6/30: 5828.16$
8/1:   15412.83$ (+9586.67$)
8/31: 19351.65$ (+3938.82$)
9/31: 25450$ (+6099$)
11/1: 29805$ (+4355$)
12/3: 35490$ (+5685$)

Goal 12/31: 37500$ 40000$ (requires about 4500 4410$ each month)

Not a special month. The market had an upturn again, which helped a little on the results.

I say like @repman: Don't forget to enter data into the column on the right side of the spreadsheet! Not into the first column!:

Dec-16: $32,870.70
Dec-17: $58,271.55   (+ 25,400.85)
Jan-18: $65,122.37   (+ 6,850.82)
Feb-18: $67,352.98   (+ 2,230.61)
Mar-18: $66,410.59   (- 942.39)
Apr-18:  $65,337.11   (- 1,073.48)
May-18: $68,032.74   (+ 2,695.63)
Jun-18:  $68,405.97   (+ 373.23)
Jul-18:   $70,232.18   (+ 1,826.21)
Aug-18: $72,016.38   (+1,784.20)
Sep-18: $73,657.42   (+1,641.04)
Oct-18:  $71,492.09   (- 2,165.10)
Nov-18: $75,678.29 (+ 4,186.20)

Market is getting better (sort of) + increased 401k contributions + paid off car loan = a large jump from Oct to Nov..or a modest jump from Sep to Nov.  I'll take it.  Monthly changes, on average, hover around $1,000 - $1,500.00..

Good month. Didn't travel much. Stock market was meh but at least it didn't go down like in October! Got an extra paycheck, and most importantly, got reimbursed for conference from back in September for $2200. Trying to save an extra $400 each month by eating out less and staying in town vs travelling on the weekends. Had a final interview yesterday for a position that would come with a pay bump to increase our savings rate from around 72% to 77%, a very significant bump up *crossing fingers*.

See y'all in $100k-250k!!

11/21/2018: $32,551.23

12/7/2018: $33,589.65

First paycheck of the month always has a lower impact on my NW because rent hits. I’m hoping to break 35k this year even with the holidays. Then 100k by 2020?! My NW has increased by about $32k this year, but I am hoping to increase my income and see returns now that I am investing instead of paying debt and interest.

Goal for 2019: $85k NW? It’s a stretch, but what fun is an easy goal?!

Bit of a late update, but finished Nov at 60,605.

Hoping for continued downward trend of the market through the end of the year so when I put 5,500 into my Roth IRA on 1/1/2019 I can get some stocks on sale!

I'm starting at the halfway point. I figure my net worth is $50k, but it was negative two years ago. I hope to make major progress in 2019.

I have been a bit unmotivated lately, thought I would join this thread to get keen again.
Amounts in AUD, just had an overseas holidays, moved etc so my net worth hasn't been growing.
I will include superannuation (just 7k - similar to 401k I think for US) to feel better.
I am hoping to get to 65k 2020 and graduate before 2021.

Very interesting development here. Looks like the market has impacted my net worth climb this month pretty significantly. I'm still on an upward trajectory, but not by much. And, admittedly, I bought several necessities as well as a hugely extravagant item for myself (Nintendo Switch) that I've wanted for over a year. So I guess it's a face-punch for me, but I've been hosting Mario Kart sessions in my office at work after-hours and have generally had a lot of fun with it.

I'll be back on my A-game now.

Well, hosting Mario Kart sessions in your office sounds like a rather frugal way to blow off steam compared to going to the pub with your colleagues. If you frame it like that, this machine will save you money ;)

1st of October '18: 11,203
1st of November '18: 11,582
1st of December '18: 12,725
22nd of December' 18: 15,003

Last paycheck of the year included travel and commuting reimbursement as well as small 13th month. Hitting 15k in 2018 certainly feels like a mini milestone!
This is the last time I'll be tracking my private funds, as BF and me decided to pool all our resources from now on.

I was paid early this month, so my N/W displayed is from 18/12/2018 - before my salary was paid.

Total N.W:  £11,818.97

My N/W has increased by £1,127.60 since last month.  I'm quite happy with this considering I've bought quite a lot for Christmas.  I do find it quite difficult to avoid buying things when I'm shopping online or in the Trafford centre (our biggest shopping mall in Manchester).  I've not bought any 'impulse' items so far and even avoided buying new outfits for Christmas parties etc.

In 2017 I set my target which was to be in the 10k club by 22/12/2017... I'm here and hoping to increase my N/W by more than the £10,872.87 I've managed in 2018.  My personal circumstances are much better than this time last year so that should be easily achievable.

