Broke $80k!!!

9/1: $78,487.07
10/1: $81,428.69

Tough month for the market, but my employer 5% match is kicking in, and they also fund 75% of my health deductible (works out to $1,200/year - so $100/month for that is the cherry on top!)

My goal is $100,000 by next summer, but I have a feeling I may be able to hit it by April/May...this depends in large part on how the market performs over the next 6-8 months.

Rough month of spending for me. Buddy of mine ended up selling me 5 of his Packer game tickets for face value so I couldn't pass those up. Ending up pushing me over my monthly budget by roughly $600. Still was able to save a tad over 50% of my take home so all in all it wasn't too bad of a month.

7/31/2015: $36,978
8/31/2015: $34,949
9/30/2015: $35,722

Investment accounts have been on the decline in the last two months.  Not a big deal, but makes me a little sad when I look at this thread.  This month I had planned on throwing some excess funds at investments but that got derailed by 1k in vet bills.  Got these kitties pre-MMM, and the vet bills make me wonder what I was thinking.  However, kitty is recovering and happy so that makes me happy. The cool thing is that I still didn't outspend my paycheck last month (thank you MMM), so this definitely falls under the "first world problem" umbrella for many reasons.

Joining as well. I was waiting for the new month only to almost miss it.

2015-08-31 €9,999
2015-09-30 €9,986

My savings in September was a only third of my target number due to moving.

Started the year at $25,138, now up to $35,544! I hope to close out the year around $42K, but that's all going to depend on the market.

Was up $1,785.94 for the month (down quite a bit from past months due to the market), and just received a $9K annual salary increase! Should be at around $65K NW by end of the year but shooting for $70K by December 31, 2015.

I also have a temporary roommate for a few months which helps earn a few hundred extra dollars per month.

Not a great month, August. The markets, the exchange rate and some unplanned home expenses cropping up leading to the first negative month in 2015. Sept might be worth looking forward to, with a small hike and the expenses at the home stabilizing.

May 2015: $63,000
June 2015: $65,550
July 2015: $74,250
Aug 2015: $73,900
Market headwinds continue, but some additional income (hike, arrears and canada tax benefits arrears) has kicked in to push the savings higher and buy more into the uncertain market.
June 2015: $65,550
July 2015: $74,250
Aug 2015: $73,900
Sep 2015: $78,300

90K looks difficult by Dec 2015. But still on target for 100k by Mar / Apr 2016.

I've read MMM for about a year now, but I'm new to the forums. I was recently promoted at work and my family and I are making a cross-country move as part of the transfer. My wife and I are 27, with no children and no student loan debt. We do carry a significant amount of CC debt (all at 0% with the use of balance transfer checks (2-3% per transaction)). We are currently trying to max out all tax-advantaged accounts (~50k/year, primary) while also paying down the CC debt (secondary). Our current goal is to reach $100k in net worth by June 2016 and $250k by her 30th birthday, with an eye towards FIRE sometime in our late 30s. We are also wanting to raise a family, but aren't planning on having children anytime in the next few years. Below is our net worth trajectory over the past 6 months:

March 2015: $36,337
April 2015: $38,120
May 2015: $42,347
June 2015: $47,346
July 2015: $56,109
August 2015: $59,985

Looking forward to hearing other stories as we all reach towards $100k!

September 2015: $59,189

Tough month in the stock market, and my wife is looking for work following our move. The march towards $100k may be stuck in the $60's for the next few months, but the goal is still June 2016.

October 2015: $65,204

A much better month for us, as some of the index funds purchased at a discount in Sept. rose. Also added $700 to our HSA via employer contribution. $100k by June 2016 remains the short term goal.

Hi all,

Entered my 31st October 2015 result early - off on a work trip and will be income/expenditure neutral for a while!

Happy with my recent progress after some expensive medical costs early in the year.

Best of luck to all.

Initial estimate is about $52,150. How the markets have changed and official counting of money hasn't happened yet (and won't until Sunday), so official numbers will not be known until then. I put in the estimate for now since it's within $500 of being correct... I think.

2015-08-31 €9,999
2015-09-30 €9,986
2015-10-30 €14,504

Good results this month with positive growth for all funds. I had a larger contribution this month due to my holiday pay and the value of my portfolio increased just above its historical cost.

It was negative all of my life until two or three years ago (at one point negative $200k or so).  I never tracked it because it was too depressing.

$27,512.11 November 2014
$32,550.93 January 2015
$37,692.25 April  2015
$41,623.39 June 2015
$35,929.89 July 2015 (Ouch!!!)
$45,275.83 October 2015

I did not track it in August and September . . .  just tried to find a little money to put in the 401(k).

We did it!  Our net worth (including everything) is $101,521.89.  Woohoo six figures!  The market going back up was a big help this month.  As were some decreased expenses that gave us a couple hundred extra bucks.  $71,510 is in investments, and the rest is in various savings and checking accounts.  Moving on up to the next thread-though I think we'll be a bit slower than some other people on that climb.  We were hoping to hit $100,000 by the end of the year, and we made it with two months to go!  Woohoo!

Good luck to everyone else, keep it going :)

Well, I decided to stop counting the value of my car in my NW and went back and recalculated and edited my figures since the start of the race. The bad news is I had to reset well below 10K again. The good news is that I get to do the 10K dance over again in probably five-ish months, now with less depreciation.

