. We re-roofed our rental last fall with about 14sq shingles, new decking, tool rental, and dumpster all for less than $3700. We were quoted around $7,000 to have a roofing company do it. It took us 5 1/2 solid days but we also had a few layers to tear off and some rotten fascia boards to repair before installing the new decking. If you just do an overlay I bet we could've done it in 2-3.

Note that we had never attempted roofing before this project either.

That's the thing, it's great for it to be an inconvenience rather than a major stress! Good luck with yours :)

Got bonus 1 of 3 today so we were able to put a significant chunk toward the student loan and we paid our 2018 taxes (first time owing, ouch). Student loan should be paid off end of next month and then we'll have no debt for the first time ever! Excited to be debt free and hit our 100k NW before our first baby makes their appearance this summer.

I'm hopeful that by the end of April I'll hit the 30k mark so long as the market doesn't go the wrong way and offset my contributions.

I do not include my savings to buy expensive "fun items" like new cellphone, electronics etc. as it is not very big, and I just started it in July. My checking account is also not included as it has money I will likely spend this month.

Net worth:
Dec2017:$7800
Apr2018:$13,200
Aug2018:$22,800
Sep2018: $23,645
Oct2018: $23,658
Nov2018: $23,948 (+$290)
Dec2018: $23,960 (+12)
Jan2019: $27,100 (+3140)
Feb2019:$29,443 (+2343)

Goal for 2019 is to make it to $45K.

Mar2019: $31,603 (+2160)- Took me 7 months to make it out of the 20k's. I hope to not spend that much time in the 30k's, but everyone should still brace for the recession that this achievement is likely to trigger!