Merry Christmas everyone and I hope you all have a prosperous new year.

Update time:
Sep   $ 88,159
Aug   $ 81,356

“To refer to a personal taste of mine, I’m going to buy hamburgers the rest of my life. When hamburgers go down in price, we sing the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ in the Buffett household. When hamburgers go up in price, we weep. For most people, it’s the same with everything in life they will be buying — except stocks. When stocks go down and you can get more for your money, people don’t like them anymore.”

Nov 18: 85620
Dec 18: 88171 (+1150 but that's earmarked to prepay next year's health insurance)

EOY 2018: 87686

Whoo, what a year! I still managed 14.4k networth increase. On a 40k take home income, could've been better, but I'm not mad at it.

Grant, thanks for quoting Buffet. The market might be giving us coal for Christmas, but it'll turn into diamonds over time! Under the pressure of... the powerful... thighs of the economy..? idk I'm sorry.

Anyway, goals for 2019: break that 100k!

Dec 2017 €14.300
Jan 2018 €16.000 (+1700)
Feb 2018 €17.050 (+1050)
Mar 2018 €17.300 (+250)

May 2018 €21.200 (+2600)
June 2018 €23.300 (+2100)
July 2018 €24.400 (+1100)
Aug 2018 €25.700 (+1300)
Sept 2018 €26.100 (+400)
Oct 2018 €26.100 (+0)
Nov 2018 €29.100 (+3000!!)
Dec 2018 €35.600 (+6500)

Had a 7.5k windfall but the market tanking and paying my health insurance ate up some of those savings. However, still at +€21.3k for the year which is amazing! Stretch goal for next year will be to reach €60k.

October 7, 2018 = $600
October 18, 2018 = $2500
November 1, 2018 = $5,995
November 15, 2018 = $9,273
November 29, 2018 = $11,340
December 13, 2018 = $13,155
December 25, 2018 = $15,396

Even with the markets going down this has been surreal.

11/26/17: $47,707.48
06/22/18: $72,953.75
07/27/18: $71,676.31
08/23/18: $65,034.83
10/04/17: $63,306.87
10/26/18: $64,270.98
11/27/18: $66,467.65

The number is going up only because I am putting away funds for next quarters tax payment. Ultimate goal is paying house down aggressively but I don't count the equity into this number. Overall a very good month. Hosted part of Thanksgiving(1 of the many gtgs my family had) but since I cut away spending in other parts, I came in significantly under budget. Since gifts are bought, I am hoping for a good December.

12/26/18: $66,160.59

Very happy with this December, spending was at the minimal but it was also a fun month.

Been awhile since I've posted, trying to get back on track to start the new year. Also just started to max my TSP and wife will be contributing $8800/yr to her 401k with the hopes of working towards maxing hers out as well by the middle of 2019. Should let our NW grow much faster!

I do not include my savings to buy expensive "fun items" like new cellphone, electronics etc. as it is not very big, and I just started it in July. My checking account is also not included as it has money I will likely spend this month. Money in retirement accounts that is not vested is also not included. Part of the big jump in between April and August is that part of my 401K vested 20%.  My savings rate will probably be higher next year, as I am looking for a new job in a lower cost of living area, or if I keep my current job, the 401k match goes up to 6% for 4.5%.

Net worth:
Dec2017:$7800
Apr2018:$13,200
Aug2018:$22,800
Sep2018: $23,645
Oct2018: $23,658
Nov2018: $23,948 (+$290)

Dec2018: $23,959.92 (+12)
The market seems to be playing with me a lot this month. I might not update next month as all my work accounts are being transferred to a new service providers due to company buy out a while ago.  I might never get out of the 20's. My expenses this month were higher than usual, but none of that came out of my HSA or retirement account funds.

End of Year Update

8/31/18: $12,784
9/17/18: $14,547
9/28/18: $$22,476
10/15/18: $24,956
10/31/18: $27,980
11/15/18: $30,081
11/30/18: $36,219
12/31/18: $36,235 (+16)

WHEW, this month was a doozy with spending. That plus the markets being what they are basically makes December a flat month. But when taking a step back and looking at the beginning of the year, our NW climbed ~$63k over 2018 and that's nothing to sneeze at. Fingers crossed we can keep the pace up going into 2019.

February 2018 - $11,869
March 2018 - $14,175

November 2018 - $20,523

December 2018 - $20,923

Despite saving my "usual" amount, my numbers didn't go up all that much because you know, the market and all that.  That's okay.  Happy New Year, everyone!