So, with the modified numbers:

September 30: 1,100
October 31: 4,100

Positive movement, at least.

Positive, positive movement :). My earlier estimate was way off (market did too well). I'll put in the official number later on today.

I had a great October, in large part as a result of the markets!

9/1: $78,487.07
10/1: $81,428.69
11/1: $87,887.66

Up over $6,000 this month. During the summer I figured I'd hit $100,000 by June 2016. Obviously the market will not perform like October every month, but I think if I keep up my increased savings rate, I could hit $100,000 by early April. That's five months to add ~$12,000 which is definitely doable. Then, on to $250k!!!

Made a minor accounting adjustment. Used to consider the 2nd paycheck of the month for the following month's budgeting. But that used to cause a bit of confusion in calculations. I had to make that adjustment eventually and I bit the bullet this month. That reflects in the sudden jump of close to 7700 this month.
But this number is a correct reflection of NetWorth (all the accounts put together) as they stand on 31st Oct 2015 .

June 2015: $65,550
July 2015: $74,250
Aug 2015: $73,900
Sep 2015: $78,300
Oct 2015: $86,014

I'm well above 100k in net worth however I'm at about 50k net worth outside of my house and my retirement funds. I'm going to join in this one. Looking to get to 100k net worth outside my house and retirement funds (not accessible until I'm 60) next year.

Right before the market turned I recieved a substantial raise that I dumped entirely into my defered compensation account. (I tripled my contributions)

If the market hadn't dipped I would have went up much faster. haha. Lucky timing I guess.

Your post stood out to me because of the time period and somewhat similar numbers.  You started tracking around the same time I did.  You kicked my butt, however.  See post #680, a few above.  You started with less than me and ended up with more than me in October.

I need to kick my rear end into gear and get this net worth thing moving . . .

I'd like to join in, although I'm starting above $10,000. It seems like others have as well so hope it's ok.
Just started a journal on here with a plan of having $80K net worth (40K for me and 40K for my husband)by the end of 2017. Maybe this will motivate/help me to get to the $100K mark instead by that time.

As of 30 Oct - $30,648

Just started a journal on here with a plan of having $80K net worth (40K for me and 40K for my husband)by the end of 2017. Maybe this will motivate/help me to get to the $100K mark instead by that time.

As of 30 Oct - $30,648

I found MMM, joined the forums, and hopped on board with this challenge with around $70k net worth. Starting above $10,000 is quite alright!

Congrats to Apple for graduating to the next step!
Welcome to the challenge $40kby40!
And congrats to everyone else who seems to be making solid progress in their financial goals.

I had a good month with markets recovering a bit, a nice raise at work coming through, and temporarily having a roommate for an extra few hundred bucks a month. Long way to go but ahead of my goals right now.

8/1/2015           $52,700.00
9/1/2015           $57,358.64
10/1/2015   $59,144.58
11/1/2015   $63,499.72

Your post stood out to me because of the time period and somewhat similar numbers.  You started tracking around the same time I did.  You kicked my butt, however.  See post #680, a few above.  You started with less than me and ended up with more than me in October.

I need to kick my rear end into gear and get this net worth thing moving . . .

Ha, thanks, well I feel the same way about some other posters who are kicking my butt! I guess that's the whole point of this thread huh? The more butt kicking, the more motivation. :D

I am here to make you all feel better about yourselves. :)

I have gone from -$52,745.00 in May 2014 to -$10,177.00 in October 2015. My stretch goal was a big fat $0 net worth by the end of 2015. I know it's still possible, but it will definitely be a stretch! Fingers crossed!!!

Curse you, student loans!!!

That is very impressive!  You are  doing something about them, good for you!  :)

EDIT: Just added my net worth in a day or two late.

Finally remembered my password! Things are moving great especially with the market rise recently. Looking at my accounts they've had a $10,000 swing over the past month. It's weird to second guess if I should spend $5-10 on a meal when your account moves that much. Anyways I'm hoping to reach $100,000 by year end. It'll be a stretch but with some market tailwind could very well happen. I'm jealous of the people who are able to put away a couple thousand a month, it's a good motivator though, to encourage me to up my commissions.

September 2015: $59,189
October 2015: $65,204

November 2015: $67,240

Will be looking to contribute more to 401(k) over next few paychecks to minimize income tax in spring of 2016.

I'm so close...got paid again, 401k contribution is out of my check but hasn't hit Vanguard yet, so I'm adding it anyway.

$7725.02 net cash (zeroing current CC balance)
$38912.77 house equity
$3085.31 employer stock
$3136.02 Franklin Templeton
$43,068.59 Vanguard

$96,975.13

SO CLOSE!!!  I even spent ~$450 I wouldn't have normally spent this month...definitely makes me want to curb spending even more so I break 100k, hahaha...

Just in investments/housing - I'm there!

$57526 401k/IRA/taxable
$48255 home equity if Zillow is to be believed (a proper appraisal is on my list of things to do so I can drop PMI)

$105,781! :)

Good luck on dropping the PMI, we just dropped ours last month :-D.  Wonderful progress, I'll see you over on the other thread.

I'm at right around $98,500 in investments right now.  It seems like I have been sooooo close for a month now.  Maybe two weeks to go or so.

Last month: 87,861.41
This month: 88,795.86
+934.45

Some headwinds this month, but still moving forward. Should still beat $90,500 target by EOY!

Hoping to hit $100k by the end of the first quarter.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
