I only really track my 401k balance (at end of month) and only for the last couple years.

In my 20s I put something like 10% in and thought I was doing great (better than average), we also tackled 1 student loan, 2 car loans, credit card debt, and bought our 1st home (now a rental).  For the last several years I have only been putting 6% (plus a company match) into the 401k, while we saved for a wedding, down payment on a house, started a family, went to 1 steady income and 1 self employed income, and are continuing the last student loan.  We are still working on paying off my last student loan and building the self employed income but I am really hoping to hit $100k in the 401k sometime in 2018, if the self employed income starts taking off and we can contribute more to an IRA I will add that into the calculations too.

I did do a quick back of the envelope net worth calculation that included debt, primary and rental home value, and vehicle value and that put net worth around $150k, but since I don't regularly track that stuff I don't want to join the next group until the retirement accounts are above $100k.

I have been watching my 401K closer than usual because I was so close to that $80k mark and man has it gone up and down all month but today I crossed it!  I know that it might go back under that mark tomorrow but for today it is over it, and next week when my contribution goes in it should be over it for good!!

                    401K          IRA          Total
Dec 2013:   $43,660     $0           $43,660
Dec 2014:   $52,943     $0           $52,943
Dec 2015:   $55,622     $0           $55,622
Dec 2016:   $68,870     $700       $69,570
Feb 2017:   $74,784      $700       $75,484
 4/11/17:    $76,834     $1002      $77,836
Apr 2017:   $78,946      $1026     $79,972
 5/24/17:    $80,007     $1040      $81,047

Sitting at $99,500 today...I'm just a day's market jump or two away from the moment I've been waiting three years for. Could even be today! I wonder how I'll celebrate...I'm tempted to have a fancy dinner or buy something nice for myself, but wonder if that would be antithetical to the victory, lol.

That is great, MVal!!!  As a mustachian it is hard to know how to celebrate such things, ha ha.  At the very least you can post it here and know that your fellow mustachians are celebrating with you.

Currently at 86k but I'm going to buy a cruise and get my wisdown tooths out so it's going to go down next month :(. 78k to 86k since january !

Did the cruise (2250$), got my wisdom tooths out (1350$). NW is now at 87k.  Got a second job so I'm hoping I'll be able to increase my income a bit.

2016-10-01    $51,413
2016-11-01   -$25,621*
2016-12-01   -$25,405
2017-01-01   -$25,189
2017-02-01   -$24,977

2017-05-01    $7,477
2017-06-01    $16,623

A great progress month, starting focusing on reducing spending. No tangible benefits yet but a slow strategy/ mind-shift is in the works.

Future:

Contemplating taking profits out of the business weekly instead of bi-weekly to increase time in market
Researched a bit about the Smith Manoeuvre to use the equity from the condo once I am done in TFSA/RRSP investments

I've been over and under $100k all month.  But I didn't want to post here until I knew for sure that I could end the month over the magic number.  I'm going to scrape by at $100,421 for the end of May. So excited to be working towards $250k.

I want to get into this race.  My current net worth is $82,123.14 as of today.  I think I can get to $100,000 by the end of the year.

5/31/2017: $83,416.85

That is a growth of $1,293.71.  Which puts me on pace to reach $92,500ish by the end of the year.  BUT I get a big 401k contribution in July and 2 bonuses (June and December) which should put me over the 100k mark.  That's exciting.

First time checking in! Here's what the last few months have looked like:

1/1/17: $50,628
2/1/17: $54,828
3/1/17: $56,100
4/1/17: $60,393
5/1/17: $63,775
6/1/17: $67,020

I may have an expensive summer coming up (buying a car for the first time, moving long-distance, possible break between jobs), but here's hoping I can stay on track for my goal of $80k at year's end. And then $100k before my 27th birthday in 2018!

Jan 2017 - 9,926
Feb 2017 - 15,869
March 2017 - 21,618
April 2017 - 22,738
May 2017 - 29,255
June 2017 - 30,880

Little less growth than I would have liked this month, mainly due to 2 different trips that I took in May.  Already had cash saved up for those trips though, so overall not terrible!

Great job to everyone who graduated! It helps put it all in perspective for those of us just starting out.

My growth is on the right track, but a little less than I wanted for the month. I have a bunch of outstanding work reimbursements that should hit next week, all of which will go into savings.

2/1/2017 - ($6,832)
3/1/2017 -   $66
4/1/2017 - $ 6,298
5/1/2017 - $12,179
6/1/2017 - $17,418

Woohoo, I am #1 on the spreadsheet (temporarily, of course. let me bask in my glory for a few moments. LOL). I updated spreadsheet so you can enter your 5/31/17 NW # - see post #1 for link to doc)

Whoo for the (temporary) #1 spot! :) And thanks for the reminder...I just added myself to the spreadsheet.

I'll throw down.

June 1, 2017 - $51,115 [$83.8k in investments and $32.7k in 0% liabilities (loan from wife & monthly credit card balance)]

I expect it will be a crawl for the next few months due to having a 4 month old and my wife being a stay at home mom (by choice) for the foreseeable future.

May Update

Dec 2017 - 45,241
Jan 2017 - 55,143
Feb 2017 - 58,239
Mar 2017 - 69,145
Apr 2017 - 74,332
May 2017 - 77,876

Pretty standard month for me. No major amount of overtime. A little electrical work done, but no other unusual expenses. Company shares did well, but eventually would like to switch over to etfs as they account for over half of my net worth right now.
Congrats to all the recent graduates 👍

Thanks Eporedia :)
My increases have been driven by massive amounts of overtime and a nice tax return this year. Monthly gains should slow down over the summer months. Goal is to hit 100k by the end of the year, with a stretch goal of 110k.

Good month in the markets and continued my usual savings despite the 2 week vacation I just took. Yay to YNAB for planning and smoothing sporadic spending.

My goal is $90k by the end of year, I am starting to think I might actually hit that goal.