This includes all our retirement and personal accounts for assets. It includes our credit cards, student loan, and mortgage for liabilities. It DOES NOT include our home value.

April 2018 - $52,917.42
May 2018  - $58,400.19
June 2018 - $59,686.34
July 2018  - $65,798.53
Aug 2018 - $72,231.70
Sept 2018 - $76,755.71
Oct 2018 -  $64,348.89
Nov 2018 - $70,839.76
Dec 2018 - $58,351.73

Loss was all due to market loss. Our 401(k), 403(b), and HCSP were down a combined $13,600. We were still able to eliminate one credit card and only have one to go on that. We were also able to continue to fund a "new" vehicle account, so things still going well other than the market. Of course, no plans to use those retirement funds for another 15 or so years, so there is plenty of time for them to bounce back.

For the New Year, we are looking at putting an additional 5% of our salaries into our retirement accounts. That will definitely give us a boost to our savings rates.

For context: I'm 29 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91
4/18: $53,215.13 (+4,681.22 - extra paycheck)
5/18: $55,433.65 (+2,218.52)
6/18: $57,041.95 (+1,572.27)
7/18: $59,753.49 (+2,711.54)
8/18: $63,816.19 (+4,062.70)
9/18: $70,101.27 (+6,285.08 - extra paycheck)
10/18: $73,538.91 (+3,437.64)
11/18: $69,595.61 (-3,943.30)
12/18: $73,126.64 (+3,531.03)
1/19: $69,733.94 (-2,712.15)

Loss is due to the market. The fluctuations make more of an impact as my net worth increases. My savings were the same this month as they've been all year. I even hit my $3,000 goal of money earmarked for a taxable account, so I opened one with Vanguard and put it all in VTSAX. When the market goes back up, so will all my new shares!

12/2018: $65136.29

Like others here, I took a bit of a hit because of the market. Still ended up saving ~25K over the course of the year. Happy 2019, everyone!

Hello everyone! It is my first time posting in this thread, I just made by way over from the race to $10k thread which I just surpassed.

Here is a basic breakdown of the numbers as of the end of the day today:

Total Cash/Cash Equivalents: $31,642
Total Liabilities: $20,131

Net Worth: $11,511

Virtually all of my liabilities are student loans. I also have some minor balances on my credit cards, which I pay off monthly. I've been aggressively attacking the student loans (see my participation in the student loan challenge if curious) and have made steady progress.

As for asset composition,  20% are in checking accounts, 13% is in my HSA and 67% is in my 401k.

June ended around 36,000 (estimate, was too busy to exactly keep track). July ends with my NW up to $38,676.

Happy with my progress, though I've been spendier than I should.  On a plus side, it looks like I'll be taking a new job which should see a ~20% bump in pay, plus a nice sign on bonus. So my NW should begin to grow more quickly! Ohh and my commute will be dropping from 42 miles down to 2.5 miles! As a result I'll be saving a ton on gas and wear and tear on my car.

9/29/17 - $11,511 (First post in thread)
6/30/18 - $36,000
7/31/18 - $38,676
8/31/18 - $40,277
9/30/18 - $50,572
10/31/18 - $46,085
11/30/18 - $48,956
12/31/18 - $46,003

December Notes

I was really hoping to crack $50,000 again, but market downturn coupled with some pricey medical bills, my car getting stolen (got it back, but had to change the locks) and Christmas spending made sure that didn't happen.

Hopefully 2019 will start off on a better note!

End of July NW: 84,495
End of Year projected NW: 104,324
End of August NW: 88,430.58
End of Year projected NW: 105,233.73

End of September NW: 90,725.77
End of Year Projected NW: 105,847.91

Definitely a rougher month for me expense wise. Had $700 of work expenses that I covered up front, $750 in car repairs, weekend trips to Chicago and Toronto, and the girlfriend's birthday dinner/night out.

October should set up to be a nice month - very little out of the ordinary expenses, work expense reimbursement, and ~$1200 in net bonuses.
November should also be a nice month. Raise will go into effect beginning 11/1 and its a 3 paycheck month. Goal is now to hit 100k effective 11/30.
End of October NW: 92,808.68
End of Year Projected NW: 103,981.71

Bleh stock market.
End of November NW: 98,999.81
End of Year Projected NW: 103,693.80
Lot of money moving around right now being end of year, so its hard to get a to-dollar amount. However for purposes of tracking:

End of December NW: 98,000.

Sucks man.
